$100 for a shelter fee is very reasonable, it helps weed out some of the folks who won't take care of the pets or use them for any nefarious reason, they have to keep the doors open and keep the animals in good health. If that's considered too steep, perhaps it's not a good idea to adopt, as vet visits, food, vaccines all cost a lot more than a measly $100 to adopt from a quality organization. Many good no-kill shelters near me, many have great programs for seniors 55+ to adopt 7+ year old dogs for free. And many have discount adoption days if you pay attention to their event schedules. And they have programs for owners with financial hardships.

Today while going through paperwork for the two cats I adopted in the past year (from an excellent local no-kill shelter) I discovered the name of my female kitty's human that passed away about a year ago and she was returned to the shelter after his death. The shelter will take back any pets adopted from them for any reason. I saw in his obituary that he requested in lieu of flowers etc. to have people donate to the shelter. He was an avid car and motorcycle enthusiast. I'm happy I'm able to give his feline friend a new forever home, she's an absolute sweetheart, as is the male kitten I adopted in January who is now 11 mos. old. They're best buddies.

$100 adoption fee I feel is very reasonable, and that money is going to help a great cause, no kill shelters relay on that money to keep the lights on,  I have no problems spending $100 to adopt a pet from one,  just think about how much money you are saving , they are ready to go, they have all their shots, get a clean bill of health, most cases I believe even chipped, that is a absolute bargain.

I agree, if that is too steep, maybe pet ownership is not something one should not be considering

One of our two cats came from the AZ Humane Society, we got her during one of their adoption drives, we got her for under $100 I do believe, second cat we did not and spent more than $100 getting everything taken care of .

Four of my adopted kittens through the years came from homes of friends (or friends of friends) whose cats had litters of kittens, I paid more $$ for vet visits to get them tested, get their shots, get spayed than my latest two that came from the shelter w/all that and microchipped...by comparison a bargain.

I've been volunteering at the Edmonton Humane Society for aboth three years now. Quite often they have "sales" on adoptions. Pay what you can, fees waived, $20 specials. Usually when the shelter gets really full. It's a no-kill shelter, so every now and then, a celarance sale is required! Lots of off site adoption events too. That's what I was up to yesterday. A few volunteers, an EHS staff member, and a few animals, set up and adopting.

The two kittens we had there found homes, but somehow Dexter did not find a new home yesterday.

F250 with a V10. That is a very rare beast! Especially considering that it isn't completely rusted out!

He's a sweetheart. Wish I was in the area, would give him his fur ever home. Good luck Dexter. And kudos to you Dan for helping our furry friends.

yeah its a 99 F250 v10 auto with 3:73 gears, not a sport of rust on the body and new tires. I couldn’t pas it up for $1,700. I haven’t been able to find another single cab long box 4x4 in equal condition in northern BC or Alberta around that price.

I had to have my wife at the hospital at 6 a.m. this morning (yawn) for some surgery, however it went well for which we're very grateful. Didn't get home 'til 4 this afternoon so it was a long day for both of us, but a good day.

Went and saw Alice Cooper last night. I've seen him probably a dozen times over the past 30 years or so. Somehow he just keeps getting better.

This guy is now 70, and his show was better, longer, and more energetic than the last couple of times I saw him. His voice still sounds the same as always, even on the mellower stuff like Only Women Bleed.

The theatrics are still there too, which is great. The guillotine, the Frankenstein monster that comes out, the psychotic nurse, straight jackets, swords, pyro, etc. I love that he still puts on a show, instead of just going out and playing.

And the band. Man, they are tight. Alice has surrounded himself with a group of musicians that just click when they play together. The interaction with each other and the audience is just perfect.

My daughter is 11 and this was her first concert. Along with all the teen pop music she likes, she's loves Alice Cooper. Poison is one of her fav songs, and she has comandeered my old tour shirt from the Trash tour.

She's amazing. I've been a fan since she was with Femme Fatale and The Iron Maidens. Really looking froward to her solo album.

Good old redneck fun.

Despite the fact that it was cold last night (10 degrees C) we decided we should head out to the Monster Truck Throwdown at Castrol Raceway.

Ridiculous, but a blast.

Had a good evening down in Kent, Ohio last night...my old college town.  The downtown area looks great, bars and restaurants busy.   Enjoyed dinner, the weather and a concert by Justin Hayward (Moody Blues) at a small theatre where I went to many concerts nearly 30 years ago.    Sounded great.

My fiancee and I signed the lease on our first apartment together!  Planning a wedding early next year, and found a nice place in Brooklyn with room enough for a modelling bench at least :D

Good luck to the both of you. I've built models on a TV tray, kitchen & dining room tables, etc. before.

I've been using a borrowed McDonalds tray for the past four years, so an actual bench will be a real luxury!

Space is kind of at a premium in NYC - I cant build anything that takes up more room than a Big Mac and Fries :D
