Deathgoblin Posted March 2, 2016 Posted March 2, 2016 Man, the engine and transmission look realistic! Outstanding work!

CFMgarage Posted March 2, 2016 Posted March 2, 2016 My god I just went through this whole thread and your workmanship is so amazing, I just wanna cry that I'll never be at this level Now on a more positive note, that is not true and I won't cry haha...but this motivates me to dig deeper and build even more quality stuff. Do you use magnifying glasses or something at this level of detail? You are a scratchbuild monster and I can't wait to see more updates.
Art Laski Posted March 3, 2016 Posted March 3, 2016 Randy! Incredible work, as always. I am so glad to see you back at it and I'm looking forward to seeing it (and you ) again at the DSC. -Art

Tim, Yes, you ' hit the nail on the head' about what I enjoy the most about this hobby. I love to look at something 1:1 and try to replicate it in scale. The problem is finishing anything Hi John, I'm glad you are liking this one buddy!! Hi Dave, You are probably pretty close about the time! A Thank you Brian! Thanks gergo k !! Hi Art, Thanks ! I will get an order in for more Pro Tech parts if you are going to have a table at DSC. Hello Adam, Welcome and thank you for the kind words Small update tonite... Detailing the top with bolts an fittings. Trying to replicate the raised emblem that ZF had using 'Archer' resin letters.... Building up the side plates...... Okay, I know my little 'ZF' reads 7F but I'm working on that Thanks for looking in. Randy
Codi Posted March 4, 2016 Posted March 4, 2016 Fantastic scratch building right there. Smiling at every pic Randy. Cheers, tim
Davewilly Posted March 4, 2016 Posted March 4, 2016 Very nice! Its hard to believe how small it really is with all that detail.
Eric Macleod Posted March 5, 2016 Posted March 5, 2016 I just read all the way through the thread. I cannot believe my eyes. All of the others have used up all of the good superlatives. All I can say is I am stunned but can't wait to see more. This has to be the best model iv ever seen. Give him the trophy now.
Belugawrx Posted March 5, 2016 Posted March 5, 2016 Another gobsmacking update,... Thanks for the fix Randy D Cheers
Randy D Posted March 6, 2016 Author Posted March 6, 2016 Hi Folks, Thank you Richard, you are just killing that Charger build!!! Tim, thanks for checking in my friend, now get back to work on the Henry J Thank you Dave !! Thanks Bruce, you got everybody hungry! Hi Eric, you are too kind sir. Hi Ray, Thanks and hope you enjoy Estes Park. Is it at the Stanley Hotel? Be sure to be careful around the elk as they wander thru the town ! I'm just down the road in Fort Collins. Glad I could help Bruce Just a small progress report... Ref. pic of parts used to activate the clutch.... Building up the clutch slave cylinder out of white metal and fittings.. added the return spring out of .01mm wire.. Did read on the GT40 forum that some race teams ran the slave cylinder in a horizontal position but could find no pics of the Gulf cars doing this so went with what I had. Thanks for looking in! Randy
MrObsessive Posted March 6, 2016 Posted March 6, 2016 You see fellas, there IS someone else besides me that's just as insane about the little things! Randy, this is an excellent thread, and it'll certainly be a stunner when it's all done! I like your way of building this--------taking each part as a kit in itself. Sure it takes a while, but it's those details that can make a model a neat little treasure.
Pete J. Posted March 7, 2016 Posted March 7, 2016 Ok Randy, now your getting carried away! The slave cylinder is just nuts!
blunc Posted March 7, 2016 Posted March 7, 2016 I'm beginning to wonder if Randy built himself a shrink ray and is keeping it a secret. it's quite a treat to see this happening, thank you Randy for taking the time to post your WIP.
W-409 Posted March 12, 2016 Posted March 12, 2016 Great to see you back at the bench again! Your builds have been a great inspiration and this is no exception. Truly unbeliavable work with all of that detailing. Makes me speechless.
Randy D Posted March 19, 2016 Author Posted March 19, 2016 Hi Folks, Thank you Bill, I think you get to keep the belt for being obsessive JC, Thanks for checking in ! Hey Pete, Glad you like it! Hi Mike, thanks and hope to spend more time talking to you again this year at DSC. Thanks Dave, Hope to see you also! Hi Ken, Appreciate that. Thank you Jesse ! Thank you Niko !!! Richard, thank you for your continued support Working on the various parts of the axle assemblies. During research for this build I could not believe it when I saw that these cars used the rotoflex couplers in place of another CV or UJoint. In the late 70's I had to change out these couplers on my Triumph GT6 Plus after they failed, not a fun job!!! Some ref. pics... Here is my version of the 'rubber donut'... More.....
