What Did You Get Today? (Not Model Related)

This is from a custom knife maker on eBay called CFK ... I’ve been watching for something I’d really like from them for over a year now, and then won the bid on this one... It’s beautiful and very high quality, and pretty much exactly the kind of knife I’ve been looking for... couldn’t be happier!... 🤠👍

Most of their knives are over $100, but they’re always offering ones with mild blemishes in auctions and I’ve seen many of them go for $40-$50, and the blemishes are usually almost unnoticeable, and there are endless styles being offered all the time

Because some of the folks I work around are incapable of actually fixing anything, the scrap-metal dumpster is often a source of stuff I can put to good use with only a little work...or sell to somebody who needs it.

Today I snagged a complete Ford 8" rear end that only needs a pinion bearing. It'll go under my '32 Ford rod as a place holder until I get the quick-change.

Same dumpster so far has yielded a 5-speed TR8 gearbox, an MGB steering rack, a pair of genuine GTO cylinder heads, a 4-bolt 350 Chebby block that needs a .010" overbore, a 4-foot shop fan that needs a starting capacitor for the motor, an MG Midget / Sprite top frame, and all kinds of other goodies large and small.

Twoww it awaaayyy, bozos. Your dumb is my gain.  B)

So a few years back a buddy of mine acquired a painting in a thrift store in St. Pete for the princely sum of $15. He displayed it proudly in his apartment but recently moved in with his girlfriend, who decreed that said painting will NOT be gracing the walls of her house. He called me and asked if I would become the custodian of this piece of fine art. I jumped at the opportunity, since it's exactly my kind of weird and I'd have gladly paid up to, like, $20 for it. I finally got it hung yesterday with a cool pendant light from West Elm for illumination. Behold this awesome piece of 70's primitivist surrealism...

Very 70s. Ever tried to Google the artist? Pierre Ch...something.

I see art and see the thrift store story and automatically think of Antiques Roadshow. Are sitting on a goldmine? lolz

Found this 1993 issue of Mopar Muscle in a box of old car mags in my dad’s attic a couple months ago. Mailed it off to the King’s museum with a short note. It came back today, autographed. Felt like a kid at Christmas!

Got really silly yesterday and decided I needed to go aquatic.  I have wanted a fishing boat for many years, but my late wife would not go for it. Seeing as how I am a bit older and my balance is sometimes questionable, I decided against a narrow fishing boat.  This one should serve my purposes.  The picture is from the net, I do not have possession yet.  The dealer I bought from had to get the boat transferred from another dealer.  It is 16' with a 50 hp Mercury 4-stroke engine.  I really wanted it in black, but blue is the only one in stock.  Could have ordered one but it would take almost three months to get here.

nice!  some family friends used to have a pontoon boat.  think it was a 20 footer.  made a great fishing boat.  little more room to move around, you could kick back and take a break.  and the added benefit is you can take more people out with ya, needless to say you're going to have a lot of friends now

Picked up a T5 transmission that’s going to make it’s way behind the 340 in my 71 Plymouth Valiant

What was this out of? Mustang? Doesn't look like the 15* clocked GM F-body unit, and the shifter is in the wrong spot for an M-van. Assuming it's a WC version if it's going behind a 340...

I swapped a T-5 into my '95 Astro a decade ago and it was well worth the effort.

I believe it was out of a gm F body, The mount and shifter are clocked and it’s the Chevy bolt pattern for the bell housing. As far as I can tell it’s the WC.

Behold, my prizes for the day...

A bottle of Blue Rocket traction compound for all the no-prep races that we'll run in this year.

And I found a neat-lookin book at Ollie's. Since I'm a guitarist who likes to listen to the classics, it just had to come home with me 🙂

Nice score, Cale..... Would you have to undo a tie rod to install them?

I’m not to sure, right now the engine is out of the car so I can clean it up and do some upgrades to it. I’ll have to see how everything goes together.
