Mike 1017 Posted January 1, 2015 Posted January 1, 2015 (edited) I am going start to using acrylic paint in my airbrush . I am getting tired of the clean up that comes with lacquer and enamel paint. I plan to participate in this years Cannon Ball Run Happy New Year Mike Edited January 1, 2015 by Mike 1017
Brizio Posted January 1, 2015 Posted January 1, 2015 I would like to finish the Shelby Transporter and the Daytonas... But I said that also last year...
AC Norton Posted January 1, 2015 Posted January 1, 2015 ....to actually build more than my dismal number of only two pieces like in 2014.....I hope, I hope,........the ace....
James2 Posted January 1, 2015 Posted January 1, 2015 No resolutions but: I have found revitalization in building for myself. I was burned out building for shows and detailing things as if it were going to a museum or something. My goal is to keep it simple and have fun!
Nacho Z Posted January 1, 2015 Posted January 1, 2015 Three resolutions come to mind. I would like to break out my new airbrush and play with it. By the end of the year I would like to be consistently painting, at least parts, if not bodies. In conjunction with this, I would like to use Alclad on my parts. I would like to be more consistent at the work bench. For me, if I don't have an hour or so to spend at the bench, I don't go there. I have a buddy who is always talking about the "5-minute modeling" he does. In 5 minutes you can cut a piece off of the sprue and clean it up. Point is, you can get a lot of work done in shorter, consistent sessions. I like that idea. I would like to be more active on this forum. People spend a lot of time photographing their work and writting up posts to share here. I look at a lot of threads but don't always post a comment. I am not doing this to boost my post count but to show appreciation for the work of my fellow modelers. 1
StevenGuthmiller Posted January 1, 2015 Posted January 1, 2015 I don't do resolutions either, but I do like to set an occasional goal for myself, especially when it comes to building. Because I know if I don't, I'll wind up like too many of my colleagues out there who get nothing finished. I would like to get at least as many finished this year as last. 10 is a good round number! Steve

Mooneyzs Posted January 1, 2015 Posted January 1, 2015 I am not sure I would say I have resolutions but more of a goal or two this year. I am hoping to finish my 1/16th scale Army Vega Funny Car this year. Would really love to finish it before GSL but no way am I a going to compromise the build just to finish it in time. The length of detail I have been trying to achieve on it, I don't want to ruin it by trying to rush it at all. with that said I am super excited to start a couple other 1/16th scale builds once I finish this one up. I have 3 I know I want to do right away but have bigger list of builds I want to do than that. One of the builds is really close to my heart since it was the reason for my love of drag racing. This hobby is fun and relaxing to me. I guess you can say its therapeutic for many of us. I just want to keep it fun and continue to push my limits, learn from others there and expand my building skills. I feel I have a lot to learn still.
unclescott58 Posted January 1, 2015 Posted January 1, 2015 (edited) Resolutions? Nah, they don't work for me. Join the crowd. I gave up on them years ago. Now I just do the best I can everyday. I don't wait for holiday to try to become a better person, or get things done. Scott Edited January 1, 2015 by unclescott58
The70judgeman Posted January 1, 2015 Posted January 1, 2015 It's not really a resolution, but I need to get my hobby room, the paint booth, and kit storage built. And then organize everything so I can get back into building models again. It's been a while since I've been able to even really work on anything aside from picking at kits and doing some minor part glue-ups.
Dirt Demon Posted January 1, 2015 Posted January 1, 2015 Thats a simple one.....keep on building....keep getting better...and keep winning awards..lol
ChrisBcritter Posted January 1, 2015 Posted January 1, 2015 1. Re-learn how to use an airbrush. 2. Finish the models waiting for paint jobs (see #1). 3. Send a load of parts to Chrome-Tech. 4. Finish the models waiting for chrome (see #3). 5. Get a bunch of parts from the Modelhaus. 6. Finish the... you get the picture.
DPNM Posted January 1, 2015 Posted January 1, 2015 No resolutions either but my plan is to sell the models I know I will never get to and start on another hobby.
Tom Geiger Posted January 2, 2015 Posted January 2, 2015 Ah! The new year... we always start out with the best of intentions! Last year I resolved to finish some of my ancient unfinished models and to build cars from my past. I did manage to do that. I finished my A100 van that was at least ten years old, and a replica of a vehicle from my past, I also built a replica of my sister in law's Chevette. I got a lot of pleasure out of these two models. I had also resolved to use a slant six in a model, and I did that TWICE. There is a slant six under the A100 and my Volare! So this year? I resolve to attack more of my unfinished model pile, with my Volare near completion. That was a 20 year project so I have a good start! I resolve to build another car from my life. I am ready to cut plastic on the 1974 Mustang II coupe my wife had when I met her. I resolve to be in the 24 Hour Build in late January (this will be my third time). I plan on building a Scout II as one I remember from my past! Beyond those two, I want to finish up a bunch of 3/4 finished models that are taking up my work space. And I have way too many ideas and much too much stimuli! And I resolve to find more bench time. Modeling is like meditation, it's good for my health both physically and mentally so I need to get more of that!
ZTony8 Posted January 2, 2015 Posted January 2, 2015 My resolution is to make no resolutions. My model goals are to finish more started projects and expand and hone my skills.
Jim Whalen Posted January 2, 2015 Posted January 2, 2015 My resolution is to be more productive - I spend too much time being distracted - and that includes this forum sometimes!! I've started off well as I made use of the mild weather yesterday and got some airbrushing done. This morning I made some throttle linkages for an engine which should be finished next week. I will set goals, use the "eat the elephant approach" (for those who haven't heard this expression it refers to the idea of doing a bit at a time you will eventually achieve a lot) when I haven't got much time for building, and will try to get some model building done every day (as much as possible). Last year my resolution was to join a club - which I did, and enjoyed it very much. Our first meeting of the year is tomorrow so I am really looking forward to it. Probably the most important resolution is to ensure I enjoy this great hobby of ours and not to get too frustrated when things don't go according to plan. Things can always be done a 2nd time, 3rd time, 4th time etc.!! It isn't like I'm wasting a lot of money by making mistakes and by learning from them the building will get better - maybe...
PatW Posted January 2, 2015 Posted January 2, 2015 I built 13 last year (2014) so I must keep up the momentum. I've just finished a Tamiya Mini Cooper 'S' & started spraying a Revell Ferrari 599 GTO. I tried last year to do two a month so that will be my target.
WigWag Workshop Posted January 3, 2015 Posted January 3, 2015 1) Scratch build display shelves for the Workshop/Office, so I can safely display my completed builds alway from the cats who think they look better on the floor in many pieces. 2) Work up the courage to start and complete my B-36 Peacemaker, a build dedicated to my pops. 3) Fix the track work on my HO scale model railroad, so I can actually run some trains. -Steven
