I agree it is a very rewarding procedure in the build process. I can't say I find it relaxing though....lol. Maybe with more practice I'll think differently. But for me there are other aspects of model building that are very relaxing.
Spectacular work as always. Wet sanding between coats of clear as you have done to produce this mirror like finish is something I need to attempt. I'm always concerned about burning through the color coat at that stage though.
Turned out great Nigel as all of your exterior foiling and detail work is very cleanly done. I especially like the detailing of the interior components.
I'm not sure if that's a factory color but that green '56 Chevy is a beauty and that silver '57 Biarritz is an absolute stunner. The bright yellow and white '70 or '71 Cutlass parked next to the '59 Impala is also very impressive.
I've yet to see supplies (paints, glues, styrene strips etc) discounted since the 40% off coupon was discontinued. Those are items I need more than model kits (which I understand are occasionally discounted) currently.
Always enjoy seeing your masterful builds. I like cleanness of the 1.2 mm rivets for the door and trunk locks. Just wish I could find those or something comparable.
I've had some issues with the first 1/4" or so around the edges of the sheet not having any adhesive properties. I've also received a sheet that was cracked in multiple places making those areas unusable. Overall I do like the product however.
I've always liked the "Countdown Series" kits as they were some of the first models I ever attempted when they were new. I've never seen the "69 Cougar built as a custom version especially since the more recent release doesn't include those parts.
Great work grafting the Camaro roof onto the Firebird body. I'm looking at my Firebird which is currently unbuilt and some of what stands out is the front windshield was not brought up high enough and the rear quarters should have a more rounded appearance where it meets the back of the car. Not having your skills I'll probably just build mine as it is out of the box but I'll probably build up the drip rails with styrene rods since the trim lines are barely molded around the side windows.
The paint polished up beautifully and the interior looks very crisp. I like the exhaust tips and just purchased some aluminum tubing the other day as I'd like to use this procedure on some future builds.
