*Rust-Oleum Acrylic Lacquer Spray, Clear Gloss*
AMT68 replied to Zippi's topic in Model Building Questions and Answers
I've had that experience plenty of times. ....and I like the sound of that. All very valuable information and off to find a test piece to start spraying. -
Thanks Jim. Thanks John. Though basic it is a fun build. They were great looking cars but I rarely see them at car shows.

Thanks for the advice Dave and I plan on spraying an extra hood that I have in the parts boxes. Looking forward to Bob's results. -
Thanks Michelle. Thank you Ace. Thanks Phillipe, I've already purchased another can of this color. Thanks John, of all the great Bill Mitchell designs, the Riviera is my favorite. Thanks Eric, and Tom Thank you David, I'm still developing my painting skills so I have to be persistent at times with the finishing process. Thank you Chris.

*Rust-Oleum Acrylic Lacquer Spray, Clear Gloss*

Bob, I recently used that same product on the '64 Chevy body pictured below and it is wet sanded. I'll probably go for some additional wet sanding to improve the shine. Note this has been sprayed over a Dupli-color auto lacquer paint. Also I'm about to experiment with the Rust-oleum Lacquer pictured below on a Tamiya TS lacquer. Just to see if there would be any compatibility issues. -
Thanks for sharing the tip. I'll have to experiment for myself. Great detail work on the interior.

Spectacularly clean build.

Thanks Rich, and yeah I'd "Rather Have A Buick" like the "66 Wildcat. Thanks Ken. Thank you Ray. Thanks David, it definitely required a lot foil and patience. Thank you Lee. Thanks Bob, the color reminded me of Flame or Regal Red from that year.
-
Thanks Keith, I think the '66 Wildcat is a truly beautiful automobile. Thank you David, I have a preference for white interiors since they seem to provide a nice contrast. I have a couple more of these kits to build and definitely looking forward to building them. Thanks Dave. Thanks Alex, i think it's one of Tamiya's best colors. Thanks David and I've experienced a similar situation with Tamiya clears at times. They do however seem to hold up better to wet sanding and polishing than Testors clears. Thanks Monty, it is foil and my work in that respect is getting better with room to improve. No engine shots simply because it's just a basic build in that respect. I'm looking to head in the direction of engine compartment detailing with future builds. Particularly with these older promo style kits. Thank you Gerald.

Exceptionally clean build right down to the "Plymouth" block lettering on the hood. Looks great from every angle.

2006 reissue of the 1/25 scale 1966 Buick Wildcat painted in Tamiya TS-39 Mica Red and cleared in Testors Wet Look Clear. Used embossing powder for the carpets and brushed Pledge Revive It on the seats. There was a good deal of orange peel in the clear which required over two hours of wet sanding. I managed to remove the majority of it with just a slight burn through on the top of front fender that's only noticeable from a certain angle. A simple kit with a not so simple finishing process....lol.

Very impressive work merging the two kits. Your build is extremely clean.
-
Very nice build and looks very good in a not often seen color for a '70 Chevelle. Just beginning the build process of one these kits myself.
-
Nicely detailed build. I also like the tan interior.
-
Thanks David, I have some other kits I where this color would work well.
-
That turned out extremely nice. I don't normally build '50's cars either but I also have a '57 Chevy kit (an old Monogram release) which I'll build as my foiling skills improve since it will require patience.
-
This is a beautifully detailed model inside and out. That 1:1 is also sharp looking.
-
Thank you Carl.
-
You have a great eye for placing decals. And I'm with you on the Testors tube glue. It works just fine.
-
That's an excellent build from the paint, foil and engine compartment detail. Redlines are a nice touch.
-
Excellent build of a subject I greatly admire. I have one of these kits myself and just need to decide on a color combination.
-
Thanks Gene. Overall I'm satisfied with the build yet there is always room for improvement.
-
Thanks Dennis. These Mustangs are nice kit to build. Thanks Beamerman. This is one of many great colors from Tamiya. Thanks Keith. I like the Tamiya Orange you used on your most recent build. It suits these Mustangs quite well.
-
Thanks Chris. Thanks Bob, and that seems to be the general consensus on the spoiler.

That is one spectacularly built and detailed Nova. The factory literature on the front seat is pretty cool.
