MrMiles Posted December 7, 2021 Posted December 7, 2021 i ordered curbside pickup food from panera. i did the curbside pickup because i hurt my leg and i cant walk easily. anyway, the person never came to bring out the food, and i had to go in after waiting 15 minutes from the time i checked in. the girl behind the counter didnt even acknowledge i was there just laughing and talking to another worker. i grabbed the food and left. nothing like cold dinner
Ace-Garageguy Posted December 7, 2021 Posted December 7, 2021 (edited) Today's "irk" #1 is an eBay seller who posted a kit had been "opened for inspection", with a photo that obscured the obvious fact it had been substantially started. While the workmanship isn't terrible, there are glue smears and fingerprints that will have to be corrected. And that's not what I bid on. I have a message to the seller, and will go to arbitration if necessary...but I'm so dammed sick of sellers who either mislead bidders intentionally, or are just too stupid to recognize a fact when, literally, a blind man could. Irk #2 is an aftermarket fuel pump specified by a DeLorean specialist firm that can't even make the threshold pressure required to open the injectors on the CIS system. And as usual, I get to re-do the engineering some "professional" already got paid well for. Edited December 7, 2021 by Ace-Garageguy

I supposedly ordered their credit card, I have ZERO credit cards, for a reason. Sneaky criminals, they work so hard..... ? I figured out how to talk to a real person, so filed a report. Here is an example of one of the scam emails I got today (viewed in my web Browser). My email provider already put that email in my SPAM folder, but to show you what I look for, I hovered my mouse cursor over what looks like no-reply@amazon.com address. As you can see, the "real' address shows up in the little window below between "<>", and is the fake address used by the scammer. The genuine looking address is just a text field within the email that usually holds the name associated with the email address, but anything can be put in that field, so scammers use it to make the address look legitimate. 1

Forgot to report to G00gle as spam...... I see the discussion about headlights. The giant Ford pickups, with stacked headlights, seems like they are high beams, hating on them. I'm old enough to hate driving at night, unless it's a full moon. Some car taillights have the LED flicker when you look sideways fast, that's getting annoying too. Oh well, First World problems, could be running to a bomb shelter or simply looking for clean water. Some interesting info about modern headlights is at https://www.iihs.org/topics/headlights . We aren't the only ones noticing the problem, but it doesn't seem like the situation will ever improve. 1

espo Posted December 7, 2021 Posted December 7, 2021 Well am I the only one with this problem or is Wells Fargo at it again ? We got a text from Wells Fargo, and it was the bank, that our new account was ready and we could reify our balances online. Problem is we don't bank with Wells Fargo in any way shape or form and do not have any credit cards with them. After going thru several different "managers" on the phone we got someone who said they would flag the accounts, yes plural, as possibly being fraudulent and gave us a case number.

TEXTING SCAMS are one of the newest methods to steal from you. They pretend to be from a legit business, and they'll often offer a "free gift" you get by visiting a link provided in the text, and go from there. ------------------------------- Possibly your text was working a variation of the "you can't cheat an honest man" game: Guy who wants something for nothing and thinks the "account" is some windfall or "computer error" he'll get free money from gets directed to a fraudulent website, enters his name, DOB, SS number, address, etc., and two hours later the scammers have run up $20,000 worth of bills on his credit...or have taken out a mortgage on his house. Happens all the time. Edited December 7, 2021 by Ace-Garageguy

In most cases though, it's been an obvious ditz who's just a little out of their depth selling online.
ewetwo Posted December 7, 2021 Posted December 7, 2021 (edited) I'm selling kits on marketplace and this happens all the time. Get contacted by a person on Saturday wanting to buy 4 kits and what the postage would be. Pack them up. Replied with the total. They said can I pay you Tuesday claiming that's when his disability check would clear. No problem. Gave me an address and phone number. Went to messenger today and the whole conversation is erased. I'm a member on Facebook Good/Bad Traders List so I thought. Why not check. Did a search and there he was for not paying for kits and not delivering kits. He also told me he was a member of Model Car Magazine Forum. I didn't even bother trying the phone number because I'm sure it's fake. Scammers everywhere. Edited December 7, 2021 by ewetwo

Scammers everywhere. years ago, i was trying to sell an rc truck. this guy messaged me that he would pay me 400, which was 50 less than i was asking. i agreed to his price and asked him to send me his address.. all of a sudden he was like hold on, i need to wait until friday to see if i have a job or not. i told him i wouldnt hold it because i didnt think he would come through. on friday i asked him if he wanted it and he said no. he was just a time waster.
ewetwo Posted December 7, 2021 Posted December 7, 2021 There are a ton of those people out there. I had a different guy asked for 1 kit with postage. I figured it out and told him. No response. So at the end of the day I deleted the conversation and blocked him. I guess there are a lot of people who have thing to do except to waste other people’s time.

He may have been selling something similar, and used that tactic to keep a competing item off the table for a while.
Bugatti Fan Posted December 8, 2021 Posted December 8, 2021 You can add the Pocher kit cons to the list. High value items unfortunately attract scammers.
Mark Posted December 8, 2021 Posted December 8, 2021 Had the "can you hold that kit for me" deal happen once, years ago. A guy somewhat well known (now long deceased) asked me to hold a kit for him, two weeks later got a letter saying "I found a rebuildable one". Fool me once, shame on you. After that, it was "first person to get me the cash, gets it". These things aren't necessities, either you can afford it or you can't. And if you need to wait for money from somewhere, or aren't confident of your job status, hobby stuff should be a bit lower on the priority list...

NYLIBUD Posted December 9, 2021 Posted December 9, 2021 So Of course my check engine light on my Jeep goes on just before it’s yearly state inspection.I cleared the computer, got the light off,a bunch of stupid sensors,?,filled the tank, drove it for about 25-30 miles.Went to check the computer again, and there’s still 3 bad sensors coming up.Then just last night the light comes back on.Now i got to actually fix the sensors so it will pass inspection.Hate when this happens. It’s like chasing a mouse in the dark, lol.
Tom Geiger Posted December 9, 2021 Posted December 9, 2021 Nothing like car repairs! I was really driving, so I played stupid, said I wasn't able to get on my computer, can I call back, so he gave me a phone number. I acted all panicked to give him hope. Then when I did get home, filed an FCC report.

NOBLNG Posted December 10, 2021 Posted December 10, 2021 (edited) Decals.? I realize this is totally my fault, since I tried moving it after I soaked it down with micro sol. But I can’t help but think….would it break the bank for Revell to give us 1 or 2 extras of these extremely delicate little decals in particular. ? Even 1 would be appreciated, I mean, I wouldn’t make the same mistake twice!? Edit: There, I fixed it!? Edited December 11, 2021 by NOBLNG 1
stavanzer Posted December 12, 2021 Posted December 12, 2021 Greg, great save! I agree with you, spares of a few decals would be very nice, Round2 seems to be doing that on more and more kits. It is great when they do that. 1
NYLIBUD Posted December 12, 2021 Posted December 12, 2021 Well just wasted $120 on a fall clean up.The property looked great. Then today I wake up after a bad rain storm overnight with heavy winds. Now my property is completely covered in leaves and branches, worse than before the cleanup.Should have gone with my first idea which was to do a clean up in the spring…Oh Now just to add,and this, which has nothing to do with leaves, but i cannot deal with Liberty ins company commercials anymore.??.I thought Geico commercials were annoying, but Liberty ins commercials are by far the most annoying ones on tv.??,by far.Oh lord.

HomerS Posted December 12, 2021 Posted December 12, 2021 After the city did a survey a couple years ago, the city leaders decided to not pursue a curbside recycling program. There are several dumpsters in an inconvenient location but they are regularly filled so the residents are doing the right thing. In that survey, I told them I had no interest as I recycle the pops cans from our house as well as the mother in law's Diet Dr Pepper addiction and all that $$ goes to a specific animal rescue. Now that inflation is up, the city decided to slip one past the goalie and start the curbside program at a monthly cost of $4/month....and no way to opt out. I will continue to recycle the pop cans for the animals so I'll toss a pizza box in the bin every week just to make it inconvenient for the driver to stop every week. 1
