  1. just find your favorite older mini truck and pay to get it refurbed, you will then have a virtually "new" old truck that fits your wishes and things that usually failed can be upgraded during refurb.
  2. I think I prefer the original custom of this car over the "restyle" that happened to it... kind of like the later restyles of the Lil Coffin were jarring to people that were used to the version kitted by Monogram
  3. hmm, never noticed before that the driver-side front fender looks like a sheet metal replacement. a little photo research shows that a partial fender replacement had happened, it just wasn't an original fender that was grafted on.
  4. are you sure the salesman didn't say "Toxic Yellow"?
  5. I only learned of this option a few days ago and paid for it immediately. I just wish there was more that I could do to help Gregg to get issues out.
  6. I would have suggested shortening the body so the C pillar lined up with the door.
  7. I appreciate the compliment, the Galaxie had some good lines to start with, I just distilled it a little bit (occasionally...the blind squirrel comes up with a good nut).
  8. Here is a link to the photos (since I can't edit a thread title started by someone else). http://www.modelcarsmag.com/forums/topic/139998-desert-scale-classic-xv-april-13/?do=findComment&comment=2077482

  10. Is everyone going to be wearing their (ultra-exclusive) MCM Forum name badges to the DSC this year?
  11. I agree, excellent work
  12. careful sanding is sometimes needed. a piece of sandpaper in the bottom of a shallow bowl or cottage cheese/sour cream container may help keep the etch piece contained if/when it slips from your tweezers.
  13. better dealing with the pain before painting than after. patience ant determination are needed, some builders never make it past this stage. if your current hinge doesn't seem to work, now is the best time to re-engineer it.
  14. those should work, I suggest you test fit everything else that gets built into the dash/windshield area to ensure your hinges don't interfere with anything.
  15. I made a tutorial on this exact type of TA (just a smaller scale) for a different type of hinge that gives the same action as full size hinges. http://www.modelcarsmag.com/forums/topic/3561-making-door-hood-hinges/?do=findComment&comment=2052687
  16. This is the first I've heard this (another problem of working out of state for too long), Jim awarded me a BIS at a Motorama many years ago. I still have the model but it's mid restoration due to some panel work that was getting warpy. Not long after that, Moonlight Models was formed.
  17. if you are running a popup blocker, it may be stopping the "recaptcha" option.
  18. the link to Rico's Shapeways shop isn't working, is it dead?
  19. I concur, excellently executed
