Here are the three wedge bodies that I have. First is AMT Prudhomme, Second is AMT Wedge and Third is the MPC Spirit of 76 Yes, it is a whole new body. Notice that the original wedge has the body molded in with the wedge and that the new body is more like the MPC '76 in being two separate parts. The new Wedge is so much nicer, with the exception of the Battle Ship rivets.

Oh yeah! Need me some of those!
-
Thanks to Bob for making me realize the error in my ways! He is indeed correct, this kit and the Wedge are the AMT Ivo RED car. And not the MPC Garlits car. The Garlits car is a Garlits chassis and the Prudhomme car is a Buttera chassis. Garlits was out first with his car and by later that year, 1971, Prudhomme came out with his car.

The rivets can be removed and the the chassis and body stretched out another foot. And then the cage needs and extra upright, and the rear end needs to be switched out with a unit from the JoHan Challenger funny car. Other than that, should be almost close.

Wow! Those rivets are impressive! I might just paint it Olive Drab and call it a day!

Looks like the guy, or girl, is clearing out some stuff he scored. Just trying to move it along and make money. No need to get all twisted up over it. -
Prototype and Pre Producton shots.

I think the front tires are the Pirelli style tires that came in kits like the WIllie Borsch and Black WIdow altereds. The rears I can only assume are the thinner version of the MPC drag slicks that came in just about every kit they made in the 70's I know that the SSlasher Chevelle kit retained most of its Funny parts and then they disappeared from the scene. Here is the Vega with the only clear shot I am able to find with the tires. Maybe someone with an actual kit can chime in. -
Ooh! That should be nice!

I just recently stripped a vintage stock car from the early 70's with Super Clean and it removed everything on the body and most of the flat black on the chassis and interior. Left it in the tub for two days. Odds are this was painted with Testors paints back then. -
I would be in for a set

And I wasn't even trying! I was shocked that in a pile of airplane kids was this little gem.
