For a learning curve piece, they are not bad. And most of their stuff is now being made next to the big store names stuff.
Get it, learn it and then decide if you want to move up to a more expensive piece, like a Sheline

Here is a Nitro 426 Hemi from an early top fuel car. Notice the water necks on the front of the cylinder heads. That is how water was added to the engine. Eventually, as race only blocks where developed, water was no longer used.
I almost exclusively use Tamiya Acrylic paints. Easy to mix, easy to airbrush and clean up is not as messy, plus they dry fast! I also use their acrylic clears.
Oh, indeed, it is a great car! Very comfy and they where quite reliable, for a 70's car! I was just confirming the car size comparisons of the time and the normal car observation.
