Looking good, David! I like your color choices in the interior! It beats red and white! ??

Wonderful work here, Greg! I looked through your WIP and you have a lot of patience and skill! Nice work! ??

Finished the interior today. My wife said she didn't like the drab olive. I informed her that it wasn't drab olive but Italian Olive, which is much more classy. She didn't buy it. I think it will look fine once installed in the body. I get tired of black or black and white. What do you think? Thanks for looking! ?

So I am back on this one and foiled the body and painted all the other parts. I wanted to kick myself for forgetting the rear corners when I painted the body. So I had to drag out the compressor and air brush again and paint the rear corners and attach them. I worried about whether the paint would match but it turned out pretty well and glued it in place without any problems. the only parts left to paint are the engine block and a few miscellaneous parts like the master brake cylinder and booster. Hopefully, the pre-wired distributors will be shipped soon. I'll start with th e interior next. Thanks for looking! ?

I just finished this one today while its raining in Southeast Texas. Painted with Willow Green MCW lacquer from and airbrush. Interior is black and white Using Krylon paint. I added plug wires, heater hoses, a fuel line with filter, air conditioner compressor support, and alternator bracket. I didn't use the red Foose decals as they wouldn't go well with green so I used a black pinstripe around the belt line from the decal stash and also a heavy blackwash on the spokes of the Foose wheels. Thanks for looking! ?

Thanks, Carl and David! I appreciate your comments! Yes, it was two of those days! Its finished! I didn't use the Foose decals since they were red and wouldn't go with the green so I used a black pin stripe on the belt line and did a heavy blackwash on the spokes of the Foose wheels. I didn't "Foose it" I "ModelcarJR'd it! LOL! More photos in the "Under Glass" section. Thanks for looking! ?

Thanks, Glen, Noah, Jim and David! I appreciate your comments! Well, I have had a couple of bad building days. Or more specifically, I spent yesterday correcting the problems I created for myself the day before. Two days ago, I finished the chassis, installed the engine and installed all the window glass. Yesterday, I had just glued in the interior, let the glue dry with clamps on the cowl and was ready to mount the body onto the chassis when the left wing window fell out. I couldn't re-install it with a long toothpick and some Handi-tak because the steering wheel was in the way. So I had to take the interior out and breaking the firewall glue joint. So after the wing window was glued in with some Elmer's Glue this time, and the interior was rebuilt and re-installed, I mounted the body onto the chassis. The rear wheels didn't look right and I then noticed that axle was a bit crooked so I had to take it apart on one side and reassemble. i then put the chassis oyn the desktop and one wheel was not touching. The front suspension uneven so I had to take it out as well (its a one piece assembly that mounts separately) taking the engine mounts with it and leaving the engine suspended by the exhaust pipes, radiator hoses and transmission glue joint. I reinstalled the assembly getting it in level this time and now it sits fine on four wheels. So now I am at the final stages, its on four wheels and all I have to do are the bumpers, grill, air conditioning plumbing in the engine compartment, and decals if I can find the right ones to replace the 409 decals in the kit. In my earlier days, I may have given up and put it back in the box and moved on but I persevered and got it back together! Thanks for looking! ?

Thanks, Bob, David, Jeremy and Carl! I appreciate your comments! Finished the interior and the decals fit well although its hard to see the speedo under the plastic glass. Seems to be just the right mix of black, white, and chrome, IMO. A nicely designed interior. Thanks for looking! ?

Thanks, Jeremy, Bob, and David! I appreciate your comments! I will be back to this one after I get the 65 Chevy finished. Thanks for looking! ?

Thanks, Jim! I appreciate your comment! Finished the engine this morning. I added a MAD pre-wired distributor with Pro Tech wire looms and plug boots. I also added a fuel line with a filter, a support for the air conditioner compressor and an alternator bracket. And now I am going to add the fan that I forgot to attach. Oops! Thanks for looking! ?

I got something done on this build today. I finished the foil on the body. I have taken photos without the light directly on it or you wouldn't be able to see the foil due to the color of the paint. I also show one with the light on it. But i always think that if its hard to see the foil its done well but that might be a little self serving. Thanks for looking! ? Light on the subject Lights off

I painted the body today and have both the 65 and 68 Chevys done. Now I can work away on the 65 which I rubbed out today, despite the rain starting tomorrow and over the weekend. The 68 looks a little lighter than the 65 probably due to the fact that I painted it over gray primer instead of the silver (actually Evening Orchid) base that I used on the 65. But both look good to me and their was only 1 little tape pull by the wing window on the right side that I have already brush touched up after I took these photos. So, I got two bodies painted from my last bottle of MCW paint. Thanks for looking! ?

Thanks, All! I appreciate your comments! Paul, I use the MCW lacquer paint and it doesn't have to be thinned, normally, and I didn't thin the Evening Orchid. I guess I wouldn't be so upset if MCW would have said sorry for the mistake and sent me a new bottle of paint. But instead, he insisted that his paint was correct and that the Pontiac that I painted with the same MCW paint under the old owner had too much color in it. Further, he is not taking any new resin orders because he is 3-4 month in backlog. Sounds like to me he is in over his head and doesn't need any customers. So I will oblige! No progress today as I have been working on a 68 Chevelle in order to get it painted before it rains and use up the last of my MCW paint.

I bought this kit and one other one about 5 years ago, I think when this new tool was new on the shelves. I remember walking into Hobby Lobby, looking over the shelves and being disappointed that it wasn't there. So at this time, Hobby Lobby normally had some kits that they put on the clearance isle marked-down. So I went over there and lo and behold there were two of the new 68 Chevy Chevelles marked down to $7.49 each. I couldn't believe it! So I scooped up both of them and paid $15 for kits that should have cost $60. This is the second of the two. I have already built the other one. The reason I am building this one is two-fold; Its going to rain all weekend and I want to have something else to work on in case in case I finish the 65 Chevy. I know that is wishful thinking but the other reason is, I want to use the rest of the Willow Green MCW paint and then I will be done with it. The 68 has two colors that are very close and this will fill in for a substitute; Grecian Green Metallic and Seafrost Green Metallic. Close enough. So I added a vinyl top using the 2" tape method, primered, and then painted the vinyl top and black around the rockers. I'm getting better at the vinyl tops but the hardest part is gluing down the border using .020" plastic rod. Tomorrow, I'll tape off the french fry tray hat for the top, tape off the rockers and airbrush the Willow Green. The MCW paint will be gone and I'll have a painted body to foil. Thanks for looking! ?

Thanks, All! I appreciate all your comments! ?

Well, I corresponded with MCW and he says his color is correct, I beg to differ so I will not be buying any more paint from MCW. I repainted this one with Willow Green Metallic and it came out great with 1/2 oz. of paint. A nice pastel green metallic. So Carl, you got your preference! I like it too it is just a shame that the Evening Orchid didn't work out. I'll add a coat of clear and this one will be done with paint. ?
-
Thanks, everyone for your comments! I airbrushed the Evening Orchid today and was disappointed. After 3 sessions of applications, about 3/4th of an ounce which is a lot of paint for an airbrush, all I got was silver. Obviously, not mixed right. I've got a message into MCW to see if they will send another bottle. Or I could just paint over it with the Willow Green. I'll have to think about it. ? Same paint, same airbrush, different ownership of MCW

They didn't bother to change the decals. Surprise!
-
Thanks, all! I appreciate your suggestions! Jim, the box or instructions don't indicate what engine it is but the decals indicate that it is a 409. Looks more like a 396 to me because it doesn't have those big valve covers. Both colors are nice pastels, but I think I am going with the Evening Orchid. But the next build will have the Willow Green.

I will be starting this one next. I built it a couple of years ago and I liked how it came out. That is Light Blue Metallic that I painted it with previously. I have two bottles of paint from MCW that I am thinking about using; either Evening Orchid Metallic (also known as Iris Mist) or Willow Green Metallic. Both are 1965 Chevy colors. Evening Orchid was also a color for the 1965 Pontiac which I have used before. So I won't be painting tomorrow because its going to be windy and cold but maybe by Monday the weather will be better. I'll be getting the body ready tomorrow and I think I will do this one in the Foose style with the wheels and engine suggested in the instructions. I am partial to the Evening Orchid but what do you think? Thanks for looking!
