  1. Thanks, Daniel! I appreciate your comments!
  2. Looking good! Nice color and excellent kit bashing! ??
  3. Looks pretty good from here. Rustoleum's Extreme Lacquers were Testors One Coat Lacquers previously. So I don't know how many coats you have but one should do it if have complete coverage and are satisfied with the finish. Looks pretty smooth from here but you might want to lightly rub it out with 6000 - 8000 cloths and then give it a coat or two of clear. Or you could clear it now and rub it out with the clear coat on it after, if you are satisfied that the finish is smooth now. I never clear over decals and always apply decals at the end of a build so I don't damage them during the building process. Its up to you but that's what I do. Good luck with the rest of the build! ?
  4. Thanks for the photo, John! Yes, I was aware of the earlier Bugattis that raced at Indy but was hoping I would see a Typthis e 59 in the 30s. Anyway, it is a interesting piece of racing history and the model is an interesting piece of model history! This one is done! I forgot to paint the hood belts so I will do that in the morning. No engine photos as it is not detailed and mainly just painted silver. I'll post these in "Under Glass" too. Thanks for looking! ?
  5. This is a Grand Prix racer and won the Belgian GP and placed in other races in Europe in the 1930s. I bought this about 35 years ago and I thought at the time that maybe a Bugatti might have raced at Indy in the 1930s. And the price was right, although it is 1/32 scale, it was only $6.50 at the time. Unfortunately, I can't find any documentation that this car ever raced at Indy. I have been cleaning out the closet of some old kits so this one is going to get built as well. It is a very simple kit with 4 parts trees, 1 chrome, one body color, light blue, one black and one clear, plus some number decals. I started by using some Tamiya smoke on the chrome wire wheels that turned out pretty well. I also dechromed some engine parts and painted them. Its been raining for three days at various times so it have been hard to find a window to paint when the humidity was low but finally painted all the body parts the same color as the plastic, Tamiya Light Blue. I also painted all the other black parts and the dechromed parts. The paper covering the decals, which is not suppose to stick, actually stuck to the decals. I have managed to apply one to the radiator and get rid of the paper with some water but I don't know how the other two will come out. So, I have done some detail painting and now I think its time to assemble. Should have this one done in the next day or two. Thanks for looking! ?

  14. I saw one of these in the latest issue of Model Car Magazine in the 24 hour build section. I remembered that I had one of these in the closet! So I dug it out - a Blueprinter special from 35 years ago. So I already have my entries for next week's show completed and written-up so I thought I would just go ahead and build this one for grins. I don't have many WIP photos since this one moved pretty quick so I'll post them here. I had to do a little body work on the sink marks so it looks a little better. The paint is Dupli-Color Flash Red and Krylon Satin Sand Dollar (Tan). I preferred the tan to the white on this one. Its built box stock except for the Fireball Modelworks Goodyear decals that I added and sanded off the raised letter Goodyear on the tire. It went together surprisingly well but of course the chassis and engine were a bit disappointing and simple with metal axles. But nonetheless, it built looks pretty good for such an old kit. Thanks for looking! ?
  15. Yours looks a lot better than mine, Bob! Nice work! ??
  16. That is certainly different, Chuck! I like it! ??
  17. Thanks, Steve and Chuck! I appreciate your comments! ?
  18. Nice looking Hudson, Mario! I like this kit and have built it once and have one more in the closet. You did a really nice job on yours! ??
  19. Very nicely done! The paint looks great! ??
  20. Really nice looking Corvette, David! How did you do the dash gauges? I don't think there were decals in these old kits. They look great! ??
  21. Thanks, All! I appreciate your comments! ?
  22. This is the 35 year old "Dick Tracy" AMT kit. I painted it Brilliant Blue with a Krylon Satin Brown Boots interior. I used the engine from the 1960 Ford F-100 pickup that I have just finished using a six banger. I didn't add any plug wires, etc to the engine. The rumble seat works and I substituted tear drop taillights that happened to be on the chrome tree for the stock taillights. I also didn't use the bumpers and brackets from the kit as the brackets were too long for my liking and I don't really care for the Art Deco style of the stock bumpers and taillights. The tires are wider than the kit tires from the parts box and I painted the wide whites using a circle Template cut onto an index card and taped down with four pieces of doubled-over Tamiya tape. I used Tamiya white primer spray on the tire and touched them up with Tamiya Acrylic white. Wheels are also from the 1960 Ford F-100. The side mirror is fashioned out of an extra mirror plate and a straight pin. I think I need to blackwash the engine and the wheels a bit but haven't done that as yet. Thanks for looking! ?
  23. Thanks, Dan, Bob, and Carl! I appreciate your comments! Dan, looking forward to the show at the end of the month. See ya there! This one is finished! I didn't use the kit bumpers and brackets or the taillights since I really don't like that Art Deco style and the brackets were too long. I used tear drop taillights that fit the fender which just happened to be on the chrome tree in the kit. The bumpers and brackets are extra parts from the parts box that came from a 48 Ford convertible. I fashioned a side mirror from spare mirror and a straight pin. The rumble seat works and the hood fits reasonably well. I used the engine from the 60 Ford F-100 that I didn't use in the pick-up build. I did turn the fan belt around and painted the extra plastic on the left of the belt to look sort of like an alternator of sorts. I didn't bother with any detail, such as, plug wires on the engine. More photos in the "Under Glass" section. Thanks for looking! ?
  24. Finished the interior and the wheels and tires. Not much in the interior - painted Krylon Satin Brown Boots with a Brilliant Blue dash, steering column and wheel. I painted a set of tires in the parts box using a circle template cut into an index card and secured it to the tires with four pieces of doubled over Tamiya tape. I used Tamiya white primer and touched it up with Tamiya acrylic white. Doesn't look too bad! The wheels are from the Ford F-100 pick-up that I just finished. I also used the engine from that kit with a few adjustments but I didn't do any detailing so not much to see there. I had to add a piece of channel plastic to the bottom of the fender unit to mount it on the frame in order to raise the front end a bit so it at least might look like the front wheels have enough clearance to turn. Such are the vagaries of scale. Some of the photos are mock-ups but the last photo has everything glued together. Now I just have the final pieces of hardware to glue on after a good coat of wax. Thanks for looking! ?
  25. Thanks, Jack, Bob, Carl, and Bob! I appreciate your comments! Jack, glad to hear you made it through Beryl ok. See you at the show at the end of the month! Carl, the interior color is Krylon Satin Brown Boots. I'll have additional photos tomorrow. Working on the engine, chassis, wheels and tires. Thanks for looking! ?
