Welcome aboard Steve! -
If you go the AMT Catalina route I have a spare chassis/suspension if you need it.
-
Where's the donor coming from?
-
You pointed me in the right direction Steve. I looked online and see them on the '64 Bonneville. If anyone has a need for any of these parts let me know. They're yours. Thanks

Nicely done on a tough kit Helmut!
-
Great builds! Favorite is the '47 Chev.

The build actually took a couple of months or more Mike. I stockpiled the pix as I went along and tried to put them in somewhat of an order when I posted in WIP. I'm definitely not a fast builder

Maybe, but I'm not sure I'm ready for another project like this ?

Never intended to be a show winner, I'm happy with the end result of this family car although there are many things that could be better. Two of the things I would've like to have done was to redo the windows to better replicate the 59 and add "Plymouth Suburban" scripting on the rear fenders. I really couldn't figure out a way to add the scripting and decided against attempting to mess with the greenhouse windows as this was my only donor. This one goes into the display case as is. The donors were the '59 Johan Fury HT and '60 Johan Cop Wagon. Exterior is Tamiya gray primer, Folk Art Succulent craft acrylic thinned with washer fluid, and Tamiya clear. Not remembering what his interior looked like I made a combination of Krylon Catalina Mist, Folk Art Greenscape and Ceramcoat Ivory. His car was a business stripper so no whitewalls. I made the Madison Scout decals. Thanks for looking

Wrapping this up to the point where I felt it was a decent enough replica of his 59. Made side trim from two sizes of round and half round stock taking care to try and keep everything somewhat level and straight, but the two sides came out not identical to each other yet close enough I guess. Needed to sand the trim after this to get them from standing out too much. Made up four door handles from flat and half round stock Needed to take a small section from the chassis to get the wheelbase right Finally into Tamiya gray primer Base color coat of Folk Art Succulent acrylic That wraps it up. I'll post a few pics of the finished build after all paint and assembly in the Under Glass section Thanks for following and the comments. Frustrating at times but I'm glad I did it.

Work finished on trying to recreate some of the tailgate features from the 59 and my attempt at making a passable wagon rear bumper from the HT's . I decided to leave the Plymouth script where it was on the 60 tailgate. A bit of Bondo Getting close to the finsh line

Beautiful job Carl!

Great save... looking great! The big Imp's have always been my favorites.

Just found this thread and loving your work Bill. Lots of effort and it's paying off.

Thinking about coming back into it...

Welcome back Ozzy! -
I used the interior from a 59 Fury. I used part of the Fury body as a donor for the 60 wagon project so I found myself with that interior available. Fit beautifully, although I had to add some 020 stock to both sides to fill the gap between the body and the interior. I'm ok with cheating a bit with authenticity... it ends up in my display case anyway ?
-
I don't change them from the 60. I had enough on my plate with what I had. The 59 was definitely a bit different but this was close enough. Another one of my lines in the sand ?

Did this Dodge in parallel with my 59/60 wagon project and it helped fill the time during the drying delays on the wagon. I usually start with built-ups in worse condition but this one was actually in really good condition other than having to remove the skirts and source a replacement interior as this one had the dreaded glued-in cloth interior. I've never found a way to remove that stuff and have anything decent left afterwards. I used Scalefinishes Mocha and Tamiya X-10 Gunmetal. Lots of foiling/detail on this one with BMF and Molotow.

A few pics of the blending of the front clip. Filled as much of the gaps with various sizes of stock and then used either superglue or putty. The passenger side cut had a bit of an angle after I'd cut it that's why it looks kind of weird with that piece of sheet in it. I needed to try and keep the clip level with the body. Here's one of my having to grind away part of the 60 rockers to look more towards a 59 plus it helped line up with the bottom of the fenders The taillights were my nightmare. Lots of restarts and re-do's with them. Still not super happy, but...... Thanks for following along

Made a good trade with Bill (Bills72sj) for some 67 annual mustang parts. Thanks Bill!

Thanks for the comments about memories from doing "family" builds. It sure helps when you hit roadblocks in the build. Pics today are more from the blending of the rear fenders (I didn't include pics of the passenger side as they were pretty similar to what I had to do on the driver's side), adding the 59 roof perimeter trim (if I remember right it was 020 round stock) and removing most of the 60 trim from the tailgate. I ended up leaving the Plymouth script where it was, even though the 59 was on the opposite side of the tailgate. I drew the line many times during this build . Added a section of sheet to build up a depression in the fender
