  1. Looks great Tom, will you have it buttoned up this weekend?
  2. I really appreciate all the support and encouragement from everyone. So I have turned my attention to the chassis plate while I let this coat of primer cure out for a few days. Everything that was black spent days in the purple pond with scrubbing every day and after going over it with a pick, this is as good as it gets. I know it will never be seen but still want to put some detail on it.
  3. Great '59 Elcamino Tom. One of my favorite cars of all time. I just picked up an original just for the camper. Nice save by the way.
  4. Great trade with James Maynard.
  5. Thanks ! I think I am looking at three or four. I really hope it was worth tuning in for. This little car was really abused. I have the first round of filler on the rear quarters and new I would need more, but this coat of primer really highlighted a number of gouges. The hood and trunk script were already sanded off as well as half the door handles and the chrome trim around the horizontal recessed area. So since it was already nosed and decked, I finished the job by shaving what was left. Even though the upper areas of the front and rear window trim were sanded pretty thin there should be enough definition left to mask off and chrome.
  6. Thanks Roger. It won't be as clean as yours, that's why I am painting it white. White hides a multitude of sins. You ain't just whistling, that's why we pay it forward. You know Ricky, you just might be right. You're not a lot older than me Misha and I still remember seeing the Mastadons coming out of the Ark. ? Cheers! I knew you had an ulterior motive. Thanks everyone!
  7. I have been plugging away at this little Falcon for awhile now. JC said it was time for a wip, so if it stalls out, blame it on him. ? I picked this up about nine years ago and brought it out after completing the Ranchero and Sedan delivery. It was painted brown with the rear wheel openings cut out. I dumped it in the purple pond and found black under the brown. I also found that the ob used 220 grit to prep before painting it black. It has been a struggle to say the least. I knew I wanted to put the stock rear wheel openings back in and Tom Geiger sent me a donor body. I hated to cut it up, but... Did I also mention that the window frames were missing ? So I cut out the rear quarters and window frames from the Ranchero and grafted them to the Falcon, then had to make rear window frames out of styrene. After that I threw a coat of primer on it to see where I was at and applied the first layer of filler. So here it is...
  8. These came in the mail today. The Ranchero parts and the wheels came from members, the Elcamino and Buick are from ebay.
  9. Great trade with spencer1984. ? Big shout out to fordf-150 !
  10. Just so you guys know I have not disappeared...completely. I have finished my B.R.B.O, and a couple of squirrels. I keep beating those pesky little things off, but somehow they worm their way in.
  11. I will consider it JC, but if it ends up being the kiss of death...I will blame you. ? I think I like this stance better on the '41
  12. Need ? for that pic. You need to warn a guy. Well, here is another one that found its way to the bench. The chassis has been finished for about 10 years. Now to build the engine while the paint cures out. Oh, and talk about squirrels...
  13. It is a whiskey tumbler. The point fits between your ring and middle finger which allows you to palm the glass comfortably. It was a gift from all my kids for our last anniversary. (My wife received a new camera strap) Thanks to the stimulus check, I splurged for a good bottle of Irish whiskey. That may, or may not, have stimulated the creativity.
  14. Thanks Tim, and yes, stepside. Here is a pic. It is sidelined until I replace the steering gearbox. As my sister's father-in-law once told me (rancher in eastern Wyoming) when I borrowed one of the old ranch trucks, "son, you're gonna have to ride herd on that one".
  15. I really like what you have done with this. I have one that needs to be finished. I did pull it out of the closet and sit it next to the bench. That is progress, right?
  16. Don't forget the retired owner of Model Express, up in Canada. He has a sweet 56 chevy sedan delivery IIRC.
  17. I have always had a problem with a combination of squirrels and the grass is always greener. Most of mine were not show quality, some were nice daily drivers, and the rest were running and driving projects. It all started with the 1953 GMC I fixed up enough to be my high school driver. You would call it a survivor. All original corner window cab right down to the 16 inch rims with dog dish caps...with a 68 Ford 302 and 3sp. Next one was another survivor. 57 Ranchero, 312 3spd. Nice daily drivers of a 65 Falcon Futura with a 68 302, and a sweet 68 Cougar. Aquamarine blue and dog dish caps with a 351c under the hood. Also a 62 Ranchero. Another 68 Cougar with a 302. These were all the nicest looking ones I owned. 65 Impala four door hardtop with a mild built 68 olds 455 under the hood. Worn black primer and a blast to drive with that 4:11 posi. Currently in the garage is my 53 F-100 short step. It has a rebuilt original six cylinder four spd combo, but my father-in-law has a 53 flathead I can have... Sometime this summer I am bringing home my 38 Buick special project. Brand new rebuilt 52 straight 8, same engine as the original, but better innards. Plan on dropping it a couple inches, adding dual carbs, header, and finned aluminum valve cover. Leaving the original faded black paint with red rims. Projects that never hit the street are too numerous to mention.
  18. Looks great Tom ? You can do mine now, only two shelves are needed. ?
  19. Take a look at the roofline on his car and compare it. ?
  20. I wonder if whoever was creating this was watching an episode of Columbo at the time.
  21. I restored one myself, and built one from a kit, and used another chassis under yet another build. I still have parts left over. Check with me first if you need anything.
  22. I will be following your floor job. I have a couple builds I need to get creative with.
  23. Ha! I know a family of ranchers in eastern Wyoming. Really nice people who bleed Ford blue. They will put a ford in anything. The grandfather is 6'4, skinny as a bean pole, wears a 20 gallon cowboy hat, and drives a 5.0 ford powered Jaguar e-type. I have pics. The son has a 64 Falcon, flathead powered flamed 40 ford coupe and 32 roadster. The grandson has a 67 mustang and a 57 Belair four door sedan. His grandfather gave it to him when he turned 15. He proceeded to put a 351 Cleveland in it. They quit opening the hood at car shows when a member of the bow tie brigade took some serious offense and started a knockdown drag out. ?
