Marcello Gandini RIP
1959scudetto replied to 89AKurt's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
One of the greatest ever car designers whose creations put Lamborghini on the map, but a nice, quiet and modest man - here is an interview with Marcello Gandini - Bertone's chief designer from 1965 - 1980 (English subtitles available) about the creation of some of his most famous designs: and here is a slide show with all his creations - simply unbelievable to watch:- 1 reply

Looks very good, Pierre - I think there is something great coming (as are the Borrani wheels Jason developed last year). A great benefit which could broaden the interest and of course the area of application when it is not restricted to only the MB 300 SLR but even others which look very similar - here is to prove a pic taken just now from 2 of my books: 300 SLR (left) and Ferrari 250 LM (long nose, right) - a compromise I could definitely live with!

Allan, these Cobras are excellent builds - I especially like the '64 Daytona Coupé. I'm sorry for the tragic loss of your brother. -

Very nice GT40, Phil - with excellent detailing and modifications -it is really a shame that no good Mk I with engine is available as kit (Fujimi's proportions look much better to me than those of the others). -
Very nice, Pierre - this is my personal favorite among your many awesome race car models (I have a soft spot for the Ferrari 250 series) - especially considering the kit you had to start with. I followed your WIP and admired all your body surgeries: you turned this ugly ESCI (amt) model into a real Ferrari !

Very creative diorama, Shawn - in reality, this would be the ultimate barn find!

Though not my favorite Ferrari, you turned this into a spectacular model, Mario - very well done (as always) !

Very nice build, Misha - it was a delight to follow your build and watch the whole thing come to life. The exhaust pipe alone is a model in itself - even the underbody looks great. The only small drawback is the kit tires (I have 4 of these in my stash) - if Aoshima only had supplied period-correct rubber !

Superb model - at first glance when watching the first pic, I thought that this would be the original 1:1 car and not the model - awesome!

you turned this kit into a wonderful model with an outstanding paint job - color looks fantastic!

Well done, Anders - with an excellent paint scheme.

Some very well done paintings, Allan, that capture the spirit of the old days in a most excellent way. My personal favorite here is John Surtees in his T70 spider.

Excellent detailing on the old Heller kit, Ken - your upgrades lift this to another level and give us some new ideas (f. e. dashboard)
