  1. Thanks, Alan - Gareth has already informed me that Humbrol paints are no longer what they used to be.
  2. Many thanks for your tutorial Steve - the simple solutions are often the best! It doesn't get easier than that !
  3. Thanks, Chris ! Thank you, John ! I would say JoHan kits often are lacking in details, but their proportions always look spot-on! Thanks, Lee!
  4. Great model, Albert - with Kowalski's license plate (Vanishing point) !
  5. Thanks, Bob ! Thank you, Gareth for this info - I wasn't aware of that - it must be far more than 20 years ago that I bought my last Humbrol paints. Thank you, David - glad you like it. I prefer rods and customs with a certain amount of chrome as in this case - I don't like the monochromatic paint jobs of the late 80's and 90's (chromeless, too), but this is a matter of personal taste.
  6. Looks very good, Alex - have you lowered the front a little bit? Did the kit have any issues (I have it in my stash, albeit the Lindberg version - when it came out first) ?
  7. Around 1986 I built amt's 1953 Corvette - it had some issues and was that ugly that I ordered Fred Cady decals from Model Empire to turn it into the 1954 Carrera Panamericana participant: in its first international competition, the corvette was ill-fated: a rod punched through the Blue-Flame Six and the race was over. I swapped the stock for some red-painted spoke wheels, removed the teeth grille, replaced it wire mesh and applied the decals. I'm sure I have made many mistakes in some details, and I had to guess where the decals might go - there were no templates or photos available that could be used as a guide. Anyway, though the car still looks ugly, I took it out of the closet, applied road dirt and grime with some pastel chalks and took a few pics:
  8. Spectacular builds, Jürgen - I admired them already as a load on the transporter.
  9. Thank you Bill! Thank you Frank - the interior is still unpainted - the kit was molded in that cream color.
  10. Thanks Walter - if I had it still today, I probably would detail it with parts from Revell's Starsky & Hutch Fran Torino and paint it in dark green like in Clint Eastwood`s movie.
  11. Thank you, Michelle - a detailed kit of this car would be fine! Thanks, Eric! Thank you, Dave - I like that body style and I think JoHan got it right. Thanks Jay! Thank you. Larry! Thanks, Richard ! Thank you, Ray - I like that car, too (that's why I kept it while selling off all other muscle cars from my collection) Thank you, Gene.
  12. Thanks, Carl - I like the shape of this car !
  13. Thank you Rusty - Humbrol paints are ideal for brushing and lay down very well - you are right: the paint looks like a mixture of red and orange (the orange indicators in the 1st picture are more yellowish than the body, and if you look at the rear light in pic 2, you will see that it is not red, but maybe in-between)
  14. Thank you, Anders ! Thanks, Jim! Thank you Gareth - those Humbrol paints are ideal for brushing and lay downvery well - I've been using them for 50 years now - but unfortunately they seem to be no more available here. Thanks, Dennis - I like the '70's look with some chrome accents.
  15. Thanks, Ray! Thanks, Dave 1 Thank you, Glen! I like that body style. Thanks, Mike! Thanks, Larry !
  16. My last remaining muscle car: JoHan's old snap-kit out of the box, automotive laquer spray-painted, wheels from the (amt) parts box.
  17. Thank you very much, Anders - this was a labor of love for me - together with the 250 GT Lusso and the Miura this is my favorite Italian sportscar.
  18. Thank you Gareth, the engine with its different color shades was built exactly according to the informations from the owner. By the way, the 2nd engine would not have fit into the model - the exhaust headers stick out too far - the built-in engine has them much tighter to the cylinder block.
  19. Very nice early GT40, Gary - the conversion work really paid off ! (the GT40 is my all-time favorite racecar since I had the Matchbox diecast as a kid)
  20. Thank you Anders, that is too kind of you.
  21. Thank you Gareth - I have sold off all my muscle cars including this one.
  22. Thank you, Michal!
  23. Awesome looking late 70's truck, Ken !
  24. Now for something completely different: Though i'm not into street rods, I wanted to have at least one typical example. In 1983, when one of the hobby shops in Vienna closed, I caught this: 1/24 Monogram 1934 Ford Roadster from the 1974 "Early Iron Series": once again brush-painted with Humbrol orange, it has a typical '70s look (at least to me) - the soft-top has been covered with clear matte which has started yellowing over the years - will get a repaint.
