Time to update this build. As with most of us, life has a way of getting in the way of bench time. It looks like it has been about a year and a half since I've updated this thread. Fortunately, I have built other models in this time frame. I've recently had a minor surgery and am off of work, so I thought it would be a good time to work on this model. I would like to have this finished up by the end of September so that I can enter it in a model contest. I have decided to keep this model "box stock" so that I can enter it in that class at future contests. On to the update! The tire on the left has the decal applied and the tire on the right has the decal coated with dull coat.

OK, trying to bring this one back to life but have been having trouble posting to this thread.

I'm not too computer savvy. I deleted browsing history and cookies. Funny thing is, I cannot load the forum after this happens. Even weirder is it happened on my Windows computer and my android phone!?!? I had to wait about an hour before I could get back on the forum. After I made the posts in this forum, I went back to the "on the workbench" forum and tried to post text and one picture and got the 404 error. It should be noted that today is the first time I've had problems posting. Thanks to anyone for any help provided!

Both. This is the edit. I'm just typing to see if it has anything to do with the length of the text, as that is the only thing that I have changed. Sorry for wasting anyone's time. It is very frustrating to load text and pics only to get the dreaded Error 404, repeatedly.

Testing here, seeing I just wasted a ton of time trying to update an older post of mine. OK, would not post a pic. Let's try it without a pic.

I think you have done a great job on this. You are probably the only one who sees your mistakes, I sure don't! Great looking piece!

Empty bench, feels strange
Nacho Z replied to Oldmopars's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
Usually after the completion of every build, I will do a deep clean of my bench and my supplies. I put all of my tools back where they go. I do a check of my supplies; am I almost out of glue, certain paint colors, misc. supplies, etc.? I clean up all of the bits of sprue and sanding dust, stuff like that. For me, it is a good feeling to have a clean bench. Good luck on your next build! -

I think you did one heck of a nice job, Chris! We are our own worst critic. Trust me, you will just keep getting better and better. Again, Chris, great looking model! -
Great stuff! Thanks, James, for posting all of this.

I believe this is the first time I've seen a model of this car. I really like it. You did such a nice job on it. Great work! -
Wow!! Beautiful model! I'm with everyone else, such a great color. It looks right on this car. Great job!

Darn fine work there, Mike!

Love it!! It looks like you did an outstanding job on this one. I personally love doing decals. They certainly can be a challenge. How was this one as far as the decals fitting and settling down?
-
Gorgeous looking model! Looks great from all angles. Nicely done!

There is a radiator in the kit, kind of, but it is not very detailed. Take your time and think out how to do the roof. I glued mine on and fixed the horrible fitment issue. I then cut out the cab floor and put the interior side panels in through the bottom. I then glued the cut out floor piece back in. Good luck on your build!
-
I agree with you about the rear tires. I just used what was in the kit as this was going to be a quick build. You would need much wider tires to accurately replicate the real car.
-
This was meant to be a quick build. It turned out that it took a little longer than I had planned. The frame was badly twisted. There is a lot of flash on the chrome pieces. The biggest problem was the fit of the roof piece to the cab. It just doesn't fit. Look at other built examples of this kit and you will see what I mean. I spent a lot of time getting the roof to look right. Lots of filling and filing. Here is the kit that I used. Here is the final result.

Hobby shops in Pittsburgh, Pa
Nacho Z replied to Brandon17's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
Hobby Express and Auto Models LLC are both great. Hobby Express has tons of goodies. I can spend hours in there. I have spent a gazillion dollars with John at Auto Models. There is nowhere, that I have found, with better prices than John. One word of caution. Check with John at Auto Models before going to his store. He goes to a lot of contests as a vendor and his store hours are hit and miss sometimes.
