  1. Looking good! Between you and Dann, you guys have me chomping at the bit to pick one of these kits up. I asked over on Dann's build, hope you don't mind if I ask here. Are all of the Hasegawa Miura kits, the one with the chassis number on the box, basically the same kit?

Real nice! Never underestimate what can be done with snap type kits. Your Vette proves what a nice model can be made from one.
  3. Thanks again, Tim, for the help. I tried to Google it again with different combinations of "Asia Pacific" series with no luck. I find it so very odd that Fujimi did a kit of what appears to me to be a very obscure car. I have spent literally hours over the course of the build looking for pictures of this car and have not found a single one. I found the source of the picture you shared and it appears it is the only one he took of that car...lol.
  4. As always, great stuff going on here, Dann! Always a pleasure watching your builds come to life. I do have a question regarding Hasegawa's Miura kits. Are they all the same? I'm referring to the kits that list the chassis number on the box art. Hope that makes sense. Thanks!
  5. Thanks, Tim! You don't know how many times I refer back to the picture you posted back on page one. I actually have not found a picture of this actual car on the internet. I have Googled the series, the car, the team and the driver....nothing! There are tons of pictures of a 1:18 diecast...lol!
  6. She looks great, Bart! You really nailed it. I love that overhead shot.
  7. I like it! Nice looking model. I think he has the sponsorship thing covered...lol.
  8. Time to start laying decals. As seen in my last post, the decal sheet is very large at 11 inches long. The car is mostly covered in decals. I can tell you now that the decals are pretty thick. Maybe a better way to say it is "stiff". They do not like to conform, especially the reds and blues. I have resorted to Solvaset. I did another quick mock up to check body and interior fit. And one more mock up.
  9. Wow, Joe, you really knocked this one out of the park. Bravo! Great looking car on all fronts.
  10. Super nice build, Jason! The photographs really show it off nicely
  11. Now that is pretty cool! Looks like you did a nice job on it!
  12. Are you kidding me?!?! How awesome is this car?!?! I love it! Love the story and the build details too. I will have to find the build thread and go through it. Beautiful job!
  13. I have the forum saved on my laptop and cell phone. I stay logged in. Other than the hiccup the other day, I have not had a problem before or since. Really strange.
  14. Doggone, Dan, do you have any models that aren't gorgeous!?!? You, Sir, are one beck of a model builder!
  15. I like them both! The Blancpain is so nice and the street version is a real beauty! Great job on both of them.
  16. Miles, on this particular build, I used Micro-Mesh polishing cloths and Gravity's polishing compounds. This was the first time that I've used Gravity's compounds. They are very nice and worked great.
  17. I said earlier that one of my least favorite things to do is masking. I know it has to be done but I hate spending all of that time laying down tape just to take a minute or two to paint...lol. My favorite thing to do is decaling. I know there are builders out there who avoid decals like the plague. I must admit that I have never really had a bad time with decals. Over the years I've had a few issues but I have never had a totally disastrous decaling session. Here is the decal sheet for the F430. I try my best to trim my decals as close to the actual image as I possibly can. Some decals have a ton of carrier film that will show up on the finished model. I have a good pair of scissors that I use to trim that carrier film off of the decal. Here is a quick mock-up. The body is just sitting on the chassis. Decaling has started on the other side of the body.
  18. Hmmm, I popped into my local Ollies yesterday and they barely had any kits at all. Do you think the kits you picked up were recently added to your store?
  19. Hi Rodrigo, this is John, aka Nacho Z, from The Mad Modeller forum. It is good to see you over here at MCM. Your Edsel is outstanding!
  20. Thanks for the comments, guys! Over the years I have used a number of different options. I have used the Eduard belts. I did have trouble with the paint flaking off. I have also made my own.
  21. Man, I just LOVE that box art in Casey's post, (a few post above this one). I can't help but think the box art alone sold many, many kits.
  22. "suctioned to the seat"...yup, I agree with you. Of all of the tasks to build a model, masking is probably my least favorite thing to do. I don't think I'm good at it and to be honest, my results bear that statement out. This Fujimi kit does not have a full drivetrain. It has this little insert. Fairly hard to detail paint. It will be fairly visible in the completed model so I did the best I could. Masking up the exhaust. I often use Silly Putty or Blue Tack for masking. Here is the final engine bay. The blue stain on the exhaust is exaggerated in this picture. It is much more subtle to the naked eye.
  23. I really enjoy these big scale kits. There is so much room for adding detail. The Tamiya kits have a lot of detail right out of the box. Your Ferrari looks very nice.
  24. I have not been very active on here for awhile. I have been off of work the last two weeks due to surgery. I have been on here much more and am finding and taking time to read through some threads. What I have noticed is you and I have many of the same build interests. This kit is another one we have in common. For a long time this was the most expensive kit that I owned, (I actually have the Testors kit). I doubt I will ever add as much detail as you do but you are an inspiration for what can be done. I really appreciate the amount of work you put into your builds and even more so, I appreciate how you are willing to share how and what you do to achieve it. This hobby could use a few more modelers like you!
  25. As has been already stated, so great to see you back! I count you as one of my favorite modelers. I am always amazed by how "clean" your models are, how smooth your finishes are, (not just body exterior paint), and how the colors and textures are spot on. So, welcome back! and I look forward to seeing what you have in store for us.
