  1. Esci in the late '80s also had a 190, in several versions
  2. It's a '71, but a great build nevertheless!
  3. I assume there were not enough pre-orders to warrant a production run. Also think they don't want to step into the same trap like Lindberg, "some" old tooling has scrap metal value only. As far as listening, companies look at (past) sales revenue, when choosing new items, and look at consumer-feedback to see how products are received by the general public and how to improve the satisfaction rate, within boundaries. Again just my humble opinion. Luc
  4. Not Art, but IMHO it would be wiser fro Moebius to "post" photo's of the subject on their website, for reference to build the kit. In a perfect world, a pictorial sequence as per instruction sheet would be the way to go, maybe we can talk Art into doing just that when the first test shots come in.... Art are you there?
  5. One word: "Licensing"
  6. There were kits of the years you mentioned, by both Amt & MPC, but they are annuals which fetch a decent buck on feebay, certainly the '71 & 72. MPC in the '80s did offer a '71 again (later re-released by Amt too) but it's a '73 with some minor mods. Luc
  7. Gregg, do these paper towels have cotton in them? The reason I ask is that I doubt that the brand you mention is available over here. Thx Luc
  8. If you wish to have specific info, please list some cars you'd like to build, or the era you're interested in. I would suggest some 1/24 (ex-)Monogram cars to start with, you can pick 'm up on feebay relativity cheap they're all glue kits, but not that difficult to build and look nice when finished.... Basic tools needed: Pliers, to safely cut parts of the sprue's Modeling knive (no cutter knifes) to clean up the parts Sanding sticks: to removing mold seams etc.. Liquid glue Paint bottle and brushes(for detail painting) Paint "rattle" can, to paint large area's like a body. HTH Luc Janssens Belgium
  9. You're partly right, cuz how often do you see older un-build kits on ebay, that go for much less then the newly re-released item.
  10. My view on this is that they should consider placing ads in magazines that 40-50 year old males read and AARP publications too. It's the pond where the largest catch is, and with the right bait can be lured back into their favorite past time from when they were kids again. Also I'm wondering if the make and take program with pre-paint snapper cant' be tried out, in the homes for the elderly, as sort of a group team building effort. Just my view on the matter. I can be wrong and have been in the past Luc
  11. In the past there were company reps who interacted with the public in forums, but since a few years, there's no more active involvement. I'm guessing they weigh the pro's, cons and percentage of useful info they can pick up, against the costs of having an employee participating or just reading and filtering useful info. Also there's a saying, talking is silver, but silent is gold, especially to prevent the proverbial slip of the tongue when a competitor is reading that same board. just my thoughts on the matter. I could be wrong and have been in the past Luc
  12. You're right, the Turbo Trans Am was announced in the '80 catalog (carrying snowflakes) but the real kit in the '81 catalog show "flying saucer" wheels, it's kit #2605. The 6.6 with snowflakes, is announced in the '87 catalog...and has product-number, 2611
  13. IIRC...it was first released as a Black '79 with those "flying saucer" wheels, then a few years later came a "copper/Gold" turbo with the wheels like the '77 -'78. I'll try to check my Monogram catalogs later in the day....
  14. I doubt it, I'm wondering if those kits weren't marketed to be "large gift" from "loved ones" to give something substantial to their husband, friend or son. A market totally lost IMHO, due to the availability and wide range of 1/18th die-casts. What I'm wondering about is, if it would be possible, to use a Monogram '81 Trans Am, "in part or whole" as a tooling model for a brand new 1/25 scale kit? Luc
  15. My dad found some great stuff while doing a online search, he found a Chinese company which sells 1/24 scale RC combat tanks with a whole lotta features, then searching a little more, he stumbled onto a link to accessories where he found 1/24 scale Jerry cans and Oil drums… Anyway, he placed an order (two sets for the grand price of $15.00, including shipping), and got the parts last Friday, they do look good as I saw them today, anyway took some pics from one set we opened.... The manufacturer is “VS tank” (Look for “upgrade parts” in one of their German WWII tanks selection) Luc Ps: A special thanks to John K. Dezan, for hosting the photo’s.
  16. Art, are they scanning the parts then, and feed that data into whatever steers the milling machines? Interesting approach, do hope that Dave posts pics. Thx Luc
  17. Hey that looks fantastic!!! Thanks for showing!!
  18. How did you get yours, via mail order or local hobby shop? I pre-ordered one with HW Japan, but nothing has been send yet.
  19. I know what you're talking about Marc, close to 10 years ago I was able to buy a mint Airfix '67 GTO, which was no more then a re-boxed Mpc annual for the UK market and was amazed on how much nicer and crispier it was, compared to the last shots which came from that tired tool. more photo's of this kit on the Ultimate GTO website Luc
  20. Uh...Steve...please send all those leftover up-tops to me then!!!!!!!
  21. Chris, the Internet is fast and as a result news soon becomes history, no more no less...
  22. Hmmm, I see you think, "I'm gonna drive this baby out of here, just try to catch me"
  23. Indeed, Bob, most of the 2010 Revell Germany lineup was released to the public on January 1st 2010, but the Amg Mercedes SLS was announced at the Nürnberg trade show.
