  1. I get the email notifications too, and I laughed out loud when I saw that one for a buck shy of $45k. Yes, they quickly corrected the typo to a more affordable $449.99 - but still a ridiculous price to pay. Alas, I continue to wait for a reissue or an actual deal, and that’s ok.
  2. Another beautiful truck! Great color choices.
  3. This is a neat topic, great stories! This was my first vehicle, and I am lucky to still have it, my ‘86 Eddie Bauer Bronco. My father was the second owner, bought it in ‘92 and then it became mine when I got my license in ‘96. It was certainly beginning to show its age. It was my daily driver through high school and college, and my father and I did a basic restoration in ‘02-04 (shown in the photos above) and it continued as my daily driver and then a secondary vehicle for nearly the next ten years. Incredible memories in that Bronco over the decades. It currently resides solely in my garage, in need of major engine and body work, but it will ride again someday. I have plans to replicate it in 1/25 scale, of course.
  4. It would be neat to see Moebius take a stab at the 80-96 generation, especially the 80-86 F series and Bronco. But, because those years exist (though much could be improved) in kit form, I would guess they’d stay away from them for now. However, being the 1:1 73-79 generation is increasing in popularity in the collector market, more and more as time passes, I can see them moving that direction soon, and then eventually into the 80’s. It seems that our present day new kit and reissue market is often a reflection of the current wave of nostalgia for 1:1 classics. That wave is usually centered in whatever is 30-50 years old at any given time.
  5. His product line keeps getting better and better!
  6. This will be a good one to watch.
  7. That’s an excellent combo. A great example of a 1/24 tractor and 1/25 trailer working perfectly together. Love the finish and decals. Nice upgrades to the tanker, and I like it in white. Looks like a restored trailer in its second life with super singles and new paint, and the truck has been taken care of over the years.
  8. This build shows every bit of the potential of these often-overlooked kits. Beautiful.
  9. For truck modelers the best is stainless steel from Plano Model Products. They have a large amount of stuff geared towards model trains, but they also have mesh specially made for 1/24 and 1/25 trucks for grille screen, including the standard apex slotted, round-hole, and Peterbilt oval mesh. http://www.planomodelproducts.com/scratch_scq.html
  10. Very true, members could adapt and become more descriptive in their titles, but I don’t think they will in most cases. It places the responsibility of creating a user friendly platform on the user, rather than the creator. That never works in the real world. As a result, I believe now a thread question has less of a chance of being answered thoroughly because the members who normally browse the Truck Stop are not going to take the albeit small, but extra effort to browse a broader category and differentiate content titles. This is especially true when a broader category with more frequent new posts will drive a thread downward on the list and over to page two more quickly. I understand the desire to consolidate and simplify, but in this particular case I believe it is at the expense of a valuable resource to hobbyists. There are separate truck and car categories for all other facets, including workbench, under glass, aftermarket, and industry news. This is to make it more user friendly. Can you imagine the confusion and awkwardness if any of those were merged? The general discussion is no different, especially as it pertains to specialized subject matter.
  11. 100% Agree! I spent most, but not all of my time, in the truck section and I’m extremely disappointed to see “The Truck Stop”, one of the most useful truck categories, merged into a huge blanket category of general discussion. Now it is harder to figure out if it’s a useful new thread or not. For example, I’d never click on a thread title of “22 inch wheels” in a car section. Those are silly. But I’d always click a title of “22 inch wheels” in the truck section. A HUGE difference.
  12. Great work. Really nice looking paint. Excellent photography. It’s builds like these that do the best advertising for the kit. I’d like to get one of these now.
  13. That’s a great looking rig.
  14. Throw some orange stripes on that white 579 and you’ve got yourself a fleet. Nice work, and a great way to display your cars. I’d love to see a group photo of your enclosed car haulers, too.
  15. Very cool work, neat project.
  16. The hauler bed is looking good. I like the taillight treatment and the RV 5th wheel.
  17. I like the aero skirts. Are they 2-ply?
  18. Looks great indoors or out, but yeah, what a difference natural light makes on that paint!
  19. It’s a great article, thanks for writing it! I love the articles that group kit history based on subject matter. A very useful resource.
  20. It’s probably hard to predict what kits you could “invest” in, (and really not the best financial plan anyway) but this one has been good choice. I bet you could buy two kits when it’s released, build one, and later sell one and easily get all your money back.
