I was wondering about that. I bet you’re correct. Thanks, good to know. I would have been disappointed if I grabbed one thinking I could build it stock.

I imagine it’ll have the stock parts, like the grille, hood, mirrors, etc. Hard to tell, but looks like the side of the box shows the stock version?

Year model of Big Rig Truck Kits
vincen47 replied to leafsprings's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
This list will be a great resource. Thank you for your willingness to post and edit. You have 1995 for the Italeri Western Star 4800 (really a 4964, or Classic, on later reissues) I’m not certain, but I believe that should be a decade or so earlier, correct? The original kit was released in 1989, according to scalemates. Also, for the Peterbilt 378, I remember Tim Ahlborn saying it could represent up to a 2002 model, the last year the DD series 60 was offered. But, I recall something also about the kit’s dash determining the model year up to the year 2000. Likewise, the 377 being a 1995-2000 representation. -

Absolutely excellent! Again, you’ve captured that period-correct look, right down to the spot-on weathering and details. -
Thanks, when I see builds with this level of finish quality, I always wonder what quality materials the builder started with, but knowing full well that it takes skill to put them to use. You’ve got great finishing skill and talent, that’s apparent. I’ve seen great results from Zero Paints, I may have to check them out more.

That’s a color you don’t see much, what paint is that? Nice look. -
Peterbilt 358 twin stick 1100 cab

As I commented on the Model Truck Builder forum, you’ve got the perfect balance of weathering to make it incredibly realistic. -
Excellent finish. What black paint and clear did you use?

Glad this will be available as a tractor again. Decent box art, except for the rear axle, not sure what they were thinking with that.

Ford Aeromax 120 RV Truck Conversion
vincen47 replied to vincen47's topic in Model Trucks: Big Rigs and Heavy Equipment
Yeah I wanted to add the trailer to the thread title, but I can’t edit anything in the op now. I appreciate the compliments. Thanks! I’m glad you like it. -
Chevrolet Silverado C-1500

One of the best examples of this kit I’ve seen. Very realistic, some of those shots with the backdrop need a second glance to see if it’s a real truck or a model. I also love the stock look. Extra impressive work on the front clip, especially the headlights. You even drilled out the tailpipe and added a real spare tire, amongst all the work to detail and realistically mildly weather the chassis. You have a winner. The planning and craftsmanship is evident in every aspect. Above all else, you produced a fine model of a subject not many appreciate enough; the everyday, every man’s pickup truck. -
Nice! I don’t recall seeing anyone else do a daycab conversion on a T600 here, much less one in 1/32 scale. Unique and cool.

BRBO 2020 ProStar and Race Trailer
vincen47 replied to kilrathy10's topic in Model Trucks: Big Rigs and Heavy Equipment
I’ve always liked your trailers. They are one of those items we all wish the model companies made in kit form. But, as we see, scratch-building them can pay off well. -
Great Scott! Nice build.

Payhauler 350 Build.

Here’s another one. Looks like a more modern truck and trailer than what you’re going for, but it reinforces your thoughts. -
Where can I find a resin 1/25 71-72 Ford LTD?
vincen47 replied to philo426's topic in Model Building Questions and Answers
Not resin, and not much less expensive, but a currently available option could be 3d printing. Madaboutcars on Shapeways offers ‘71 LTD coupes and sedans in smaller scales. He offers several bodies of other cars in 1/24 and 1/25 and he’s willing to “scale up” his 3d prints. I asked him to scale up another offering, and he happily did. His newer designs in the larger scales are mostly shells - much more ideal for conversions than the more expensive (and useless) ones that look like a solid block of plastic with windows and tires attached. -
Very true.
-
Yeah, definitely looks nice with a frame stretch. It’s been said that the frame length is prototypical and matches an available factory length right out of the box, but it really does look a little too short, at least from what I’ve seen on the road.

Custom 379 finished...
vincen47 replied to Mike77's topic in Model Trucks: Big Rigs and Heavy Equipment
Nice build! I made a reply post on this truck a couple days back, but that thread vanished. Still, a great show truck. -
Once more we remember.

D.A.A.M. show for November 2020 is cancelled
vincen47 replied to ZTony8's topic in Contests and Shows
I sure hope the spring show can happen. I was wondering how November was looking, so I checked this area of the forum. Disappointed, but not surprised. Understandable that you’d have to cancel.
