  1. Nice custom work, unique and well done. I like the engine conversion.
  2. Wow that’s cool!
  3. You’re off to a good start with this one, the daycab looks great.
  4. Unfortunately, number 90172 is 1/4 inch in diameter, that would create 1/8 inch radius. They also make actual quarter round styrene rod, but the biggest is .125 or 1/8 radius, too.
  5. Yeah, the closest thing to it I could find was 1/2 inch half round (1/4 inch radius, half inch diameter). I was able to find 1/4 inch quarter round wood, which I thought could be smoothed and used to create a mold and then cast resin quarter round. But, I eventually was able to find the 3d printed frame option, though it wasn’t cheap. Ideally, 1/4 inch radius quarter round plastic or resin would be needed if I wanted to make a bunch of these RV conversions and stacker trailers (which I do) economically.
  6. No problem. And, your racing trailers are really nice - more stuff we all wish they made kits of.
  7. Yes, the radius corners were a huge sticking point and the search for suitable material contributed to slowing the project down. Most all of these 1:1 conversions have a 5 or 6 inch radius to all of the corners, and that was a must for this project. 1/4” quarter-round is really hard to find. I finally found 1/2” half round from Plastruct, and ordered direct. It’s not styrene, it’s butyrate, Product number 90176. Still would require splitting it down the middle, of course. I was about to start the project with that stuff, but happened upon an eBay listing for 3D printed truck sleeper frames. I bought one frame, a 120” version with an angled front wall, (used part of it to make the bunk, and for below the floor line) and also asked the seller if he could make them longer, and he was happy to do so. I sent him the specs I was looking for, a 1/24 scale 100” width and height, and 288” in length. The seller is thorloveseleanor. He doesn’t list anything like it now, but I bet he would still make them. There’s a market for stuff like this. Having the frame basically ready to go has simplified and made the build much easier and faster.
  8. There is a 2012 Ram Quad Cab Dually available now in resin by a guy named Rob Burns. His email is robertburnsjr101@yahoo.com, you can order through it or use Facebook. Here’s a link to his page and full list below. He has pictures of the Ram on his page, and it looks very nice. The only issue would be sourcing the interior and chassis. I haven’t investigated the best option for those yet, but I would like to get the Ram in the future.
  9. Old projects never die, right? I’m back at this one and it’s going well. I have the coach body roughed in, and most of the major components in place. There’s a lot of filling and sanding to do, along with the lower panels and bay doors. Then it’s off to the detail shop, adding all of the vents, awnings, drip rails, windows, rivets, etc.
  10. Thanks! I’m glad it will inspire future truck projects.
  11. I’ll get one, I have a soft spot for the boring everyday cars you see on the road. Don’t get me wrong, I like building vehicles that are the stuff of dreams and legends too - things that are the focal point of a collection. This isn’t one of them, of course, but it has its place.
  12. I’ve got my eyes on the 77 Town Car and Mark V, along with the 2012 Ram. I’d like to get those some day. So far, I’ve ordered the 73 Country Squire. I can post pictures of that when it arrives.
  13. Thanks for posting the link, he’s got a lot of really desirable vehicles. A huge list of stuff not found anywhere else.
  14. jlrahmo@aol.com is the email I have.
  15. You’ve got my attention, I’m eagerly waiting for more info too.
  16. Thanks! I picked it up many years ago when it was re-issued, glad I did. It’s been a while since it last came out, I think, so maybe Round 2 will bring it back.
  17. I’ve had good results going slowly with a steady hand, but that doesn’t always work. If you get a tiny bit where it’s not suppose to be, you can usually gently scrape it off with a hobby knife tip. The stuff has good surface tension so it usually goes only where you put it and stays there. Sometimes stubborn to coax it into spots, but better than it running everywhere like crazy. But for masking, you can try Molotow Masking Liquid, it also comes in a pen. Or, any number of actual masking tape varieties of various widths. But, some of the best masking comes from using, ironically, BMF for masking. It’s a bit more of a hassle, but to prevent paint from bleeding under the tape, a good tip is to lay the tape, then seal it with a spray of clear, then paint as usual.
  18. I’ve ordered direct a few times before, and the service was great. I prefer to buy through Jamie if possible because shipping is so expensive ordering direct. Plus, Jamie is a great guy to work with.
  19. Thanks! I should have taken a “before” picture. The whole project started when I thought “I should put some mirrors on this thing”...and it went from there. It’s a good promo to begin with, but it lacks all trim and detail paint, like door/window trim, handles, tail light and bumper trim, etc. I black-washed the interior. I also did black on the recessed chrome of the grille and wheels. Added rubber black paint to the bed to simulate a bedliner. I notched the tailgate, and painted it black like a custom one you’d see on these trucks before they (might) get a coat of matching paint. Probably the biggest thing the promo lacks is side mirrors. Having to come up with those is what took me down the “dually” style towing package road in the first place. I kitbashed those from the parts box and some RB motion bolt detail. Scratch built the running boards/mudflaps/towing electrical and added the all towing equipment from Scenes Unlimited. The cab lights and new tires are from Fireball Modelworks. The promo tires looked wimpy. The tool box is from BNL resins, with Molotow. The Rubbermaid cooler is a 3d printed item. Plain ‘ol aluminum tube for the exhaust tip. There’s a kit of this out there, but it’s basically an unassembled promo, I don’t think it has anything more to offer, but it’s still nice.
  20. I made the mudflaps front and rear this morning, added them, and I’ll call this one done. Again.
  21. Thanks! I just realized looking at the photos that I forgot to put the mudflaps on it. I’ll have to add those tomorrow.
  22. Here’s a 95 Ram promo that I upgraded with several added details, parts, accessories, and paint. When this generation of Ram came out, I was just starting high school, and it looked so cool...
  23. Thanks everyone for your kind words. Yeah, I love the propane tank, it’s a 3d printed item from eBay, I just painted and weathered it. The seller is icemancollections. He doesn’t list any right now, but I bet you could ask him.
