Peterbilt 377 with sprint car trailer

Very cool! The graphics are impressive! -
Aughhhh!! The 389 is being retired?????
vincen47 replied to clayton's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
Don’t get me wrong, the 567 is a really nice truck, and evolution of design and tech is inevitable. It pays tribute, in a way, to the classic design that says, “This is a Peterbilt.” It’s not bad at all. But parked next to a 389, (or better yet a 379) there’s no comparison. The 567 and others will always be in the shadow of what I think is the true icon of the American road. Even if production stops, there will still be many out on the road for many years to come, and at shows to enjoy. Still sad to see the page turn on them. Like many, I like the trucks of my youth. Nostalgia will always be one of the most powerful influences in deciding what we think is cool, and there’s nothing wrong with that. Embrace it! -

Neat project! What’s noteworthy to me is your ability to trace the history of the truck. Makes the build more meaningful, especially as childhood nostalgia. The real truck in 2011 looks like a good candidate for a model too. Looks like they replaced the aluminum front wheels with 2 hole steels, and maybe the rears too. They also cut holes in the bumper for fog lights. Even looks like they’ve got a set of mismatched (drive?!?) tires on the front too. With the dented tanker in grey primer, it’s a cool, somewhat-of-a beater rig, still earning its keep. -

I like what you’ve done with the classic IH Red Detroit, especially the rust texture. -

Nice job with that, and it’s good to see you building again. -

I heard that too, from an unconfirmed source a few weeks ago. If true it’s very unfortunate. And this is a time I’d say “I reject your reality and substitute my own”. -
Looks beautiful! I don’t think you’ve got anything to worry about. I think the Molotow finish is actually better than kit chrome at replicating polished aluminum wheels. In theory, you don’t even have to touch them in a visible spot to mount a tire and put them on the truck.
-
Yes, it needs to fully cure in any case. I’ve never tried to polish it, but I’ve never needed to, or wanted to polish it. I’ve had good luck with it, but I’ve only used the pens so far. I will try airbrushing it soon. I think it’s a good product that’s worth more experimentation from all of us. I haven’t resisted using it because of fears of touching the part. I simply don’t touch it, nor would I allow others to do so. Granted, I’ve only used it on trim, emblems, and other parts that are already in place on the model, so the Molotow finish doesn’t have to be handled.

Ford E Series Club Wagon
vincen47 replied to cargostar's topic in WIP: Model Trucks: Pickups, Vans, SUVs, Light Commercial
Yes! Yes! I’m cheering on this project, especially if you offer it in the future. -
The Transtar II has to be one of the most wanted reissues. I’ve been patiently waiting for years. I’d take a resin one, if that was an option. Speaking of resin, It’s not a modern-tool styrene kit, but KFS did make a high quality resin White Road Commander. Granted, it’s expensive. KFS recently sold the tooling and rights of that kit to Auslowe. Nice Box Art. I like the stripes from the truck used for the box too.

A very worthwhile save. Great work.

Another great one! You always capture the style of period so well through your paint and decal choices. The lighting and background also enhances the very pleasing overall effect. -

I think we’re all wondering about it. Is it your own design you’ve had printed? Looks like the start of a great project.

AMT to Rebox Italeri Kits Plus other Announcements
vincen47 replied to steel_tiger1's topic in Truck Kit News & Reviews
Interesting. I wonder what box art and decals we’ll see? Also, I wonder what other Italeri re-boxes/reissues they’d release if this joint venture continues? Good idea about the HL 40%. That would make this a great thing. -
Excellent! Great water and I like the topic title too.

Greenlight is expanding its 1/24 “Hitch & Tow” series of trailers. In addition to the four original vintage models (with numerous paint schemes each) of a 1964 Winnebago, 1947 Teardrop, Shasta Airflyte, and Airstream Bambi, they’re offering a 1958 Catolac (I wasn’t familiar with that one) and a modern 2017 Winnebago Winnie Drop. It seems they are offering them first in 1/64, then some eventually in 1/24. I hope that continues, their 1/64 line of trailers is nice. My dream would include the 1/64 motorhomes in 1/24, but that probably will never happen. I’m glad they’re offering a modern one, I’ll pick one up for my 1/24 scale camping enthusiasts, it’d look great behind my Meng F350. http://www.greenlighttoys.com/index.php?id=466
