Thanks Robert, I will try this, I'm guessing you would use a naked flame for the heating? -
Airfix Jaguar XKR GT3 1:32

So this was Clear Coated with Proscale 2K using Mr Thinner The finish is terrible, there are pin holes where the paint didn't want to sit properly, I even (at the time of painting) tried to move the clear coat over the "dip", but it didn't work - there are a few places like this in the wing- you can see a big one over the "M" of the decal - I'm assuming this is due to it not being clean - I did clean with mild dish soap & a soft brush... Then the main body is a mess - quite rough, lots of graining & orange peel. So it's going to be sanded, but there are a lot of curves and details, will be difficult to do this, but I'm going to try! -
Beautiful looking Aston!

Airfix Jaguar XKR GT3 1:32
Funkychiken replied to Funkychiken's topic in WIP: Other Racing: Road Racing, Land Speed Racers
Decals applied & split on the rear quarter on both sides, but the rest of the decals went on OK - only with a lot of decal softener. As can be seen, the decal softener left lots of marks on the decals, it didn't clean up with soap either, hoping that it cleans up with clear coat. I have bought some Green acrylic, and whilst the lid looks the same as the bright green decal, it goes on a lot darker, I'm going to mix it with white and try again. -
Minor update on this kit. I did a spoon test on my creamy yellow - looks great in the bottle, but its too yellow on the spoon. So i pivoted and now going with Tamiya TS-40 spray can which is metallic black Next up is probably focking and assembly of the interior I have some other nearly finished kits before I start coating the body shell

SPrayed with Alclad Black Base that was purchsed as a base for chrome. it required light coats with 6 to 7 mins drying in-between coates. I oversprayed it, had to sand it back and go again. I pre-assembled the wing - but really struggled to paint it without getting poor coverage in the corners or rough finish everywhere - had to be really light coats & lots of sanding inbetween. Not looking forward to clear coating it... ready for decals! -

Hey Eran, great build so far! How did you get those dash buttons painted so sharply? They look very good! -
To be honest, I did get a little annoyed at my Aoshima GT35 build, the paint job being a bit crappy has pushed me to start another build. I have made the grey version of this, but wanted to make this black version too. These little Airfix 1:32 scale kits are reasonably well detailed. Allows me to practice my clearcoat skills too. The interior has been started and the build shiots will be added soon... Box Art: Chassis: The interior tub was painted with Tamiya LP - thinnned 50%, and masked for Tamiya Acrylics As you can imagine, the roll cage was made up in the interior tub, then removed for painting

OK, so back from Bulgaria & straight to Mardid for Business, but got some progress on this and another model on the go. Chassis is now built the floor plan is also prepped for body colour - hope to get a test spoon sprayed this weekend. The interior parts were masked for black bits - they were sprayed today with X-18 results hopefully tomorrow! shown is the centre console, the dash & the steering wheel, not pictured are the door cards.
