1/25 AMT 1963 Chevy II Station Wagon with Trailer
ChrisBcritter replied to Casey's topic in Car Kit News & Reviews
The V8 from the original '63 hardtop and convertible kits will drop right in - although it has a manual transmission. -

40+year-old thumbnail sketch: '62 Dodge kustom
ChrisBcritter replied to ChrisBcritter's topic in Auto Art
That was the idea - Exner to the Max(ner?). I resisted the urge to toss the parts, and they came back to CA with me for a someday project. Wonder what would make a different engine? Maybe a V-12 based on a pair of Slant Sixes, one turned front to back? -
Tim, any word on whether they're still negotiating with Chrysler or Stellantis over the '62 Mopars? Or... dead issue? Realistically I suppose only the Plymouth Fury would be a potential seller, perhaps if a Max Wedge setup could be tooled for it.

My username sounds like something I would have gotten in third grade, but it's a much more recent invention (from 2011 when I joined the H.A.M.B.). It was just something that sort of rolls off the tongue easily, and of course it's a play on words from the old Post cereal Crispy Critters. The avatar is a shot of my old '62 Imperial at a vintage service station in Altadena, CA, taken back in 1983: The whole car:

You're doing real well on this Imperial, David! Trust me, that grille fit issue has been there since the beginning - I have an original issue kit that needed the same surgery. Then there's getting the roof to line up with the vent windows...

At Walmart (at least one store)
ChrisBcritter replied to Classicgas's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
Checked Yucca Valley's Walmart; no kits there. Bit of a kit famine here compared to Northbrook; only one Walmart here and the three nearest Hobby Lobbys are 60-mile round trips. -

I was just now watching an episode of Forensic Files; the investigation featured the use of a rubber product called Mikrosil for taking impressions of the murder weapon (knife blade). The product was a reddish-brown goo in a tube; it was able to take very fine details. Not cheap at $30.55 per tube but might be useful for some applications. https://www.csiforensic.com/m7/%233-0100--mikrosil.html Oddly, this strongly resembles a product sold by Bare-Metal a long time ago - Tom Piagari had a tube of the stuff that he used to take impressions of Cadillac emblems for me and he said he'd had it for a long time. It was also reddish-brown but was one-part rather than two-part.

Some vintage images from the estate of Otto Sauseng, a German emigre who came to the USA postwar and became an engineer for Hughes Aircraft. These were dated July and November 1965: I didn't go there until '89 or '90 when my younger brother came out to play in the college student Dixieland band; he got some tickets for me and since my late BFF Eddie was a huge Disneyland fan, we went there and had a great time - Small World and all. I never was a huge fan of the place, to be honest, but I did go once more several years later when another friend whose partner worked in payroll for Disney got us in.

1/25 AMT 1963 Chevy II Station Wagon with Trailer
ChrisBcritter replied to Casey's topic in Car Kit News & Reviews
Flo, please... go. Hmm. No Hemi display engine this time? Not that I mind, if it was a choice of that or the trailer. -
Not much difference between removing that amount of flash and cleaning up a seam.

Any up dates on the Moebius chevy II gasser ?
ChrisBcritter replied to Mr mopar's topic in Car Kit News & Reviews
Yep - interesting kits with issues here and there. I've scrounged two '34 Ford coupes and the motorized T coupe as future projects. -

No, not Palmer problems. Maybe Aurora problems... -

What’s your favorite television show
ChrisBcritter replied to slusher's topic in The Off-Topic Lounge
One I forgot: Password. I enjoyed it when I was a little kid in the 1960s, and the old shows hold up now. Plenty of the recordings have survived (a lot of shows haven't!) and are on YouTube. -

New Dodge Muscle Car for '24?
ChrisBcritter replied to MrObsessive's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
Bringing back the Polara name would be cool, at least. Monaco does have more of a racing connection, but Dodge only put that name on luxury cars.
