  1. Hopefully your home issues are done for awhile! Grapple will really be cool
  2. Reached the primer stage today on the frame and got the orange sprayed! I picked up a can of rusto allis Chalmers orange for the body , and wanted to see how it looked . Sprayed a test on a spare mack hood.. Weird how lighting makes frame look blue..its light gray primer lol. Planning to paint the sander hopper / frame semi gloss black. The hood will get its flat black anti glare panel also
  3. Outstanding fabrication those corners look absolutely awesome
  4. Very unique truck there Kerry !!! Right up your alley
  5. Your build looks fantastic !!!
  6. Cool car ..and great color ! Might be posted in wrong forum though...this is the big rig section lol
  7. So we're almost a month into the BRBO already, and have a serious amount of building going on !!! Thanks again to everyone that's joined up and participating!!
  8. Definitely looks like Tamiya Buff , deck tan is more gray
  9. Charles - I'm noticing several areas that need sanding w finer grits after taking photos, so I see a few primer sessions
  10. The sander chute looked pretty bland , being a fairly large part , I figured it needed some details . The spinner wheel is a scrap piece of 060 " drilled out for its driveshaft . A few small paddles went on next . Ryan Pedone sent me a couple hydraulic motors, so I drilled out the base to fit the driveshaft. The real one had small brackets welded on the chute body w linkage rods to adjust the angle on side flaps..and small hinges . A few pieces of 90 angle drilled out and strip made a fair representation. The product door needed its lift bar still. I made one from square tube , and small brackets. The crank rod is copper wire mocked up. I may make a handle from wire insulation to fatten up the crank rod . I'm getting very close to primer now ...
  11. Nice job!! I always tend to over look the lift cylinders, yours look good
  12. Awesome build , your paint job looks fantastic on the Pete
  13. Awesome job !!!! This is really gonna be cool build. Best part your working knowledge of how these trucks can be spec'd out . Usually hear bad fitment issues w these kw t600 cabs , your definitely whooping into shape Don mills sells those d ring door latches perfect for your truck.
  14. Looking forward to your updates !!! Best part of model building is changing it up
  15. Thanks Dennis ! I'm very impressed how well those welds took to bending . I squeezed w flat pliers after shaping , but they added that personal detail to the wing
  16. Wow awesome color combo !
  17. Fantastic work going on ! Are you planning twin booms like the big stick Pete's or more like a holmes ? The color choice will definitely make your build stand out !!
  18. I screwed around with the interior today while we were getting hammered w rain and slush. We've had such a strange winter here in CNY , several feet below average. Digging thru random parts bins turned up a few suitable seats , not exactly like the real one..but the driver / wing man gotta be comfy! Also being an older steel truck, figured they would need something to keep em warm while busting snow.. found this red box inside a dm800 parts truck..hmm..add louvers and pipe it should look okay . The circle in middle was spotted on photos The wing man seat needed hand controls, photos showed bars attached to the dash going down into the floor, w the controls in the middle..first add the bars .. Then patiently drill out a valve to hold the hand controls..I used small diameter tube and brass pins for handles. Later epoxy will make the knobs While I was working on the wing stuff I decided to try recreating the weld date on patch. Using the smaller welds in the ctm set , I shaped the numbers w tweezers and pliers..very impressed how flexible the etch is . Holding them w blade , then slowly touching the edges w super glue capillary action sucked the glue under the welds thanks for following
  19. Very interesting project, will definitely be following! Its certainly eligible for the BRBO....wink wink
  20. Killer paint job !!! Do you rattle can paint or airbrush? Definitely easier making smooth tanks w pvc , these r gonna look awesome
  21. If your on Facebook, check M & R wheels also, they are machined aluminum and very nice..reasonable pricing too
