  1. Whatever plastic Monogram used to use in their kits was pretty opaque and they came out of the moulds with a high gloss, so they didn't look as blatantly "plasticky" as some.
  2. Some of those old Monograms look really nice in their bare plastic. I've done a couple that way myself.
  3. Yes, the idea was to maximize aerodynamics. You can definitely see the influence on later C3s
  4. Agreed. Some people take it as a personal slight if you criticize metal axles. This is still stuff that's nice to know if you want to use it. Thanks for the tech info, Bill!
  5. So very true. It's why I hope Round2 brings back the Astro-Vette
  6. To their credit, Round2 has been putting money into upgrading some of those old moulds.
  7. One thing to watch out for when putting together large styrene sandwiches together with solvent adhesives is that the solvent is still leaching out months, or even years later, and the part slowly shrinks. Normally not a big deal for most styrene modelling, but on something made of many layers of styrene, the effect can be very noticeable.
  8. From what I understand, they're still doing all the scifi stuff.
  9. I built the Packard in the early '80s. That one came with chrome parts. A surprisingly good kit
  10. No problem. If someone wants to prove me wrong, I will be okay with this.
  11. I believe it was on this very site?
  12. The Tempest is one I would like to see get the Moebius treatment. Too bad they've been told by their new owner to get out of the model car business.
  13. If we're talking photo-etch, how about some badges and scripts for doing a Canadian version of some of the old AMT Ford and Mercury kits?
  14. At the top of my list would probably these aftermarket hubcap by Lyons, They're useful for anyone doing period custioms, and as far as I know, nobody's offered them either in resin or styrene. Something that would be useful to me personally would be a set of 1967 Toronado hubcaps, as I have a '67 Toronado kit that's complete except for the wheels.
  15. I think it was one of these guys, a giant river prawn.
  16. Of course there are prawns, and then there are prawns. I was with some friends at a Vietnamese restaurant some years back, and one of them ordered this prawn dish. She got one whole, gigantic prawn that covered the entire plate.
  17. There's no such thing as a free lunch. If anything, I'm amused by the choices that are made by Google's adbot. For a while, it was sure I was in the market for a Rolls Phantom
  18. And unblocked. We'll see what happens.
  19. Fair enough. Otherwise, I don't care about ads, you have to pay the bills somehow.
  20. And you had those Suzukis and Toyotas sold as Chevrolets. BMW got its start in he car business by building Austin 7s, and calling them Dixis, and later they built Iso's Isetta.
  21. I have no problem with the concept of ads, but it got to the point where some sites were slowing down, and even crashing my computer, and this forum was one of the worst offenders, to the point where I finally broke down and got an ad blocker. I am okay with looking at ads, but I'm not going to break my computer to do it.
  22. Yeah, I found out the hard way about the alcohol. Also some chrome is more sensitive to alcohol than others. Heller does make some of the best. wire wheels.
  23. Very nice! Did you thin those wire wheels, or is that how they are out of the box?
