  1. thanks guys, that sleeper was a royal pain. Dennis, it's testors lacquer clear, at work now, i'll post the product number later on, it's ultra gloss or something to that effect. i really like it, you can load it on and it doesn't seem to run/sag or pool up, or maybe i am just getting really lucky
  2. i picked one of these up at HL myself last week, same $42 with that lovely coupon
  3. if it's low enough pressure it might work, but the media hitting the plastic creates heat, so it may deform/dis color it. but then again at too low a pressure, you won't get the paint to strip [possibly]. tires look great by the way
  4. looks great so far, keep at it. look forward to seeing updates on this one.
  5. nice job, that's pretty cool.
  6. well, we don't have to worry about that anymore on this one
  7. some progress [and yes, rivets 'died' in this episode ] will probably clear the sleeper again tomorrow night. frame is in color, just need to paint a few more add on bits, and then the wheels and tires can go on. might have a roller soon
  8. beautiful job! looks terrific Alan.
  9. pm me the pic's like you did last time and i'll post them up for ya.
  10. Old Buckaroo, thanks. we had a bit of a mishap with some Samsonite gorillas, but we got it sorted DodgeAddict, thanks as well. would trade with both of these fellas any time. edited for spelling...or lack there of....
  11. crazy I tell ya. new paint [but we didn't do the door jambs, or even the spare wheel, lol] we got her running, but spent no time detailing the engine compartment, or neatening up the wires/vac lines etc. we left the underside 'patina'd' so you can deal with the rust/BLAH_BLAH_BLAH_BLAH looking underside, oh and if that's the finished interior, the door panels look like the originals [note the wrinkles and bumps in spots]. oh well, it is what it is, a fool and his money.................
  12. Dennis, said it before, will say it again, that came out terrific, and is going to look great on that low boy.
  13. beautiful model, everything looks perfect, well done.
  14. ya, I hear ya. still manage 50-80hrs in 40, good weeks are when transmission jobs aren't on my lifts, the powertrain warranty is a flat rate killer I find it funny that by the time you know what you're doing and have bought all the tools to do it all, you're burnt out from it.....plus the constant training.......never ends.....and in the dealer environment it seems the more ya know the worse off ya are. and then throw in some high voltage cars.................[spent a ton of hours doing training for the Volt, and now we don't sell them or service them...go figure...]
  15. I plan on being there, not sure if the spring thaw is going to make it though
  16. Alan, have you tried using testors decal bonder on the decals before using them? seems I read on here somewhere that it may help to keep them from cracking/coming apart when putting them in water to apply them. haven't tried it myself, but thought I'd mention it.
  17. well, I ran out of rattle can clear, so off to HL tomorrow when I get home, will see if they carry the reducer for the wicked colors.
  18. my pool is still one big block of round ice ice skating anyone??
  19. this thing is superb! love the texture treatment on the bumper and fenders, and the grille just looks dynamite, love this whole project, great looking rig.
  20. looks great so far, color combo sounds fabulous.
  21. Charlie, that's all rattle can. I like it way better than the enamel clear, just seems to flow better and lay flatter [in my experience anyway]. I started with the 'normal' lacquer clear, then tried this. as I say, I like this much better so far. I'm still fairly 'new' to painting, but have had good results with the 'close and quick' technique, if that makes sense. hope this helps in some way, tom
  22. thanks, that is some serious eye candy right there!! great looking fleet you've built
  23. gotta love fixing prior 'hack jobs'. I work in a chevy dealership and in the 'good weather' I get the 'old cars' when they come in. it's amazing how messed up some things are after 30-50 years of improper repairs, lol. I'd love to get a job where I could adjust to not working flat-rate
