Alan, have you tried using testors decal bonder on the decals before using them? seems I read on here somewhere that it may help to keep them from cracking/coming apart when putting them in water to apply them. haven't tried it myself, but thought I'd mention it.
this thing is superb! love the texture treatment on the bumper and fenders, and the grille just looks dynamite, love this whole project, great looking rig.
Charlie, that's all rattle can. I like it way better than the enamel clear, just seems to flow better and lay flatter [in my experience anyway]. I started with the 'normal' lacquer clear, then tried this. as I say, I like this much better so far.
I'm still fairly 'new' to painting, but have had good results with the 'close and quick' technique, if that makes sense.
hope this helps in some way,
tom
gotta love fixing prior 'hack jobs'. I work in a chevy dealership and in the 'good weather' I get the 'old cars' when they come in. it's amazing how messed up some things are after 30-50 years of improper repairs, lol.
I'd love to get a job where I could adjust to not working flat-rate
Alan, superb looking pair! fantastic job, they just look so cool together
now, do us all a favor and take a few steps back and photograph the whole shelf, I spy a great looking fleet of stuff
I don't know why I do it, but I start at the bottom/rockers on one side, spin the stand, do the same on the other side, then trunk, roof, hood/fender tops, then header panel [if it has one].
never gave it a thought as to why, I just do it that way.
WOW, beautiful in every aspect. can't say enough about how great this looks.
I also wanted to comment on the 'clear' comment you made. I have been using Model Master ultra gloss lacquer [28139], I find it sprays/flows quite nice, here is an example [one coat and un sanded/polished]
while on this subject, I got a bunch of wicked colors on sale at HL, do I need to reduce it with 'wickeds stuff' or can I cut it with something else? also, air brush clean up, use their stuff, or????
thanks, and sorry to hi-jack the thread.
thank you, not too bad for a rattle can I am finding I really like the lacquer rattle cans, especially the metal flake colors. I hope it shines even more after some hand glaze.
was out of town for work last night, and just got home, so no work tonight on it, but I think tomorrow night will be another sanding session.......
