I like the color as well. I'm working on 4WD on the Lil Red Express, and I like what you've done in adding a modern mill and dash. -
Death of the Camaro? (Again?)
MeatMan replied to MrObsessive's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
I hate to see cars die, but I can't afford any of the new ones anyway. My wife has an SUV and I still have a 2011 sedan. I don't know what I'll do when it dies because like you said Bill, the market wants tall vehicles. Personally Guido, I love the latest gen Camaros. Other than the 69, my favs. -
Thanks for the post. I'll give it a go.

Thanks for the encouragement guys. Here's a quick update. I'm using the 2x4 manifold from the Thunderbolt kit (I bought several partial kits of different cars), and as you probably know the stock FE manifolds don't straight up fit the cammer engine. As you can see below, I modified it at bit, moving the distributor in a bit to line up with the cut-out in the front cover, and moving the water outlet to the top of the manifold. I also finished deepening the oil pan. I wound up cutting it a bit from my original mock-up. Additionally, because the battery in the kit was molded into the fenderwell I had to remove it surgically, which required me to rebuild the inner fender to something that resembled stock. I added a piece of styrene that allowed me to add an indentation where the stock battery would go. Thanks for looking.

If you want to mini-tub, you could start with a full kit and just add tubs from a scrap chassis. Spotlight has the complete stock kit for $20 plus shipping. Like Mike said, cheaper than a resin. https://www.spotlighthobbies.com/amt19chnossh.html They also have the Grumpy Jenkins version for a bit more. You might get some extra goodies with that version. Good luck whatever you decide.

Beautiful build!

For giggles I mocked the suspension up, then dropped the engine in to see how tight things would be and was surprised at the room. Both the kit and engine are 1/24 scale.

Sure did. I extended them though, and used the crossmember as well.

Very well done!!

Using embossing powder on exhaust pipes

Great tip! I've been trying to figure out how to do something like that. Thanks. -
Got some work done on the Mustang. I sorted out the rear wheel wells which I had to pull from the parts bin. Here I'm mocking up the front and rear suspension. You will note that the I added an axle mounting plate with the old shock locations but no shock installed. The actual shock location is on the traction bars per the 1:1. I used brackets from Dirt Modeler for to attach the front of the traction bars, and fabricated some shackles for the rear springs. The front suspension shows my take on the torsion spring setup. Its not exactly like the 1:1, but I feel its close enough. The brass pieces are ferrules, which I won't glue into place until the chassis is painted so they can keep their color. I'm also starting on the engine. Here I show the oil pan being deepened. I just used a piece of plastic I found that was about the right size and grafted it into place. Thanks for looking, and commenting. Btw Rex, I haven't found that color in Testors paint. Thanks.

That's a fine replica. Well done Geoff!

I have no doubt you can make that work! Good looking project.

Anyone else ever notice this?
MeatMan replied to Scott8950's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
I tried that but we have a number stamped in the bottom of the cans we have here. I tried rolling them out but it just left little dents. -
Yeah, I know Rob. That is the stock config and they were the last parts to go on the chassis. I would need to heat and then bend them up to clear, so I'll take the ding on those rather than do that.
