  1. Thanks Steve and Jeremy. Steve: It's gotten a little easier with the linkage after 3 times now. The first time was a real treat! lol. I've got the chassis as done as it's gonna get. I spent a lot of time removing seam lines and injector pin marks from the replacement rear leaf springs and axle. I tossed the original rear diff cover in some brake fluid and sanded it to a more realistic scale thickness and Alcladed it and also cleaned up the traction bars and chromed those. I cleaned the replacement front suspension up and outlined the front spring detail with a Molotow chrome pen. The base chassis assy is all original and has only been touched up with paint. I touched up the raised brake line and fuel line details with some Aluminum paint using a detail brush and applied a wash over the original silver painted fuel tank just to bring out some of the details. While I was on the subject of chassis , I thought I'd mock up the suspension one more time. I've changed the original tire layout up since the beginning and have decided to go with this stance with the rear tire juuuuust even with the upper part of the rear wheel opening. So far............I'm likin' this! Here we are mocked up with the spare body:( the more I look at this thing , the more I wanna put some skinnies on it......)
  2. A few days late to the game here folks. Finding time to be on the forums is proving difficult as of late as there's just been so much going on. I've been working steady on the engine for the last couple of weeks and have managed to get the carburetor on with the fuel lines and fuel filter as well as the ignition system all taken care of. Looking back I wish I would've included the barrel nut for the fuel line to fuel pump connection but it's installed now so there's no going back now. I'll be coming up with a throttle return spring and bracket soon.
  3. Thanks Jim and sorry for the delay. I'm still "at it" with this thing. I'll post some pics in the morning.
  4. I do see that in the background. I had my sights on building the 41 Willy's next as of last year in the ongoing stream of Street Demons builds that I've been doing and then I saw your 54 and it inspired me to build mine.................in Street Demons markings nonetheless. That sunroof really adds a lot to this build. Verrrrry nice work Greg.
  5. Will be watching this one Greg! I loved custom vans as a kid and had the Revell Chevrolet "Mean Mudder" van with the motorcycle. I re-acquired that kit last year (for a decent price at that) and am looking forward to building it in the future. You're doing an awesome job prepping this one so far. BTW..................what ever happened to that 54 Chevy Panel Wagon you were working on?
  6. Thanks Tim! I am going with a lacquer based clear. Just gotta smooth the paint out before I "go for it". Thanks for the vote of confidence brutha. Jim: Thanks a bunch Jim. Both of you guys builds inspire me. Hopefully I'll get some measureable progress on this one this week.
  7. Un............believable!! Good to see you back on this one again JC!
  8. Just visiting back to where the big dog eats. Any progress on this one as of late Randy?
  9. Man the attention to detail you put into your builds pays off in multitudes Jim! Your interior work is always a shining example of it!! BTW......I like the black washed grille as well as it really brings out the most in all the detail. Fine work there my friend.
  10. Looks good so far Mike. I had the emblem/ mold line issue when using automotive paint on my latest build. After smoothing all the affected areas out I sprayed several coats of primer on and allowed to cure/ dry out for 2-3 days and then shot my base coat on by dispensing it in a paint jar and airbrushing it on in thin coats and building up to avoid the seam/ badge ghosting.
  11. Imagination and fabrication at its best. Man this is some good stuff Andy! Wow!!!
  12. I hear you on not looking like that color much but this stuff really comes alive when the clear is applied to it. I shot some on a roof top about 2 months ago and thought the same thing until I shot the clear. I've always thought this was a cool looking color. 1999 would have been a prime time for that color. I believe that GM started using it in 95 or so and on into the early 90's. I could have swore I saw a later model CK that had that color on it though.
  13. Heya Rich! Thanks bud! I'm not going with any kind of original style paint for this one ( no #'s matching Camaro build) . lol . It's Mystic Teal Metallic from the late 90's/ early 2000's. I just remembered today about watching a video where a guy was using a Badger 350 so I figured, why not give it a try? I wasn't disappointed.
  14. Thanks Jim and Randy for both of you guys support. I've got COLOR!!! I ended up applying another coat of primer and smoothed all the imperfections out (a couple of freekin' dog hairs and some dust particles) and dispensed the paint into a paint jar and shot it through my airbrush. I had ALOT better results this time around fellas, however this paint does not play well with the air brush. Even after thinning the heck out of it I had difficulty in getting a uniform spray pattern to come out. I can't complaint too much as I'll be able to make this work out good in the end. These pics were taken after the results from my Badger 200. After these I decided to break out the much simpler Badger 350 and had a lot better luck with the pattern and a more consistent coat. I'm really going to be very happy with this color on this car is all I've gotta say: Engine is still coming along. Resin Holley test fitted onto the motor complete with throttle shaft and throttle lever.
  15. A bit late to the party but I'm definitely agreeing on that Sparkly Blue base. Man..............whadda show!
  16. Sorry about not being able to use the Coyote engine Tim. I will say that SB 302 looks great man! I really like what you're bringing to the table with both of these Mustangs.
  17. Freekin' Holeee Cow!! Great ideas at work here Rob! Love it man!
  18. I haven't built this one at all but it looks like you're pointed in the right direction with it Mike.
  19. Cool project Mike. Looking forward to more.
  20. Thanks for the vote of confidence Jim. Lord knows I need it . lol I finally got it back in primer this morning: So far so good there. I'll let it dry for a couple of days and try the base coat again with the airbrush. While all that's going on I ended up switching out the rocker covers with a set of Baldwin Motion ones. I shot a coat of Tamiya Smoke over 'em and brought out the "Motion" letters. I drilled the holes out for the rocker cover "wing bolts" that I'll be installing at a later point in the engine build. I also switched out the intake manifold and painted that this morning. Belt and alternator are now mounted and I'm fabricating an alternator mount for it so we don't have that mysterious floating alternator out there. I'll be breaking out that Molotow chrome pen to fill in the sprue attachment points on the alternator and clip that pin that's hanging out of the back of the alternator closer and install a terminal end with the ckt going to it and a retaining nut over the terminal end. In short..............there's some work to do. Still got some detailing to do the rocker covers but that's small stuff.
  21. Brilliant work John. Man...............look at you go.............Wow.
  22. Man, I'm gone a couple of days from this thread and just look at all the good progress!!!
  23. Good lookin build so far Martin!!!
  24. Still on this one guys. Been in the body shop all week having the emblem cavities filled & sanded and the ripples in the plastic body sanded smooth. Will be being more careful the second time around.
