Welp.....this all came in the mail today. There's a friend of mine that has been working away on his Kingfisher and I've always wanted to build a Kingfisher BUT....never liked the Monogram kit. When I went on a search for a possible newly released kit from a possibly different manufacturer, I turned up with nothing but all these newer released Monogram/ Revell kits. However, I did find an update set from Flightline Engineering that was worth its weight in gold. Pretty much every aspect of this kit has been upgraded/ revised by this guy. Beautiful update set for around $50 shipped. In any case, Tom, if you're in here....thanks for the inspiration. I hope to start this holy grail build very soon:

The paint finish on this one is "tops" Bob!! A real shame about the taillights and rear window. Looks like AMT pulled a vintage Revell move on the tail lights there but knowing your skill set, I'm sure you'll negotiate this obstacle very well. Looking forward to more.

AMT 2017 Camaro "Fiftieth" Anniversary Edition

Thanks Dan. It's going to take some real work to get this interior to look like the pictures. Door panels are done. One thing to note: The casual eye won't see it but .......the R/H door panel has the master switches for the windows and door locks. It would pass for a R/H drive car in part. lol Painting the inlay areas was a bit tricky but managed to get it done. Trim work and door handles were brought out using Vallejo Metal Colors Dark Aluminum for lack of anything better to paint them with. I also added the "Bose" logos on the speaker grilles. -
What a great job on the paint!!! Great job on this bud.

Thanks you guys!! Hopefully I'll be able to pull the seats off with at least some sort of finesse. -
Man....this car's really fighting you in regard to paint Pat. Looking forward to your recovery efforts. Stick with it pal.....this project will be a great lookin' car when it's all said and done. LOTS of good work going into this one.

AMT 2017 Camaro "Fiftieth" Anniversary Edition

After a while away, I did manage to get the dash most of the way completed. Still have the steering wheel and column to go and then we're off to the seats. I managed to pick up a spare interior so I could make the painting masks for the seats and door trim so that's next up. -

Thanks you guys. I'll be giving it my best shot. All new territory for me being a newer car. -
Oh HECK yeah!!! Great finish on this one Jeremy!! I haven't tackled one of these kits yet but every time one is built up, I get the itch to try one. Good turn out buddy.

WOW!!! This really turned out nicely Craig. Great color, superb details and the car sits great. The wheels you used give the car a good look. I wouldn't have expected Cragars to "go" with this car, but they worked out pretty dang well. -
Good lookin' engine James.

AMT 2017 Camaro "Fiftieth" Anniversary Edition
mustang1989 replied to mustang1989's topic in WIP: Model Cars
Thanks Carl!! Now to move on to the interior. After building the chassis up, I'm a little let down with the interior. I mean.....it's okay... The problem is going to be painting the contrasting panels on the seats, door panels and dash. LOTS of masking in store for me. Check it out: Here's the layout which has now been primed and had the semi gloss black lightly sprayed on for the right effects. -
Looking so forward to this one. Will be watching.

Really good work going on in here. Love all the detailing. I used to carpet all of my builds and while it does look good, I was always afraid to turn the model over after that for fear of any loose fibers winding up on the seats. lol

That engine does indeed look good. Nice!!!

That color is GORGEOUS!!! Very nicely done!! Interior is coming along well too.

Oh yeah.....I'll be watching this one. Can't wait to see what you're going to do with it. I've got this kit in line to be built soon as well. If you don't already know, make sure you do a LOT of test fitting ahead of time. This kit has known wheel/ tire location issues with the tires being too far outside of the fender line as well as stance issues. Will be watching your progress bud. -

Thanks Randy. Sorry for the late reply bud. Been out of pocket now for a few weeks....out of town...sick...other priorities....lol. Never ends. Well, I've finally got enough done on this bad boy to show some progress. To say that this is one of the better chassis builds I've built up would simply be an understatement. AMT did VERY well on this one. In looking at the reference photos that I had to work with, I knew I had my work cut out for me if was to replicate something with so many different shades of the same color as well as the aluminum & steel paneling that provided the base work for the chassis that included almost 50 parts by the time it was all said and done. Most of the parts were in the rear suspension. I'm in awe at the amount of detail that was provided. Getting everything to look non "Blase" was a trick in itself.
