I got a chance to see one of these cars at Dick's Classic Garage in San Marcos, Tx when it was still open. I developed an appreciation for these cars because they are nothing short of beautiful. You've done an excellent job of bringing that beauty to life with your model build. This turned out very well Andrew!!

A Pair of Camaros--Dual 1970 Camaro Build-Z-28 in "Under Glass"
mustang1989 replied to mustang1989's topic in WIP: Model Cars
Thank you, guys, as well as all who have encouraged me along the way with the Z-28 part of this build. You guys are awesome!! I forgot to mention it last week but the Z-28 part of this build has been in the Under Glass Section for a few days now: -
Man that color is electric!! Very well-built car with a great looking interior and chassis details Simon!!
-
That right there is some mighty fine and fancy footwork on that car!! Very nicely done!!!
-
I used Spaztix through an airbrush on my Molotow that I shot over some wheels over 4 years ago and they haven't lost their shine yet. Stuff works.
-
Not on this one Mike. I used Alclad Chrome on the front bumpers. I really should've done that on the rear bumper for uniformity but the front bumperettes are pretty close to the kit chrome of the rear one outside of the pictures.

I can't thank everyone enough for all of the comments. Thank you all very much.

Sharp lookin' car. Very cleanly built.

Your builds are one thing....your photography......WOW!! It just puts a very good-looking model build in a whoooole nuther category.
-
Sharp ride man. Love the color and the details.
-
Nifty looking Caddy Andrew. Love the mods to get it look like that.
-
This turned out really well. I hear you on the ride height issues. It seems to be an area of correction on a multitude of auto kits.
-
Beautiful color and very well built!!!
-
I just love these smaller scale builds. Lotsa detail for such a small scale. Well done.
-
Beautiful work!! Great job getting the yellow paint on and getting it to look that good. WOW!!
-
Very cool take on this car. Love what you did with it.

A very cleanly and well built Nova. Engine looks real as does the rest of the car.

Blown...................away................................ Need a guy say more? Sheesh!!!!

I've never seen one or heard of these cars which makes the build that much more unique and interesting. Great turn out.

I thought I'd seen everything with the small block Chevrolet engine as a barbeque pit from Summitt and then I see this. Great idea and very nicely built.

After 3 months I've finished this puppy up. I'm going to put together a small re-cap of the trouble points with this kit in my build thread for anyone that wants to build one of these. I will say that in the kit reviews that I watched along with what I read before starting on this build it says to build up the subframe up front separately and install it after the base chassis has been installed into the body (which was no small feat on this model-At several points I thought I was going to break something big trying to get the body and chassis together. I've had this model in the stash for around 8 years and have always wanted to build one because I like them so much. I was gonna have one of these for my first car to drive before dad saw the well-built 350 in it with a 4-speed and put a stop to that. He used to tell me, "If you're gonna kill yourself....you aint gonna do it under my roof."http://www.spamodeler.com/forum/images/smilies/icon_giggles.GIF The kit is one that's all too familiar to us and if you've ever been to Hobby Lobby you'll know the one that I'm talking about. It's the one on the left: Most of the cars that I saw were yellow, green, brown and black but I wanted something different. I wanted red .....but not just any red....something that is out of the ordinary and magnetic to the eyes. My choice ended up being Raspberry Red. I fell in love with this car the second I saw it................ Now for the look I was after. The stock wheels and tires look alright but I wanted something a bit more aggressive and with these wheels I wanted to drop the front stance in the front and raise the rear just enough to get the "meats" I had in mind to look how I wanted. I had the parts from three different kits to make the wheel & tire choices. In the following pic I would end up not using the front Cragars in sourcing a more traditional looking set for the front. Other parts used throughout the build were the PE fret from Model Car Garage for the engine, interior and exterior details. Magazine in the seat from a supplier on ebay years ago and decals from Speedway for the license plate. MCW supplied the Rasberry Red and Testors Wet Look was used for the clear coat. A light coat of Tamiya Smoke goes on the wheels to give them a more realistic look and bring out the details. The kit fought me some but wasn't too bad to build after reading reviews and looking over build threads from other folks who have built this same car. Thanks go out to all who looked in on and encouraged me along the way.

Now THIS....is what I'M talkin' about!! Your photography is every bit as good as the build I'm looking at. That's how it's done right there.
-
Brilliant finish on this car and a flashy looking color at that. Beautiful outcome on the whole build.

For starters, your neighbor's friend has a VERY nice-looking car. That's one thing that I've always liked about these older cars is the colors used throughout. Very eye catching and brilliant in nature. I do like what you're doing with this one Pat. Working your magic yet once again.
