Your paint finishes are to be envied and a wide range of automotive modeling subjects just puts the cherry on top. Well done.

Oh man!! I've been meaning to pick that 55 Chevy Bel Air kit up. Gonna have to go and get me one of those. I've gotta tell ya on that Mustang kit. Revells version is a pretty straight forward kit but if you REALLY want to build a Mustang and it practically put itself together then you might want to spring for this one from Tamiya: You WON'T be disappointed.

I hear what you're sayin' James. For the longest time, I built aircraft and after a while I wanted to get better at it and at the same time, I wanted to build a scale auto that had all the details AND the perfect shine. With all that in mind, I took a break from aircraft building and switched to autos. I've been back twice now to re-visit aircraft modeling since 2014 while learning new techniques while I was away. Aircraft building is something that I enjoy very much but like you, I'm a dang gear head so I've gotta have my auto fix. lol

You picked out the details and painted up that SBC very nicely. Interior looks convincing as well. Great stance and overall look too Bob! Can't wait to see all of this great building come together in the finished product.

Good start so far on the Spitfire James. I know a lot of folks who build in 1/72 scale and turn out some very solid and convincing builds, For me, it's too small a scale to work with. I'm 54 years old and my eyes aint what they used to be so I work in the middle with 1/48 scale. Large enough to work with and put some good detail into and small enough to still fit into my display case. That Cobra kit looks sharp!!

Thanks Carl ol buddy!

Love 'em all but that Corvair and Jag just stand out to me. I know all too well about the workplace drama and all. Hang in there bud.

That Bronco is indeed a modern art masterpiece!! Pretty spiffy stuff man. I've got a soft spot for the V-8 Impala SS as well. Beautiful build. Got any pictures of under the hood? -
I don’t know how you guys can crank all of these high quality builds out. I can barely manage 3 or 4. Maybe that’s a good thing because I’ve only got so much display space. Lol Great looking models buddy

Your photography AND your modeling skills rank up there with some of the best I've seen.

Good lookin' set of builds Joel. That F250 pretty much took up the entire display area. Looks great man.

AMT 2017 Camaro "Fiftieth" Anniversary Edition
mustang1989 replied to mustang1989's topic in WIP: Model Cars
Hey Daniel, I sprayed the bottle assy (which is a separate piece on this kit) with Tamiya Rattle Can White Primer. After that dried I masked off and painted the tanks with Model Master Acrylic International Orange. After the Orange had completely dried I sprayed Model Master Acrylic Flat Clear with a small drop of white mixed in and thinned with Model Master Acrylic paint thinner to make it look less like paint and more like the coolant was inside the reservoir. -
Thanks Alan! Well folks.....my Camaro project is getting closer and closer to the finish line. In the mean time I thought I'd post something in here to provide some sort of update that I actually WILL be starting this kit next. For starters, after opening the box from HELL (meaning the used kit) I found that this kit has already been started as well as violated in the process. I know......what did I expect from an already opened box that's 20+ years old already. We're gonna call this "Exhibit A" PE fret had parts cut from it .... and PE braces/ rigging was totally destroyed by the last "builder" during installation.... Interior had been "started". I'm really hoping that this was a 10-year-old that attempted to build this kit. and most of the parts were cut from the sprues and alot of parts were missing. Fortunately, the seller was honest and refunded the money that I spent on this kit. I've not always been so lucky. This......is "Exhibit B" . A newly sealed kit that I used the refund money from "Exhibit A" to purchase. I purchased a set of canopy masks from EZ Masks (Chris Loney in Canada) and will give these a try. To my knowledge....this is the only offering for canopy masks for this kit. and now for the BIG news. I found a P6 Catapult on Shapeways that I had printed up for me to display this completed build on. Now I just need to find reference pictures for this beast in order to paint and weather it up.

AMT 2017 Camaro "Fiftieth" Anniversary Edition
mustang1989 replied to mustang1989's topic in WIP: Model Cars
Thanks Carl! 'Preciate you tuning in Mike! Thanks Greg. It's definitely got its fair share of challenges but with a little elbow grease (and a whole lotta love)....they can all be overcome. I've been working on the engine bay for the last few days. When dealing with black in these areas, I tend to use a lot of different shades and add every detail I can to keep it from being boring. Bit by bit things are shaping up in here. -
