  1. Very interesting concept.Looking somewhat Dieselpunk.I like it!
  2. The single most important tool for weathering may just be your own powers of observation.Do research on your subject including on the internet. That extends to structures like garages and other photo op buildings.Note were the most heavily weathered parts are, most likely the upper surfaces where the sun, rain and dirt do the most damage. There's a saying BLAH_BLAH_BLAH_BLAH rolls down hill,so does rust and faded paint. The point here is to remember to copy the natural weathering process as closely as possible. Apply colors in light amounts and build it up slowly as you go,you can always add more but removing it is difficult at best.More is not always better!
  3. I have oficially given myself a headache from shaking my head in disbelief at all the amazingness happening here!
  4. I am convinced there is a styrene eating creature lurking somewhere under my work bench just daring me to drop something! The smaller or hard to replicate the part is the tastier it must be.
  5. Welcome to the forums now you've stepped out of the shadows and joined us.We all should always build what we enjoy at what ever level we are able.Let the jaw dropping details and super shiny paint be your inspiration and not be intimidated by it.Gather ideas from what you see here and use it as though it was your own.You find these forums a great place to invest your time.
  6. Google Chuck Doane and check out his work.He shares his techniques and lists step by step instructions on how he does his stunning diorama effects.
  7. It's very refreshing to have a model like this to follow for a change. These were the fun cars of their day. They were built mostly during the great depression years from whatever was available.A lot if people literally abandoned broken down cars along the road side because they were out of work and no money to repair them. Those"found"cars were towed in and stripped for their usable parts by enterprising local mechanics to build speedsters and gow jobs. If you're a builder that likes to attend the NNL there will be a cult theme parking area for these gow jobs and vehicles like those seen at the race if gentlemen events at the NNL Nationals # 37 in October in Ohio. Thanks for sharing.
  8. Thanks Mike.I had no idea what this type of tech costs.
  9. Great build!I might have been tempted equip Mr.Claus with a Red fire suit and mask plus swap out his lantern for a can of nitro, but yous still "sleighs"me!
  10. Great project.I built one of these back in the old MPC contest series days in the 1960's in 1/25th scale.I based mine on an Dodge Challanger body with engines pirated from MPC mailbox chopper kits.Yours is WAY nicer than mine with tons of details I never even considered in those days. Thanks for sharing!

  16. I was pleased to have a friend visit our home receintly and install a file on our computer that allows me an opportunity to listen to a two hour recording made in the mid 1980's by Mr Andy Charles who along with the famous Mr.Wally Byam founded the Airstream Travel trailer co.factory here in Jackson Center,Ohio. In this recording Mr Charles recounts their experiences in 1952 of the drive from Los Angeles,Ca to Ohio in search of a suitable location for an eastern factory for the company. The whole story has proved very interesting and informative and a great pleasure to hear.
  17. Loving your Watsonesque Paint theme. It really make the styling lines pop!
  18. In answer to the question about this being a "zipper"car, you are correct in as much as Zipper Motor Co.does offer turn key car in this same style but the "Zipper" is a trade name. They have some neat stuff if you Google them and look at the finished cars on line.
  19. Your plug wire and ends look very realistic.I'm looking forward to watching this one develop.
  20. Nothing special but I did buy a new version of the Exacto knife at Hobby Lobby that actually has a light built into the business end around the blade that shines onto your work surface.Really a handy thing to have when not working in optimal light conditions.Check it out for yourself and be sure to take your 40 percent off coupon with you!!
