Great that you have the talent and ability to superimpose your drawing over you photo to share the ultimate vision you have!I really like the peaked hood extension you added. That really compensates for the bluntness of the grille design drawing the eye up to the peak.Over all a very inspiring project and a lot of fun to follow.

Brad,The progress you are making is outstanding.I had a very interesting conversation today that I thought you might find somewhat interesting.A fellow I worked with at Airstream for several year had heard about you project and that I was looking for any information available about that project. In 1959 my friend Bob was actually in charge of the crew that built the shell of the vehicle you are replicating. What are the chances?I don't want to publish his name and address here and he is not on line.If you would like to get in touch with him send me a PM and I'll send you his information. He lives here in Jackson Center and is in his mid 80's.

A great tutorial for those so inclined but way outside my "wheelhouse". -
Looking really stellar! The exhaust has a really smooth path.Takimg it through the frame cross member was absolutely the right thing to do.

Just proves again that old gnarly trucks can make great model projects. Thanks for sharing this one with us. -
Nice job of photography as well.It shows the reflectivity of the maroon paint to it's best advantage. Thanks for sharing.

Welcome back to the hobby. It feels good to find out that you still have the eye-hand co-ordination and steadness of hand to still do it doesn't it ?

This is absolutely stunning!I really like seeing your design sketches on display as well. It's obvious that you are a gluton for punishment by subjecting yourself to all that sanding. So refreshing to see a builder scratch building almost everything needed to create a great model.Hand this man an Exacto knife and a pile of styrene and get out of his way!

1951 Chevy Wanderer - Minor Progress - 8/3/2013
misterNNL replied to Tom Geiger's topic in WIP: Model Cars
Are you planning to adapt the Chevy's rear quarter panel to the camper shape?IMHO that would greatly improve the side view. -
Bob,This particular truck won it's share of"best truck" awards in it's day but never advanced into any national level prominence. There was nothing anything like it at the time.I was originally going to build it as a lumber truck but then the revell parts packs were readily available and I thought a load of hot rod parts would be more interesting. Thanks for asking.

Thanks for sharing this build with us.Nice to see one of these built to today's standards.Looking good.

I was a junior in high school in 1959 and wish I had known all of that was happening at the time. What an incredible adventure that must have been. You are right about nearly everyone in town being involved in some way.I worked there for several years.Airstream is adding a huge addition onto their factory right now. That will certainly have a positive effect on the local economy.
