  1. This is a really well done body with a very stylish wedge shape and has great proportions. All this is combining to produce a killer drag model. I am enjoying following this thread.
  2. Very impressive collection of custom builds. These show your obvious knowledge of the subject matter and finite attention to details. Thanks for sharing your talent with us.
  3. This progressing very nicely. Your new body proportions are excellent and well planned. I will be watching closely as it continues to develop .Thanks for continuing to post your progress.
  4. I added a foundation of field stone to a doll house built for my wife. I visited the stone and gravel storage area of our village and borrowed about a cup of appropriately sized crushed stone. The structure is made of plywood so I applied a thin covering of grey caulking then fit the stones individually using Paul's pattern suggestion. The stone has slight color variations and rounded edges so it looks pretty good. It was a quick and simple solution.
  5. Maybe I'm missing something here, but with all the modern computers and 3D printing available now why doesn't someone release this body ?
  6. You might looking at lace ribbon at Hobby Lobby.
  7. Quit lurkin and start buildin! What do you like to build?
  8. This post is an outstanding example of exactly what these forums do best, share knowledge and inspire us to kick it up a notch or three.
  9. If you do indeed empty it outdoors please, please do not just dump it on the ground.
  10. Great thread. Our work benches are our come zones where everything is basically at arms length and the music is just loud enough to drown out the constant negative news coming over the TV. One year we actually had a full size modeling work bench loaded like those shown here as the object of a contest at one of our Toledo NNL shows. The bench was very carefully curated to be circa 1962. There was one item on that bench that was not correct for that era and the object of this was to correctly identify that item to win a prize. There were hundreds of parts to look through including kit parts, tools, etc. It was a lot of fun and got a lot of attention.
  11. I have also used that type for some steam punk themed things I have built. These are always made of very thin metal and not the best suited for building wrecker truck booms. Do you have any Fusee chain available ? would like to get a few more pieces.
  12. Yes that is a full dispenser as the number 30 visible on the daily dosage counter. The largest gears is actually just behind that counter. On you get inside the thing and open it up there is one spot where 8 of the gears are visible. I recommend start your disassembly by pulling that red top piece down to the right and cutting off the tab that holds it in place .The rest of the de-construction can be done with a normal sized flat blade screw driver by inserting it into the sides and bottom and twisting it apart. There is also another medication also used for COPD that uses this same style dispenser.
  13. Outstanding ability to commit what you see in the real world to scale model form. The closer we look the more we see. This will make a great photo op for your models. Thanks for sharing your skills with us.
  14. Like little white plastic gears that are about 1/8" thick. Some have a small stem on the back that can easily be trimmed off with an Exacto or a sprue cutter. I don't have the skills to post photos to the forums or I would.
  15. I only mentioned the price and the fact that it is a prescription medication to emphasize the fact that this is not something available over the counter for a couple dollars and cut it up for the parts.
  16. I just posted that info on the "Tips and Tricks" section.
  17. I have found a source for gears that just may be useful for those builders requiring them constructing wreckers ,etc. My lovely and very understanding wife has COPD and one of her medications is an Anoro Elipta inhaler. As any scratch builder would I took one look at the delivery device for this daily dose and found some very interesting uses for it. After de-constructing one of these for using the shape of the outer pieces for body profile sections for the antique travel trailers I like to build ,I found the gears inside. Some require trimming before use but that is no problem. Here's what you'll find inside....11 total gears as follows. 2 that are.07" thick, x .70" wide with 21 teeth 2 that are .07" thick x .48"wide with 16 teeth 3 that are .07" thick x ..60" wide with 19 teeth 1 that is .062" thick x .58 wide with 21 teeth 1 that is.062" thick x .60" wide with 20 teeth 1 that is .70" thick x .58" wide with 20 teeth and one that is 1.15: wide x .060" thick with 39 teeth ,This one has a .84" opening center opening and is on the back side of the daily dose number counter dial. If you know someone that uses this medication you might ask them to save the empty dispensers for you. This is a prescription only medication and very expensive @! about $ 400.00 for one month's doses' hope this helps you "gear heads" out a little.
  18. For those attempting this or any other build requiring gears, I have an unusual source for finding nearly a dozen gears in one place. I will list the sizes in the "tips and tricks" section in a few minutes for those interested.
  19. Thanks for inspiring me to add yet another un-necessary project to already too long list of things that I would like to build. Noe I think that id I were able to find one of these at the right price (insert the word Cheap here) I would latch onto it a make into a ground scraping low rider with fender skirts and a sun visor. Here we go again.
  20. FWIW I suggest painting the shop box part of the truck the same color as the cab for a unified look.
  21. Outstanding scratch building along with a real hands-on knowledge of the subject are obvious. This is going to require a custom built box to haul the finished model to shows! Have you figured out how long the finished model will be in 1/25th scale?
