  1. Outstanding design concept. Everything seems to flow seamlessly by combining those two kits at the waist line. I'll be watching as this develops. Thanks for sharing your talent with us.
  2. I am never able to open any of these IMG files.
  3. My wife and I are amazed how many of the robo callers lately have the same first name no matter where they are from or what accent they have. Simply amazing!
  4. I am really irked by something I just found out about this week. Nothing to do with model building at all fellow readers of this column. My wife and I had two doctors appointments this past week at a local hospital. While checking out at my wife's doctor we saw a sign posted asking people to please be courteous enough to call them ahead of time if they were not going to be able to keep their appointments. The reason????? That office had experienced nearly 200(!!) occasions in just December of 2010 for people simply not keeping their appointments and not calling their office to let them know in advance. Reallly...I mean that is simply rude. AT my appointment the following day I asked them about their experience with that same thing and they told me theirs was the same way...right about 200 every month! Simply unbelievableto me that people are that inconsiderate.
  5. As always this is enviable work on an interesting project. I'll be following along of course.
  6. Here's your official "atta Boy" Rick, from NNL HQ.!! ?
  7. At first I thought this was going to be cars from the Dept.Of Transportation:)
  8. Josh ,thanks for posting the images of the Pierce Arrow Travel Lodges for everyone to see. These were only produced for a short time in 1937 as an attempt to keep cash flow going for their automotive div. Approx. 400 total were made. Incidentally that did not work .The rivets I am thinking of using are in fact made by Micro-Mark Co. and are resin rivets raised up off the surface off of the sheet. They are a product made for model railroaders. The set I have is marked "O" scale which is the closest to 1/25th. There are lots of different patterns including single and double rows, and even some louvers. They recommend applying them then spraying a coat of paint over the top .FYI Archer Co. also sells some louver decals that are raised on the surface with resin.
  9. I have a life long friend who is native Italian and will tell that even though all native Italians speak the same basic language, he has friends that live within 75 miles of him in central Italy that he can barely understand due to regional accent variations. American accents also vary greatly by geographical area. It is a fact that the central Ohio region around Columbus is considered to be the most accent neutral part of the country. Many national TV news anchor people are sent there for voice training to eliminate regional hints to their location.
  10. I have a quick tip that might help those trying to pick up those small hex parts and apply them to your model. I use a lot of tooth picks for not only applying adhesive but for picking up tiny parts. I simply moisten one end of the pick then touch that end to the part you intend to install. The moisture will allow you to pick up the part and transfer it to the small(!) amount of adhesive you have pre-applied to the spot needed. Incidentally I use the pointy end of the tooth pick to apply my CA glue. I have literally done this thousands of times and it works great. I have one gas station that I applied 1100 rivet heads to this way. If you try this and have trouble getting the tooth pick to pick up the part cut off a little part of it to create a larger flat space and that should work.
  11. Looks like a "wash" to me
  12. Is this project still viable? I am interested in pledging if it still is. Feel free to PM me the necessary information. Thanks.

  13. This is Way outside my wheel house but the drawings are stunning showing a real knowledge of the subject. The finished model with that trailer will be a real attention grabber. You had better be ready to answer a million questions when you display it so start building a work-in-progess scrap book right now.
  14. So if my model is going to be navy blue, I should paint it first, then apply the rivet decals, then another coat of blue on top to seal everything?
  15. I have the same problem Josh. I do a lot of scratch building of antique travel trailers a lot of which have riveted metal outer shells. I really should add some decal rivets to them but am terrified about the outcome. I have a '37 Pierce Arrow 19' trailer at the point of paint and the rivet thing is rattling around in what's left of my paint fume tainted mind. If I copy what the original trailers had I would need to apply an actual 8' of rivets to this thing. My brain tells my that surely I would screw that up big time so it probably is not gonna happen.
  16. Their ad is no help to someone like with no knowledge of the terms listed. What hardness is the material You use?
  17. I started to Google Ren Shape just now and there seems to be several types with different numbers. Which type do you recommend?
  18. Very cool LSR vehicle and projections to work from. Be sure to post more photos as it progresses.
  19. That cab design opens the design options door wide open. I would personally consider adding some steps into the back side of those huge fenders leading up to the existing door rear edge. Or...you could fabricate the appearance of a forward tilting cab section. The ideas are almost endless here. I might even consider closing those wheel openings are .making this a anti gravity hover vehicle. I already have the engine built for that version.
  20. Unique and well planned subject. I remember seeing these light rigs at an area theatre in the 1940's when a major film was being shown for the first time. Those spot lights were a real crowd attraction in those pre-TV and internet days when the only way to advertise was in newspapers. The lights made a really loud humming sound when they were on at night. I'll be watching this build to see it completed.
  21. top shelf model building for sure. This is sure to inspire other builders to want to build something similar. Thanks for sharing your considerable talent with us.
  22. Plastistruct does have a set of 1/16" tall letters available if you look at their list online. I used them to put the METRO on the front of my recently finished Metro step van.
  23. Great overall theme+ top shelf workmanship+slick and high res photos= extreme coolness.
  24. Still starving for updates out here! Any progress at all?
