  1. Looks very good. Maybe there is hope for those Motormax Mustangs too. I wish the tires were better - the tread on the sides reminds me of snow tires.
  2. I have a few more unpainted so I can cover the most of the color spectrum.
  3. Decided on doing a competition orange Boss 351 (special order colors) instead of the metallic blue. Just for a change I primed a 96 Cobra convertible with black metallic to be covered with Testors color shift and Tamiya clear to replicate the mystic chrome paint.
  4. It's sort of a cross between a GT40 (rear engine) and a Cobra (open car) but since they did not do a street version it falls into the same category as an Allard or Chapparel one of the many limited hand made race cars of the late 50's and early 60's
  5. My son has a 2001 trublue GT. My Mach1 on the left and a Cobra with a 5.0 Coyote transplant on the right.
  6. Doing a coupe, convertible, sprint, Boss 351, 72 & 73 Mach 1's, 007 Mach1, some fastbacks, a Shelby Europa, 429 CJ, 351HO, Eleanor, and some racing versions in various colors.
  7. Even with this many bodies I still have some ideas for a few more colors. Only one mishap - a run on the blue fastback which I will correct when it dries. Getting the brownish color for the Eleanor was an expirement.
  8. Thanks. Anytime br67.
  9. Very well done sir. I read it as soon as it arrived and it is worth every penny. This book should be in every hobby store (the ones that are left). The only problem is it makes me sad that some kits will never return but it does not stop me from looking for them.
  10. If they stay under the radar (no website or Facebook) they should have no problem.
  11. This color would be very cool.
  12. Do you mean the 68 GT500? Not that I recall. I think I used the 69 kit for the 68 GT500KR I made.

    LaFerrari

No posts yet because everyone is speechless. Dang that is super nice.
  14. The light tan really helps bring out the details much better than a black interior.
  15. I was not happy with the white paint so I repainted the body green They should reissue those kits for people that are afraid to paint their own models. I did cheat some and use R&M of Maryland parts though on the blue one (not from the Walmart one).
  16. Sorry but I get defensive about my favorite Mustang years. Back on point - there are some alternatives out there that people may overlook in the toy section since most stores do not sell kits anymore. Perhaps these cheap cars can drum up interest in a younger generation. Another thread showed all the prepainted AMT kits Walmart sold for a short while. It would be great to see more of that again to cut down the amount of build time for people with little time or short attention spans. Un oh - did I hijack two threads in one post?
  17. No Welly ones in these pictures but here are AMT, MPC, Motor Maxi, Testors and the Danbury Boss and Mach1 along with Missing Link parts.
  18. Yes - those Testors ones were just a cheap diecast version of the 73 fastback with a 72 grille. The Mach1 had a mix of 72 and 73 decals and the Boss did not have the correct chrome bumper and of course the wrong engine. Sadly the could have done a stock 73 Mach1 with the right grille and decals but they missed that opportunity. The vents in the hood are wrong, the rear spoiler is too high and I have never seen those hubcaps on a Mach1 or Boss. That did not stop them from selling a bunch though.
  19. Agree the AMT an MPS kits were lame due to the wrong engines, exhaust, chassis to name a few things. The DM diecasts are superb and showed the great potential of what could be done with the proper plans. I've tried to combine the plastic kits with parts copied from the DM Boss but progress has been slow on completing one.
  20. It's a standard 1972 fastback with regular grille and chrome bumper that was not available in any kit. Swap the wheels and grille, redo the interior and paint and Grabber blue and white and you can make a 72 Sprint with the Keith Marks decals.
  21. Lame 73 Mustangs???
  22. The MPC 69 Mustang kit includes a 428 with those breather tubes and caps. A coil can be found in many kits including the AMT 67 Mustang or GT350.
  23. Or maybe the back of an early Charger.
  24. There was a 67 Mustang in white also. I built the model (after repainting it) but tossed the box out.
  25. Note sure about the built to last comment. Most cars from the 60's thru 80's are not around because they were disposable or rusted out or got horrible gas mileage. Todays cars are boring but will last decades but I still do not see many cars older that's 15 years around here - people get tired of them or pass them on to their kids to be abused. One neighbor still drives his 83 VW GTI everyday but it's garaged and it still looks pretty good. As far as styling - almost everything on the road looks the same. I was coming home yesterday and a kid about 12 was on his bike yelling to his friends to look at that cool car. I was driving my 72 Mach1. Now that kid has good taste.
