Interesting, the few Cobra kits from US manufactures
vamach1 replied to Greg Myers's topic in Car Kit News & Reviews
Hence why they are still in the packaging. -
I wish I could even say the Warren Tope has a 351C but as SAE covered in the Ford engine issues, there isn't a true 351C in 1/25 scale in any 65-73 Mustang kit. Of course the Revell Mach1 has a 1/24 351C and the Torino the correc for 71 429CJ. The MPC engine are 302s (ok for a coupe or convertible or base Mach1) with single exhaust or the 428 which of course last saw a Mustang engine bay in 1970. So are there any alternatives? I have considering having my one and only Scale Modeling by Chris 351C cloned. I have however come across later year Mustang kits (74 to early 80's) that have a 351C that were either a drag engine or could be made to look like a street 351C. I alos have some Nascar kit 351Cs as raced by Roush which I can probably use with some mods and took a diecast apart that had a 429 CJ . Some of these 71-73s may end up curbside but I hope to at least have most of them have a decent looking engine. As a test I grafted a 69/70 Revell engine bay into the MPC which of course meant chopping up some of the stock chassis. I have not experimented with other kits to see if the engine chassis would kit (69 Shelby e.g.). Kevin from Missing Link and Brad from HRM cast up some very nice parts from my master pieces of seats, dashes, door panels, center consoles, space save spare, etc.. So with some old Fred Cady decals and Keith Marks I can make a decent 72 or 73 Mach1 or 71 Boss 351 (with Kevin's chrome bumper and grill), a 72 Sprint, an Europa, a coupe and convertible (my conversion) and some plain Fastbacks. I think most of my other projects are on hold while I concentrate on build these 13 models. I'll post updates as I make more progress.

The Lindbergh kit is a snap kit toy that could be useable with perhaps a 1/24 289 chassis. Of course you can drop a few bills on the HRM kit (worth the money) or the other resin kits. Give that only six were made is probably what keeps the model companines from spending on tooling. The Gunze kit would be a start but it has issues and was not a cheap kit even in its day. The legacy of the real cars does make them one of the most dreamed about cars of all time and has been copied (Superformance, Factory Five) as well as McClusky and Shelby making continuation cars because they are still cool looking over 50 years later. -
Best 60s Ford Mustang Kit?

I bought it as is on Saturday so you are probably right- added on scoops ut how dare they use Chevy decals? It came with the box and instructions and still had some of the unique custom parts on the trees so I figured it was worth the $30 investment. I plan to make a stock 65 fastback using a few parts from the 66 coupe. -

Good use of the Molotow pen. You were lucky to find a complete kit. -
Slowly making progress on getting most of these bodies ready for paint. I thought this was a cool way to show them as one group.

Donna went to high school about 10 miles from where I did. She is about a year older than me and graduated HS in 1975. Somehow she went from beauty queen to Bosom Buddies but I wouldn't say she had any great roles that I can remember. I guess being married to Dan was her ticket to the good life. My how time flies by though. Linda Carter lives about 20 miles away in Potomac MD and is still quite a lovely woman. My only brush with a celebrity was being in a elevator with Elizabeth Taylor and John Warner in the 1970s. They were all dressed up for a show at the Kennedy Center and I looked like the typical teenager of that era - I was there to pick up my brother that was working there. If we only had cell phone cameras back then.

To quote Wayne's world - we are not worthy. Love to see some more close up pictures of the engine and interior.

Strange that you would not be sent the last issue. If they are already printed the only cost would be the mailing. At this point a subscription is for a given number of issues versus a time period based upon reading other posts about the frequency of issues.

Colors - for Ford GTP J-car
vamach1 replied to 89AKurt's topic in Model Building Questions and Answers
The glue bomb I bought on the cheap was missing about ten pieces so I had to have cast a few that were unique to this kit. Some other parts came from a Mark IV. You are lucky if your kit was complete. I'm not sure if I would pay more than $50 for an unbuilt one but I rarely see them for sale. The clear MPC version (which of course I painted) usually goes for $75 and up and is very different from the IMC. It of course shares a look parts in common with the MPC Mark IV which are easier to find. -
Colors - for Ford GTP J-car
vamach1 replied to 89AKurt's topic in Model Building Questions and Answers
The kit is like the Mark II's and IV's which we pretty advanced for that time but the bodies were less than accurate. Here's one I finished a few years ago from a partial kit and various parts from other kits. It is box stock and I think the decals were Freddy Cady. I have seen pictures of dark blue, blue and black for the hood depending on which version of the J car is depicted. I think this was the earlier version which color picture seem to be non-existent. The box art of course show Ford blue like most of the latter Jcar color pictures. LIke JC said I would use any J car pictures in color (or later Mark IV's) for deciding what colors to use. I did not stress out about 100% accuracy and just finishing the build was a relief. -
Must be a story there. Care to share?

Looking good and its not evan a Cobra.

Hands down most detailed and very reasonably priced 1/43 two kits ever made. Too bad people thought they were too small.
