Yes that does look a foot or so too long. ?

Not sure where I want to go with this one. Maybe a weekend drag racer. I have the parts to make a Shelby version and so far I’ve only found one picture of a real car of what I’ve envisioned. The wheelbase will be stock but perhaps I will put in a roll cage and perhaps a 427 engine and see what decals I can come up with from the parts box. Any thoughts or suggestions are welcome.

This still needs a few finishing touches (HiPo air cleaner and rocker stripe decals) and maybe some photoetch F O R D letters on the hood. Compared to the AMT kit I like the separate chrome door handles, gas cap and instrument cluster.. All the custom parts are neat but I built this “box stock” and the color is Ford Emberglo. The Keith Marks wheel center decals add a nice touch. I did end up using vacuum form “glass” as the original ones were pretty scratched up. I’m looking forward to the Round2 version as I’m sure it will be popular since neither the AMT or MPC fastback kit has been available in stock form for 55 years. I just ordered a set of the Keith Marks decals.

Thanks everyone. I decided to use those Keith Marks decals for the Mustang 2+2. I must say they look nice. I also took a stab at painting the Mustang Tri-bar. That was fun. Here’s a preview of a wheel of the next project. I’m using Keith Marks center cap decal for the styled steel wheel. Even I cannot paint that small.

I did not try the chassis swap so it was a pretty easy “build.” When the Round2 AMT fastback comes out I hope the chassis will be better than the coupe kit. If I ever find an inexpensive 71 Mach1 I promo I would ditch the chassis. The exhaust system has the transverse muffler which was last used on the 1970 Mustangs. At least they did not carry over that mistake to the kits.

I bought this built promo about three years ago. I forgot to take “before” pictures so I pulled two off Ebay of what a promotional model looked like that AMT made for Ford as giveaways. The prices of a nice original are up there but the one I bought someone had painted it a metallic red but that’s about it. Well that gave me the green light to see what I could do with one since the promo was basically all one color except for chrome bumpers, hubcaps, headlights and taillights. I spray painted it Testors red and decided to detail it just like I would any other regular kit. I did use fresh chrome from a 66 coupe kit but did not add any extra parts. I was really tempted to add a three speed shifter as there is a clutch pedal and the car has single exhaust although you can make out the PRD12 on the center console. I have a set of Mustang 2+2 decals which I might add as those. were the only emblems that were too small to hand paint. As always any comments are welcome.

Here’s four kits plus a 1/144 red GT500 “diecast”. The Gulf GT40 looks a tad bigger than 1/87 but the rest are HO scale.

I bought a Street Freak Mustang kit at a swap meet yesterday but did not notice the glass was not in the box. ? So before I freaked out I looked through some other kits I have and I found a windshield and rear window piece that are tinted blue and seem to fit perfectly. I have no clue where I got those parts. Does anyone know the origin of them, i.e. what kit did they come in? I wrote the comment “no glass” on the box. ?

Looking good Ray. I remember the fitting of the rear window and windshield were tricky because the fit into the openings and not from underneath like the typical 1/25 kit. -
Yes the body looks right but I’m pretending the front end had several mishaps and poor repairs over the years. ?

You wish has come true. I paid Polecat to make two sets of Sam Auxier decals. Now that he has the artwork I guess you can buy some for less than I paid but someone had to be the first. At least I am just about done with painting the body - no fun.
