  1. Great job on the vehicle, If I was building the boom and extensions I would use .010 shims pieces inside the boom and the extensions to prevent the extension from coming apart and giving a guide when being extended. I did this when I did an Mack Arialscope boom years ago. greg
  2. I only saw the 1/18th scale on their web page, no 1/24th greg
  3. Here you go: de Havilland DH.88 Comet greg
  4. Weren't there wide floatation tires in the original kit? greg
  5. Well might as well give my opinion on planes: I agree with the XB 70, the B 58 Hustler, The P 51 Some what amused at the C 130 because I remember the original nose on the plane My two together planes are the B52 mother plane and the X 15 to go along with the P51 the Vought F4U Corsair for prop plane and last but not least is the Candair CL 415 greg
  6. My oldest is AMT Craftsman series 1964 Chevelle snap together. to get the stance was to make lower holes for the axle which was close to the standard hole so heated up sprue was jammed into axle relief in the chassis Have no idea where I got the deep dish rims from, greg
  7. The finale: Presenting Ron with a replica of his truck, Good thing I didn't go for detail, found out he has friction shocks, a Camaro rear end, dual exhaust, a/c, and a bigger 6 banger than the kit, He spotted the difference and thought it was a 1951, He was very appreciative to get a surprise gift on the Fourth
  8. Finished the 4th of July gift thanks for looking, Have a safe and happy 4th, No 5ths on the 4th greg
  9. Hope you got the extended warranty on the heat gun, maybe turned mine on about five times and the elements fused together and bam no gun. The whole circuit runs through the elements so when they go the fan motor stops greg
  10. I first saw this truck last 4th of July, was able to get some quick pics the next day. It's '48 but I'm using the '50 Kept the build a secret and had difficulty with the painting so it went on the back burner, I matched the paint using Humbrol #20 crimson. This what the interior looks like. going to fix the turn signal a little oversize, Got the bed done Hopefully have it done in two days, repainted the body as I first had fish eyes in the paint, the color is off due to bulb cover in spray booth Got the hubcaps awhile ago, had to notch them for the vale stem in the rims to get them centered, This kit is the original kit and I had other plans for it close enough to a 48 Chevy in 1/25th scale, Had problem with the engine and drive shaft, had to take cut it down to get the engine to seat in the right place, then the oil filter on the intake manifold makes it hard to get the body on the chassis. interesting build, hopefully a nice gift greg
  11. Thanks for the connection to Detail Masters shifters, The project has to be done by the fourth, I have a JoHan Maverick so I'll check it, but back then when I built is (an free Auto World grab bag kit) I might have replaced it with a dress pin. I found a shifter and added a boot from another to get the height. greg
  12. What available kit has a Hurst shifter that would be a little bit longer as I would like to put in the AMT 50 Chevy pick up kit so that the knob height would be at the seat edge ? https://media.fotki.com/2v2EVmsBhxwhifW.jpg To make turn signal unit I used two number tags off of plastic tree glue together and numbers sanded off greg
  13. I have copies of pages from the body book for that series of econolines, if you want dimensions or copies let me know, the super van extension is wider then the body in the back of the van. greg
  14. John, no need to go any further, remember I'm dealing with Girard Ohio, (Nick) and add the cop type A personality it awash. greg
  15. Thanks for all the nice comments, Interesting was that I wanted to hand deliver to the police chief but he wasn't in so I left it with the watch officer and was told I would get a call from the chief the next day...................still waiting greg
  16. I have no connection to this sale: found on ebay: https://www.ebay.com/itm/Marx-Playset-Gas-Station-Accessories-3-Pumps-Sign-Oil-Rack-Air-Pump/133068237098?hash=item1efb7c292a:g:5lcAAOSwnktc11Jd Texaco play station parts greg
  17. I usually do it by 'feel' mix thinner until paint drips two drops off of the stirring stick. greg
  18. This is a memorial build for the Girard Ohio police department. Officer Justin Leo was a line of duty death on October 21 2017. This is a replica of a Girard police unit with his badge number on the unit. Tamiya blue, white tape, light bar from Lindberg accessory pack, decals from Charlie Rowley. modified rear taillights with center part painted body color greg
  19. Interesting project, neat work on the bullet hole in the interior, One suspicion is that the reference pictures are from a movie car rental pen and not the real LAPD car as john noted the real car went back in service. Don't stop I want to see it done greg
  20. Easy fix, use packing peanuts inside the tire, greg
  21. Just wondering how this tariff rift will effect our hobby, Probably increase prices, Wonder if model companies could state that the model kits are just parts that are assembled in the United States and not just a single product. If anyone can put some insight into the import/export portion of our hobby it would be appreciated. greg
  22. Then this happened in Pennsylvania: https://www.post-gazette.com/local/north/2019/05/09/Warehouse-fire-Etna-destroyed-hundreds-antique-cars-and-motorcycles/stories/201905090095 greg
  23. Used the Revell 66 Suburban into Police unit, Don't know if LAPD ever used Suburbans but used Johan police parts and used Rustoleum paint for plastic white and Tamiya gloss black. Kit is fragile at front fenders above wheel well, right side cracked on me. Antenna base load is cut from Dental micro adhesive applicator. Greg
  24. Added some more OSP cars to the collection: Die cast Welly Dodge charger and Chevy Tahoe Greg
