  1. Could someone direct me to where I could find the winners of the categories and show favorite, I had to leave before presentations were given. greg
  2. First off: Thanks to Greg Peters for the hubcaps, Now for the side story, The owner of the real truck lost one of his hubcaps and when he got it back it had been run over and destroyed. My brother told him about 'hubcap mike' and he got a replacement for his truck. Thanks to all the great contributors on this site greg
  3. My stash from Ollie's yesterday greg
  4. Even at that stance the old kit is shorter than the illustration, My money is on a re release greg
  5. The Renwal was the Jefferson, Ethan Allen, and Washington. Revell made the Washington, Jackson, Lincoln which also had a firing Polaris missile, I believe they were both classed as Polaris subs before they had the Trident class. Smaller scale than Renwal and no clear side greg
  6. I used and reworked the Blazer/Jimmy roof to fit the MPC Dodge pick up way back in 76 when I owned a 'Rustcharger' It had a 78 grille placed due to an accident I liked the look of that grille
  7. Nice collection, fan of fast planes, Museum is fantastic if you get the opportunity to visit, Always thought a commemorative salute would be the flight before the crash with all the planes in formation greg
  8. Shout out to gman from Canada for the gift of the hubcaps greg

  16. Collect six of them and you could do this in 1/25th
  17. It was a shame that MPC did not give the kit a tire option of having the cleated military tire and the Goodyear snow tires It did have some nice custom parts, and the neat recoilless rifle. (mount that on a sno cat for avalanche abatement.) greg
  18. In one of the threads here it is mentioned that the turn signal valance is still in the kit from 78 on, I had a full size 76 Ramcharger that I had an accident and replaced the grille with a 78 grille since I liked the look of it, In real life you could keep both set of turn signals, I also added the 'power wagon' in the birdbath hood which should have been in the kits that were 4wd. Great kits, base kit for a squad 51 truck, made a nice mini pumper, looks good with the Open Road camper. greg
  19. Here is a Holmes I built years ago, AMT ALF fire cab, modified AMT wrecker body and if I remember right Phil Jensen's 'how to' Holmes boom assembly. (I hope the credit is right)
  20. The engine would be the color from the original manufacturer. The engine options back then were Continental (gas) and Detroit Diesel. The NFPA standards of that era was that all parts of the undercarriage and chassis were painted the same color as the body color, greg
  21. Wonder why 'Ike' had Columbine ll and Columbine lll, (at the USAF Museum) interesting there isn't just Columbine. greg
  22. The National Lampoon magazine issue that lampooned the Boy Scouts magazine had a spoof of the AMT 60's ads which was for the 257 dollar Ford, The trees they made up for the spoof had a vertical power push lawn mower (aka LawnBoy). other such goodies as grocery bags, baby car seat,
  23. I have been in EMS a long time, I have had the privilege of transporting veterans from the Spanish American war to Desert Storm and today's military, I instruct my fellow EMTs and Medics to thank them all for their service. The greatest generation especially need to be thanked since they are getting to be few and far between, I tell them to ask questions about their service in WWII and amazingly they will open up to you and you have your own oral history of bravery and even the mundane events of their service. Most will say the heroes are the ones that didn't come home. Big Thanks to all of them because I enjoy my freedoms they fought for. greg
  24. Good job on the truck/tanker Always in awe of the Pennsylvania tankers, 4guys have always been my favorites greg
  25. Here is how I modified the shoe plate on the AMT Bulldozer (trade name deleted). Due to the fact that the way the assembly design is made it is difficult to get the cleat any thinner. You are able to shave down the cleat and still have assembly of the tread The next step was to determine the height that could be removed and how to do it with all the shoes turning out the same. I figured using a disc sander and the shoe being held by something that would withstand the sanding as opposed to the softer vinyl shoe. I used a piece of brass stock that was the right height and placed the shoe against the brass as I sanded the cleat to the height of the brass. The final product is a lowered cleat on the tread Hope this helps, greg
