  1. That plus the much easier addition of some much needed door panel detail is the biggest reason that I have begun cutting interior tubs apart. In most cases, the addition of detail and painting then become the easy part. The harder part is reassembly. Steve
  2. No reason at all that using a straight edge wouldn't work. Steve
  3. That's pretty sexy! Best looking Trans Am, or any Firebird for that matter, ever offered! Steve
  4. Just want to give Kudos to Dave. The add situation seems to be under control now. Thank you!!! Steve
  5. Everybody has their own techniques and some guys can get by with a coat or 2 of clear, but I like to polish mine regardless of how the finish turns out. As a consequence, through my own experience over the years, I've settled on at least 4 coats, usually 5. But that depends a great deal on the particular clear that you are using as well. Steve
  6. Enamel generally goes on much thicker than lacquer. That's the reason why it's not as easy to burn through while polishing. This is the reason why I use multiple coats of clear lacquer. You do have to be very careful about using enamel clear over light colors though. Unlike lacquer, enamel can yellow very badly over time. Steve
  7. Yes, they were all down for a while last night. Steve
  8. The one time that I asked my doctor, who was a respected Mayo Clinic doc, about a drug that I saw in a commercial, he gave me this face. And said, "Yeah..... it really doesn't work". Steve
  9. I had the "Bruised Orange" album when I was a kid. I loved the songs "Fish and Whistle", and especially, "Aw Heck". Steve
  10. There were a lot of cars in the late 60s and 70s that had square mirrors, but nothing as ugly as the AMT kit part. Most were just a smooth rectangular mirror. This is the '73 Chevy mirror. About the closest thing that you will find to the AMT mirrors are the ones from some 50s Fords. Steve
  11. Good! Than you can spare the hard top kit.....right? Steve
  12. Worse than the insurance commercials, which can at least be entertaining occasionally, (ie, Geico) is the drug commercials! I see these almost constantly! And they're all just the same stupid add for different drugs using dopey actors and some bad 40 year old song with the name of the drug worked into the lyrics! I just want to hurl every time I see one!! ?? Steve
  13. Nice Rich!! These '64 Bonnevilles are getting exceptionally expensive and hard to find. Hope you got a good deal on them. Steve
  14. That's why I felt so privileged and fortunate to have been able to have the opportunity to build this model Erik. Imagine the price if it had a kit inside! Again, I have to thank Claes Ericsson for giving me that opportunity! Steve
  15. If It meant the elimination of all of the adds, I'd be on board. Steve
  16. Just on this page alone, with 21 replies so far, I am seeing 3 adds for clothing, a face mask add, and a pair of Mobil adds! Steve
  17. I agree. The next step will be for the board to become unusable. The adds will be useless when the members begin to leave. I don't need to worry about installing an add blocker on any other forum. I shouldn't need to have one here either. Steve
  18. That will be very helpful indeed! Thanks Steve Steve
  19. Looking sweet Steve! Steve
  20. I agree. I'm no fan of the Grateful Dead either. I'm much more of a Pink Floyd fan, which can also be an acquired taste. Steve
  21. Thanks much guys! Still working on some fabrication and trying to get everything situated as it should be. I ground out the original radiator brace area and am replacing it with the brace from the '62 Catalina because, well, that's the way it should look. Before: After: Steve
  22. Traffic is extremely light. Not really a lot going on. Steve
