1964 Pontiac Auto Transmission

I believe it does, but I'm not certain if it would be correct for a '64. Steve -
I know what they are, and I don't get it. Steve

How do I black wash a grille ?
StevenGuthmiller replied to Ctmodeler's topic in Model Building Questions and Answers
I've always had pretty good luck with it. Steve -
Regular masking tape can do that sometimes. That's part of the reason why I rarely use it. I think I'm safe saying that Geoff used Tamiya masking tape. It's pretty much the gold standard in masking tape for modeling. Steve

Agreed. I've had this set for probably close to 6 years and I don't think I've used a third of it. I have a couple of sandwich bags full of molds that I've made with it, with everything from head light lenses to window cranks. If you like Erik, you can always drop the original in an envelope and send it to me. I'll whip up a half dozen tail light lenses for you and send them back. Hell, I'll even paint them for you with some Testors Stop light red if you'd like. Steve

I keep some 2 part mold putty around for situations like this. I can mix a small amount and make a mold very quickly at any time. Then I keep the molds in a plastic bag for future use. Steve

I started an AMT 1964 Pontiac Grand Prix immediately after finishing a Johan '68 Olds 442. Just getting started, but I've blown apart the interior to revamp the seats, console and door panels. It will be a long haul, but hopefully this virus garbage will be long over by the time it's finished. Steve

The tail light lens can be replicated very easily. Press the one you have into some mold material or silly putty to make a mold then fill the mold with clear 2 part epoxy. When it's cured, paint it with some transparent red. Simple. Steve

How do I black wash a grille ?

This is what I use as well. Easy to find, cheap, and a bottle will last forever. I'm still using a bottle of black Ceramcoat acrylic that I bought 25 years ago or more! Steve -
Check to see if they have separate hoods, or any engine bay detail. If they do, they are kits. If not, they're promos. That would be your first step in determining value. These models, for the most part, are in relatively poor condition for a promo collector. They're in very good condition for a modeler who wishes to restore them, especially if they are kits over promos. I can tell from the photos that the black '63 Mercury, for instance, is a kit. A good, undamaged, complete, built example of this kit can sell routinely on ebay for in the neighborhood of $75.00 or more. Steve

That's 2 snacks for me! Steve

I've already changed my mind on the seats! I decided that the piping on the seat back was not really what I was after, so I removed it and did a little more scribing. I'm liking it better now. Steve

I can't believe you're actually going to step on my toes!!.......... Good to see it Steve! I'm very happy to see that you're jumping in with both feet on this one! It should be fun to confuse the hell out of everyone! Steve

How about your favorite cereal ?
StevenGuthmiller replied to NYLIBUD's topic in The Off-Topic Lounge
If you remember Quisp, you surely must remember the Quisp vs. Quake war. When I was a kid, there was Quisp, (the little disk shaped cereal with the martian on a blue box) and Quake, (the exact same cereal with a different shape with a miner on a red box) In 1972, a vote was held to determine which cereal would go, and which would stay. Quisp won. Steve -

I guess they thought Nutty Buddy" was a fancier name. They were plain old "Nutty Bars" for about 50 years until they decided that we needed a "buddy"! Steve

For a more "healthy" choice, Peach or Strawberry "Honey Bunches of Oats" are tasty. I've always liked "Basic 4" as well. Steve -
