  1. Hmmm. going to have to mull this over before making a purchase. Lack of engine doesn't bother me, the molded colors are an interesting choice I must say. I do see a nice kit, just have to decide if I want to build a modern Jeep. Thanks for sharing the contents Jonathan!
  2. Could it be the snap together 76 Chevy Blazer from AMT?
  3. I have the Honcho version of this kit that is completely molded in black. There is no chrome and the instructions are very basic with no indication to paint any parts. The box art does say " To assemble this model kit, you will need Plastic Model Cement. If you wish to paint this model kit, the following colors are recommended: white, silver, red" Looking at the box art one would be excited to build this kit but once you open it up, you would see how basic it is and how much painting would be necessary to replicate the box model.
  4. The Modelhaus had a ton of parts for these trucks but unfortunately they are no longer. Would be nice if someone could somehow buy their molds and continue their line.
  5. It is shown on his website and has a price of $15.00. From what I have heard from someone who has one of these beds, it is a very nice piece but is heavy due to the casting.
  6. Nice work as always and the paint colors look period perfect!
  7. If the model companies could do this cheaply and easily, don't you think they would have already done it? If the magic number is 5,000 units to make money, surely they must have an idea of which kits they could manufacture to satisfy our desires, no? It isn't as simple as one would think. I have no insider information nor do I pretend to know the inner workings of the model car business, but if fixing some tooling and running 5,000 kits down a production line is all it takes (oh, and the money upfront to make this happen!) why haven't they done it already? Dave Burket (Model King) stepped up over the last 10 years and did just that and while I appreciate his hard work for bringing me kits that hadn't been around for some time, I have noticed that he isn't doing as many as he once did. That begs the question- did he get the return on his investment (ROI) that is crucial to justifying a business decision?
  8. Not sure I have completed 42 models in my lifetime of building since the mid 70's! I, too, build for myself and have yet to post any on here, mostly out of not having a photo hosting site and decent camera to take pictures with. I love this community and going to shows to see other's builds and also the buying/selling/swapping that goes with it.
  9. Nice work on all of them! Great job in getting so many completed.
  10. That is probably my lifetime total and half the number of WIPs on my bench! LOL! Nice job, I really liked the BMW 2002, drove a few of them back in the early 80's, sweet cars!
  11. Nice work and excellent paint & details. I am lucky to get a couple of snap togethers done in year, kinda jealous!
  12. Those are nice, love the color! I always liked the 70/71 Torinos, not sure why but the bodystyle just caught my eye, you have done a great job on these. Best of luck with the new job, hopefully you will be able to squeeze in some modeling !
  13. Nice variety and loved them all! I am really envious of the black paint jobs, those look outstanding and show some real talent!
  14. Nice variety of cars, all well detailed and clean paint jobs!
  15. Coming along nicely Dan, can't wait to see it finished!
  16. This is looking good so far, interested to see it finished. Not a huge fan of the outrageous slammed trucks, but this is a subject that caught my eye and I will follow. As long as it looks streetable , I can be interested!
  17. Not aware of any shows in eastern NC, but if you are up for a drive, the SCMA has a show in Spartanburg SC next month that is a pretty good one. Large swap meet and good turnout for builders, well worth the trip. In May they have a show further down the road in Simpsonville SC that is equally big and well attended. The CKM show in August is a really good one, and the swap meet in Salisbury in February has some great deals.
  18. Don't see anything on that list that I don't already have, so I got to hope that they continue working on bringing some other old tools to life. Would really like to see some new pick up kits one of these days, the Revell snapper Raptor trucks are about the closest we have to a modern tool. Maybe Meng will update the F350 tool to newer body specs?
  19. Nice job, sure wish they would play that movie on TV, haven't seen it in years! A lot of nice cars in the movie, a lot of them could probably be built as models.
  20. With all of the specialty parts you are trying to source, it is going to take time and money to get them all. Your best bet would be to make sure you have stuff to trade and be willing to work with others in your trades. Check the show section here on the forum and see if there are any shows coming up in your area as they can be great sources for kits, parts and resin pieces.
  21. I wonder if this one will find it's way to Hobby Lobby any time soon? I realize they will price it at $29.95 knowing most will use the 40% coupon to buy it, it sure would be nice to see this on their shelves.
  22. I will have to look for one of those, I can envision lopping one of the axles off and making a HD flatbed roll back truck.
  23. Looking good Dan, almost looks like a factory job! Is that the height you are going with or will it sit a bit higher? Those side rails and cab guard look great, you going to build bumpers for it too?
  24. Perception is the only reality. Your expectations and mine are most likely different based on personal tastes. While I might not notice a little wind noise but can feel the transmission shifting hard, you find the transmission acceptable but notice the engine makes a peculiar noise at 45 mph!
  25. Initial quality pertains to the first year of ownership, not how the vehicle holds up after the warranty period. As for the ignition switch issue, that is your typical corporate response to a problem. Imagine if the GM folks had been in charge at VW during the diesel cheating scandal? I have finally found the current Silverado design acceptable and now they go and change it? Hmm, I will have to study this new design and get back to you.
