  1. Really nice detail work going on and love the weathering you have done, looks so realistic.
  2. The 2016 Corvette and Camaro Snap kits were the only ones left at the Matthews NC HL today. I did walk down to the clearance section and saw 2 of the Testors Aztec air compressors on clearance for half price, $75. I looked at a couple of kits but decided against it, headed to a swap meet next week and will drop some cabbage there instead.
  3. I grew up 45 miles north of Chicago in a town that is on Lake Michigan, so we got some lake effect snow too! That was my freshman year of HS, we missed a lot of time with the cold and snow that winter, and the winter that followed as we had back to back snowfalls of about 90 inches each, average snowfall was about 40 inches. I remember they had to come around the neighborhood with end loaders and dump trucks to clear the intersections and widen the roads so school buses could get down the roads as well. My best friend and I created a slide in my backyard and used a snow saucer to smooth it out and we had fun for a month or more on it! A lot of fun at the time but now that I live in the south, glad to be done with that!
  4. Well now there is some good news on a Friday! Thanks for stepping up Kris!
  5. Hmm, that tells me they must be selling them at or below cost, which explains why they can afford to let customers use a 40% off coupon. It also explains why most new kits are priced at $29.99.
  6. I am afraid that Ma's Resin isn't around. I haven't heard anyone talk about Alan and those that have, are waiting on orders. Sad, because he had some great items and I count myself as one of the lucky ones who got some of his stuff. If someone knows otherwise, please update this thread. On a related note, the re-issued kit has the glass and rear hatch in the kit, so one could possibly create the side panels and roof piece and get the full top.
  7. I built a few of these back in the day, might have to get one or two.
  8. Thanks for sharing. Other than the big tires and the gun rack, pretty similar to the plow truck.
  9. Well Dan, I will take the opposing view for a minute. Imagine having to haul a few pieces of lumber and some other items in the back of your truck. With a current tailgate set up, you either leave the tail gate up and the lumber sticks up or you drop the gate and secure the load and drive carefully. It might be that Dodge is thinking about that scenario I just gave and feels this is the way to go. Not sure I like it any more than you do, it will be interesting to see if it makes it to production and if it does, do all versions (1/2, 3/4 and 1 ton) get it?
  10. My thoughts exactly. I don't know if he is spraying paint but I would guess that he is using acrylic paint for detailing.
  11. That whole "burnt out light" and "torn wipers" is one of the most common scams at some of the "Official NC Inspection Stations" here in the Charlotte area. These shops ONLY do inspections and at $30 a vehicle, you KNOW that they aren't making money unless they find SOMETHING needing replacement. Had a neighbor fall victim to one of these places and the "NEW" wipers they put on performed worse than the old torn ones they replaced! In my 13 years of having vehicles inspected here, I have always gone through the vehicle the morning before I take it in for inspection and make sure everything works as designed. The irony here in NC is that to pass the brake light inspection, only one of the three brake lights has to function, you can drive with burnt out bulbs unless it is a headlight!
  12. I have never used the brake fluid method (very caustic) but have used Simple Green with much success. It is less messy and I always strain the paint off and re-use the Simple Green over and over. I use an old plastic container that can be sealed and usually have no problem stripping paint within hours or overnight. Make sure you wear gloves and eye protection when handling any of the strippers as they can be hazardous and also make sure your work area is ventilated to keep the fumes to a minimum.
  13. I would use the engine block that comes with the AMT 66 Nova. There is a "display" engine in the kit that is supposed to be on the engine stand and it would be perfect for this. It is a bare block and probably could pass as a Ford V-8 if it was just sitting in the engine bay.
  14. Very nice, I have one waiting to be completed! Love those wheels, among my most favorites!
  15. Looks nice, I have one to build, also have the similar truck from Revell that has the dirt bikes, might build them side by side and compare. Does this kit allow you to build it more "street" like? I know the box art shows a couple of versions but wanted your impression.
  16. Could be too that they already did a purge and the bargains are gone. There was a big show and swap meet in that area 2 weeks ago. I will continue to check, although I am hard pressed to say that I need/want much as of now.
  17. I have been in the auto parts and repair biz since 1980 (yeah, I started young! LOL) and typically do most of my own repairs unless time or special tools prevent me from tackling it. I have a trusted mechanic who knows not to BS me and he is not the type to do that anyway as he is always busy and makes his fair share the honest way. He loves it when people bring their cars to them and tells him how much they spent with so and so and it still isn't fixed and he points out the obvious to him. I work for a company that is an OEM supplier (partially owned by Toyota) and our "aftermarket" parts are actually Toyota OEM in an aftermarket box. My job is great as I literally do not have defect issues like most aftermarket companies and when I do get an "alleged defective", 99% of the time I can determine it was something other than a manufacturing defect that caused the problem. That doesn't always sit well with some of my customers, but I remind them we aren't in the business of reimbursing others for their incompetence or lack of following proper repair procedures. There will always be pressure by upper management at whatever repair facility you take your vehicle to generate more sales dollars. You can educate yourself on your vehicle and don't be afraid to question them or get a second opinion. Your three biggest investments tend to be 1) Yourself; 2) Your house; 3) Your vehicle. If you would seek a second opinion on your health or your house, why wouldn't you do the same on your car? And no, I don't mean asking your brother-in-law who once worked at Jiffy Lube about your car, I mean asking another qualified shop!
  18. Stopped at the one in Spartanburg SC today, no bargains on the shelf but the aisle was crowded with lookers. I will check some others in the area this week.
  19. Thanks, very much appreciated.Spoke to him today and he is feeling much better, more energy and appetite, things are looking up!
  20. Admittedly, I haven't watched a lot of football this past season, in part because of work but mostly just too busy to watch. Went to some friends house yesterday and had a great meal and fun watching the game and thought the last 10 minutes was some of the most exciting football I have seen in a long time. Glad to see the Eagles win, they worked their butts off this season and rightfully earned it.
  21. It is always a BLAH_BLAH_BLAH_BLAH shoot with Jimmy's stuff as it can vary from time to time. I would buy it and check with what you have and go from there, most likely something will work.
  22. Use the 40% off coupon at Hobby Lobby or the 50% off coupon at Michaels and get yourself a new airbrush that will last you for years and parts are readily available.
  23. Stunning paint, well detailed, absolutely love this color and car! Very nice job!
