  1. They lost any focus on model kits years ago. They carry what they do based on sales and the sad reality is that if they don't update and carry newer stuff, they will never show growth. Say what you will about Hobby Lobby, but they do refresh and carry new kits, maybe not like they used to but at least they have some new stuff!
  2. Looking great and the scratch built items continue to amaze me! Two questions- 1. With the mirrors not mounted on the doors, will they interfere with the opening of the door? 2. What are the round discs on the front wheels?
  3. ^^^^What he said! Love that camper and should look right at home behind the Burban!
  4. If your goal is to get stock 8 lug wheels, your best choice will be Scenes Unlimited. Danny has mastered some really nice looking wheels and you would swear they were kit pieces they are so nice!
  5. I can hear our old Harry's comments coming from above on this topic! I am like most, buy it locally if I can , either the one remaining hobby shop or HL. Otherwise, it is online or hobby show for me. As I have been reducing the stash, there isn't much buying going on these days!
  6. As Charlie said, black was very common on them, especially in the 60s and 70s. Later on they started painting them the same color as the cab.
  7. Revell has a '77 Jeep CJ-7 in 1/24 scale that builds up nice and will suffice for your Daisy Jeep. It is currently out of production but easily found on eBay or at shows and swap meets. You can also check with a few of the old kit sellers like Model Empire, Dean's Hobby Stop or Fred Sterns.
  8. It's called "Modelers' logic". Same theory applies to resin and aftermarket items!
  9. Which is why I am not heartbroken that I didn't get any of them. The 75 Vette would have been nice for some parts but that is all that I saw worth going for.
  10. most likely the reason why it is taking so long to complete the orders that were submitted. I remember before they announced their retirement that fast service from them was 4-5 weeks and it was well worth the wait. I placed my last order around July 3, 2016 and am in no hurry to get it as I have plenty to build. I bought two kits- a Dodge pickup and their camper trailer and have every intention of building both. Originally the camper was going to be behind the Dodge pickup but now that the Revell 66 Suburban kit is available, it might be the tow vehicle, painted to match of course!
  11. Nice builds, he has lots to be proud of, as do you! Hopefully he keeps at it and continues to win more hardware~!
  12. A topic here became a little uncivil (for some, I guess) and one member here started spouting off here and as a result, some replies were edited or deleted. This person has been a long time member here and claims to be knowledgeable but yet took an opportunity to question several members who also replied to the topic. My replies were among those deleted as apparently they were seen as being inflammatory along with this "one member's". He goes on to make some more clueless comments and I guess because of his "standing" here, gets a pass. It's a shame because he isn't any better than the rest of us and in fact, due to his child like behavior, he showed his true colors.
  13. Thanks Steve, that is EXACTLY what I was referring to.
  14. They have shipped via USPS Priority Mail for years, don't expect that to change. If you ordered something from them before they closed down the website, you will get an email stating when your order is shipping.
  15. Jimmy Flintstone also offers something like that, I think he calls it the Power Master? Use an AMT snapfast Dodge pickup to complete it.
  16. Count me as one who didn't know that. Any examples of what they produce been built and shown here? Interesting that they have the wherewithal to buy into Moebius, never thought that Pegasus was a very big company. Should be interesting to see how the future shapes up for Moebius under this new ownership and what happens with Revell- do they remain a part of Hobbico or do they get sold again?
  17. I'd say that looks pretty darn spot on! Making me think about just buying one instead of building one.
  18. I saw his stuff on eBay and those wreckers look nice, might have to splurge and get one or two!
  19. The problem as I see it is simple- as a group, us modelers are cheap! We get all excited about running to Hobby Lobby trying to get clearance kits for $7, regardless of the quality or actual need for them. Once upon a time, HL carried Japanese kits and I remember buying some once they put them on clearance because at the time, paying $20+ for a kit (after the coupon) was considered crazy when you could get a Revell or AMT kit for $10 or less (after the coupon).
  20. Looks pretty good. I have seen those dump beds in lengths from 8'- 12', just depends on the wheelbase of the truck, what does that one measure out to be? I might try replicating that, doesn't look too difficult.
  21. That is one sweet looking build, so realistic weathering and details! Brings back memories of my Dad's old F-250 that I learned to drive stick shift in. Congrats on a great build.
  22. A good example would be some of the resin Malibu kits from the 78-82 years. Those kits never existed but some smart folks realized that the Revell Chevy Citation was very close and with some reworking, created a resin kit. While not an exact copy of an existing kit, and it did require some work on their behalf to come up with a good looking resin kit, it was similar to what Tim is describing here and no one (to my knowledge) has ever complained how a resin caster ripped off Revell. I am afraid the hobby is full of people who stocked up on Modelhaus product for nefarious reasons- either to re-sell at an inflated price or cast resin copies and then pass them off as their own- and we will see that around for a while. It could be a reason why no one has stepped up and bought the Modelhaus, figuring it's good name and reputation will be trashed by some greedy fast buck types and make it difficult to recoup their investment.
  23. Most of the recent issues from Moebius have a MSRP of $34.95 or higher, which is more than Revell. I won't include Round 2 because they have only a couple of new releases. I have no problem paying the higher price as they have hit on subjects never before seen and are in demand, but when they come with warped hoods, mis-aligned body parts and dimensions that are off, how much more should we have to pay? Most of what ails these kits can be remedied by most modelers and only the most anal retentive among us throw their hands up and refuse to build them, but it would be nice to not have to fix something that was developed in modern times.
  24. Yup, remove the clearance sticker, leave the original sticker and hope the buyer isn't aware of what's going on. Most of those kits can be found on HL website for 40% off in their clearance section. Not as good as of a deal if you were able to get them at the store, but still a decent price!
  25. What he said^^^^^^^^ ! I asked about this kit and heard nothing, surprising since they showed the 4x4 version last fall as a built box model.
