  1. I am not the expert Bill is, but using a company like LMC who offers OEM style replacement parts for these vintage trucks, would lead me to believe they are accurate. The Ford pickups used the same step side bed from the mid 50's up through 1979, with some slight differences IIRC. That said, I have seen some custom trucks using newer style beds on older trucks, most notably the step side from a 90's vintage GM truck on a 67-72 GM truck.
  2. According to LMC, they are the same fenders for the stepside bed from 55 (second design) to 66. There was a different fender for the exterior spare option. Rear bumpers are different for 55-59 vs. 60-66.
  3. Do what YOU want, it's your promo. I would paint it a different color and detail it , but that's me.
  4. Yes, email him. He was working on a prototype last fall, I am sure he is still planning on it but probably got busy.
  5. I'm guessing that some of the clearance kits will be on eBay this coming week at twice their discounted price. I saw this after the last Ollie's sale where those $7.99 kits were being advertised for $15-20. Not sure how many sold, but for those that couldn't make it to Ollies, getting a kit for $15 might have been a deal. I did see a bunch of kits last year at a swap meet that you could tell were straight from Ollie's and the sellers were proud of their asking prices. Towards the end of the day it appeared they had sold one or two, and I remember young kids were the ones buying them. I have no problem with someone trying to make a buck, that is what our country is all about. I just like being an informed consumer!
  6. All of the above plus NASCAR and the second largest banking area. We were also famous for letting people choose whatever bathroom they fancied, for a year or so at least!
  7. Using eBay to value kits is like using Barrett Jackson to value collector cars, it doesn't always work that way! Just because someone lists a kit on eBay for big money doesn't mean its going to sell for big money. A kit sells for what someone is willing to pay, much the same way in the 1:1 car world. If you don't HAVE to have a certain kit that is going for big money on eBay, chances are you will be able to find it somewhere for the right price later. Everybody has a different perception of what is a bargain. I could have bought a clearance model at Hobby Lobby yesterday for $7.50, definitely a bargain, but only if I was going to build it or needed it, which I didn't. Someone else might have thought otherwise.
  8. Looks nice and well detailed. Question- why is the rear axle so far forward?
  9. Danny at Scenes Unlimited is working on one, not sure when he will have it ready, drop him a line and get an update.
  10. Looks great, got any more pics?
  11. Really nice detail work going on and love the weathering you have done, looks so realistic.
  12. The 2016 Corvette and Camaro Snap kits were the only ones left at the Matthews NC HL today. I did walk down to the clearance section and saw 2 of the Testors Aztec air compressors on clearance for half price, $75. I looked at a couple of kits but decided against it, headed to a swap meet next week and will drop some cabbage there instead.
  13. I grew up 45 miles north of Chicago in a town that is on Lake Michigan, so we got some lake effect snow too! That was my freshman year of HS, we missed a lot of time with the cold and snow that winter, and the winter that followed as we had back to back snowfalls of about 90 inches each, average snowfall was about 40 inches. I remember they had to come around the neighborhood with end loaders and dump trucks to clear the intersections and widen the roads so school buses could get down the roads as well. My best friend and I created a slide in my backyard and used a snow saucer to smooth it out and we had fun for a month or more on it! A lot of fun at the time but now that I live in the south, glad to be done with that!
  14. Well now there is some good news on a Friday! Thanks for stepping up Kris!
  15. Hmm, that tells me they must be selling them at or below cost, which explains why they can afford to let customers use a 40% off coupon. It also explains why most new kits are priced at $29.99.
  16. I am afraid that Ma's Resin isn't around. I haven't heard anyone talk about Alan and those that have, are waiting on orders. Sad, because he had some great items and I count myself as one of the lucky ones who got some of his stuff. If someone knows otherwise, please update this thread. On a related note, the re-issued kit has the glass and rear hatch in the kit, so one could possibly create the side panels and roof piece and get the full top.
  17. I built a few of these back in the day, might have to get one or two.
  18. Thanks for sharing. Other than the big tires and the gun rack, pretty similar to the plow truck.
  19. Well Dan, I will take the opposing view for a minute. Imagine having to haul a few pieces of lumber and some other items in the back of your truck. With a current tailgate set up, you either leave the tail gate up and the lumber sticks up or you drop the gate and secure the load and drive carefully. It might be that Dodge is thinking about that scenario I just gave and feels this is the way to go. Not sure I like it any more than you do, it will be interesting to see if it makes it to production and if it does, do all versions (1/2, 3/4 and 1 ton) get it?
  20. My thoughts exactly. I don't know if he is spraying paint but I would guess that he is using acrylic paint for detailing.
  21. That whole "burnt out light" and "torn wipers" is one of the most common scams at some of the "Official NC Inspection Stations" here in the Charlotte area. These shops ONLY do inspections and at $30 a vehicle, you KNOW that they aren't making money unless they find SOMETHING needing replacement. Had a neighbor fall victim to one of these places and the "NEW" wipers they put on performed worse than the old torn ones they replaced! In my 13 years of having vehicles inspected here, I have always gone through the vehicle the morning before I take it in for inspection and make sure everything works as designed. The irony here in NC is that to pass the brake light inspection, only one of the three brake lights has to function, you can drive with burnt out bulbs unless it is a headlight!
  22. I have never used the brake fluid method (very caustic) but have used Simple Green with much success. It is less messy and I always strain the paint off and re-use the Simple Green over and over. I use an old plastic container that can be sealed and usually have no problem stripping paint within hours or overnight. Make sure you wear gloves and eye protection when handling any of the strippers as they can be hazardous and also make sure your work area is ventilated to keep the fumes to a minimum.
  23. I would use the engine block that comes with the AMT 66 Nova. There is a "display" engine in the kit that is supposed to be on the engine stand and it would be perfect for this. It is a bare block and probably could pass as a Ford V-8 if it was just sitting in the engine bay.
  24. Very nice, I have one waiting to be completed! Love those wheels, among my most favorites!
