Don't sell yourself short Bill, there's still 2 weeks left!

I am sure I have seen/talked to him at shows over the years but didn't catch his name. Prayers and thoughts to you and your family in this difficult time and hope for a speedy recovery.

Funny how things work out- you deciding to not work overtime might have saved your Mom's life! Take care of her and make sure she gets that new laundry room, I would hate for you to have to re-live that experience again. Best wishes for a speedy, full recovery and Merry Christmas to you and your family.

Being in sales for the last 22 years has taught me a lot about customer service and how successful one can be just doing the basics. I learned that if you tell a customer you will call/visit/deliver on a certain day or date, then do it! If there is a reason why you can't, let them know AS SOON AS YOU KNOW, because anything less is being deceitful. I follow up each visit with my customers with a detailed call report outlining the items that I need to address as well as the ones they need to address. This makes it much easier to remember what work is ahead for me and them, and if for some reason they "forget", I can politely remind them by bringing out the call report. We bought a car back in September and it reminded me why I don't go through that exercise but every 6-8 years or so. The salesman was a nice enough guy (relatively new and eager)but had to remind him several times of items that were promised but not delivered at the time we bought the car. I was nice but firm that if could promise me certain things to sell me the car, then he better remember to do as he said. He did come through in the end and has called several times asking how we are liking our car and I remind him that customer service will set him apart from the others. My personal experience with realtors runs the gamut from the worst to the best. Again, the better ones are more friendly, communicate with their clients and truly listen to their needs and wants opposed to showing them what ever.

Chev K5 Blazer
mikemodeler replied to iamsuperdan's topic in WIP: Model Trucks: Pickups, Vans, SUVs, Light Commercial
I will be following this one as well. I would suggest to keep looking for a better set of tires and not use the poor example of a tire that came with the kit. Go through the Scenes Unlimited website and also check out Fireball Modelworks- those are my two go to websites for accurate, realistic tires and wheels and both of them offer some of the best product and service. Search eBay, those hubcaps look familiar. Check with Casey here on the forum, he casts some wheels and might be able to direct you. -

Last I heard it was to be out in January, we can always hope the ship gets here early from China! -
64 Jeep Wagoneer 4x4
mikemodeler replied to Grzegorz's topic in Model Trucks: Pickups, Vans, SUVs, Light Commercial
That is one beautiful model, did you create that from the Honcho pickup kit, a resin kit or was it scratchbuilt? -

Very nice scratch building and that will be nice when done! -
What would YOU like to see as a model
mikemodeler replied to JeroenM3's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
With this in mind Art, wouldn't either multiple versions of the same kit or a 2n1 or 3n1 be attractive to a model company? Take pickups for example- Moebius seems to be getting some decent mileage from it's Ford F100 series kits and with at least 1 more version coming (4wd), it would seem to make sense to create something similar with another subject. Revell has created at least 3 versions of the Chevy Nova and I don't recall how many of the 69 Camaro, all with a lot of the same tooling so the costs are spread over a larger number of kits. I realize the 70's are over and the days of having 2n1 and 3n1 kits are probably behind us, but if someone came out with a 1974 Dodge pickup kit that could be built both 2wd and 4wd, I can promise you I would be buying multiples of that kit as would many others. Same goes if it was a Chevy or Ford kit from the same era. -
AMT 1978 Ford regular long bed info
mikemodeler replied to 71_Sears's topic in Truck Kit News & Reviews
That was probably Blue Oval Resin, he used to offer these beds and some cabs too. Don't think he is in business anymore. -
I am really liking this color and the detailing you have done on the whole model is fantastic! Can't wait to see this one in the finished section!

we have been banking at credit unions for over 25 years now, can't justify giving the big banks a ton of money for the pleasure of holding on to mine. The one we are members with here in NC have given "loyalty" bonuses based on the type of accounts and loans you have with them and always pay the bonuses on December 1. I logged into my account today to find that this year's bonus is $54! While not enough to take a trip or go to a fancy dinner, it is nice to get something back. Yes, they make money off of me from the various accounts but I think it is interesting to read the paper and see where the execs at big bank inc. are getting huge bonuses and charging their customers fees for everything!

Hobby Shops in Mebane-Hillsborough area?
mikemodeler replied to Fabrux's topic in The Off-Topic Lounge
None that I know of, but I live in the Charlotte area. I do remember someone saying there was a good hobby shop in King NC, which is a little bit of a drive from Mebane. A Google search says that there is a Hobbytown in King. Supposedly there is a hobby shop in Winston Salem at the Hanes mall. I have not been to either one, can't say what they are like. -
Terrible Box Art

That is scary, I think I was drawing better renditions of Corvettes by 5th grade! -
Terrible Box Art
mikemodeler replied to Junkman's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
Not sure how that is supposed to be a GTO, hopefully the model inside builds up better than what is shown on the box! If it looks like the box art, I would think Ferrari would not be very happy! -
Site Update Complete
mikemodeler replied to Dave Ambrose's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
Slight change will take a couple of days to adapt to, but overall I like the look. I was able to go into messages and clear out the inbox of old messages in a matter of 5 minutes, seemed faster than previous method. Thanks Dave for the improvement, thanks to Gregg for having us and to Michael for keeping us in line! -
1969 GMC dually
mikemodeler replied to dieseldawg142's topic in WIP: Model Trucks: Pickups, Vans, SUVs, Light Commercial
The town I grew up in back in Illinois has a '70 Chevy longbed dually tow truck built from a long bed pickup. It's owned by a body shop and I think they use it to move cars from the yard to the shop as I haven't seen it on the road towing any vehicles. It is a 2wd and they also put a snow plow on the truck, I think to plow the entrance and around the building. Nice project, I will be following as I am sure it will be a good one! -
Doctors Jack Daniels or Johnny Walker can put you into a coma or at least a state of mild happiness to deal with the onslaught of family! I would tell them that due to some new models coming out in December, you blew the Christmas fund on some plastic but as a reward, they can sit with you and watch the paint and glue dry!

1/25 Jeep Gladiator
mikemodeler replied to Casey's topic in WIP: Model Trucks: Pickups, Vans, SUVs, Light Commercial
I am reviving this thread because the reissue should be out in January and maybe that will spur Casey to finish this one! Lots of good information here along with some helpful tips on creating a more realistic looking Jeep Pickup.
